She snatched the book from his hands and slapped it across his face.
Mr. Santos’s handso, captivating face was painfully struck.
He covered his face, looking at Ann Nolan angrily.
“Get out, get out!” Ann too was furious, and still tipsy, she cast aside her image and lunged onto the bed to pull at Zaiden Santos.
She had long known this man could never speak without venom, but she didn’t expect him to go so far.
He had never believed her.
Ann’s fingers clutched at Zaiden’s arm, tugging forcefully.
The sleeves of Zaiden’s shirt were pulled up to his elbows, and several vivid, red marks instantly appeared on his arm.
Being from a noble background, Ann had always been a well-behaved girl, never one to argue or get physical, but all that had changed with Zaiden Santos.
Ann grabbed his arm, and Zaiden didn’t fight back, just dodged.
“Get out! Get out of my apartnt!” Ann tried to pull him up from the bed.
But Zaiden was much bigger than her, and she couldn’t possibly move him; he just dodged and looked at the blood marks on his arm with a blank expression.
“I’m sick, I don’t want to leave.”
His face was all red, looking seriously ill from the cold.
He didn’t argue much with Ann, as if he was letting her have her way.
“If you’re sick, go to the hospital. This isn’t a shelter. Santos Mansion has a family doctor, call him.”
“It’s just a cold; I just want to find a place to sleep.”
“Then go to a hotel!” Ann still held onto his arm.
His body felt cool, and his eyes looked sowhat listless, not at all like the domineering Zaiden Santos she knew.
He hung his head low, his bangs drooping, and his long eyelashes lay like the injured wings of a butterfly, still and unmoving.
Zaiden Santos stayed silent.
If he had retaliated, she would have had a whole barrage of words to counter him.
But his silence made her feel powerless.
Holding her sky-blue pillow, Zaiden looked like a child, head bowed, silent.
Ann tugged at him, and he dodged back.
In any case, he just wouldn’t leave.
“Damn, I’ve never seen anyone as shaless as you.” Completely at her wits’ end, Ann watched him lie in her bed like a colossal Buddha.
Even though he was sick, her strength was no match for his; she tried to pull him several tis, but he showed little reaction.
“Are you doing this on purpose? Or are you saying you’re not leaving today?”
“Three days; I’m not leaving for these three days.”
“Well, I’ll stay at a hotel, then. You stay here.” Ann let go of his hand, her expression displeased.
She got up to search her closet for clothes; too angry, she clattered the hangers loudly.
“Ann…” He murmured her na hoarsely, grabbing her hand, his eyes gleaming vaguely.
He looked at her.
Ann turned her head, her gaze falling on his face.
His hand was burning hot, as if he had a fever.
Ann tried to push him away, but he clung on like he was grasping at straws, refusing to let go.
“Where’s your assistant?” she asked indifferently.
“I don’t know.”
“Are you delirious from the fever? I’ll take you to the hospital.” Ann was utterly helpless.
A fever was a serious matter; she couldn’t just watch him burn up.
He was already ntally unwell; what if the continued fever worsened his condition?
“Hmm…” Zaiden actually agreed.
Ann had no choice but to change her clothes again, muttering as she dressed, “Sick and acting like a lord, making serve you, ha, Zaiden Santos, you really have so nerve.”
Little did she know, Zaiden Santos might have been feverish, but he was not deaf.
