Chapter 1199: Chapter 1199: Will You Really Not Leave?
“You need to endure it a bit; this is how ordinary people are treated,” Ann Nolan had little tolerance for his entitled attitude, “You really can’t handle hardship.”
Ann was busy and feeling hot all over, and yet he still complained.
His fever was quite severe; he needed an IV.
So, Ann helped him to the infusion room to sit down.
The room was filled with the sll of dicine, and Zaiden Santos frowned again.
Ann didn’t mind; she could handle hardship, especially since she was all alone in Landon and had beco very independent.
But this spoiled young master was sowhat difficult to care for.
The young nurse poked him a couple of extra tis, and he glared at her for a long ti.
The nurse got scared and hurried away.
Helpless, Ann covered him with a blanket and said coolly, “Why are you being so hard on the girl? She’s clearly new here; you staring at her will scare her.”
Ann had followed him for over a year, and she knew that he was spoiled and had never experienced hard tis.
After studying abroad, he returned to work at Santos Family as president, smoothly sailing without any setbacks.
Moreover, as Santos Family was an established business, it almost ran itself. He could easily go out with friends to race cars, play golf, shoot, or even keep mistresses.
He had plenty of resources to squander.
At his age, probably no man wants the burden of marriage.
Being bound by marriage at the pri of his life, he naturally resented her.
“How long will it take?” Zaiden Santos looked at the IV bag.
“Two hours, you should sleep for a bit.”
Ann, too, felt foggy-headed, but she had no choice; she still had to attend to this master.
Thankfully, it was late at night and there were not many people around; otherwise, people with ulterior motives might see them together.
“I won’t sleep; you might run away,” Zaiden Santos frowned.
“I won’t run, just sleep, and I will sit here,” Ann said calmly.
She truly sat down next to him and poured him a glass of boiled water.
Zaiden Santos felt burning hot, even his eyes radiated heat.
He looked at her incredulously, “Are you really not going to leave?”
“I won’t leave. Go to sleep; I need to sleep too. I’m very tired,” Ann said as she spread out the blanket and covered them both with it.
Only then did Zaiden Santos’s heart calm down. He reached out his other hand and touched her head when she wasn’t looking.
Ann jolted as if shocked by electricity and looked at him warily, with a strong reaction, “What are you doing?”
“…”
“I’m going to sleep; you can do whatever you want,” Ann lay down beside the chair, curling her small head into her scarf.
The infusion room was warm, but it couldn’t fend off the desolation.
After Ann closed her eyes, Zaiden Santos had no one to talk to, so he leaned back on the cushion and fell asleep.
His breathing gradually stabilized.
The air was exceptionally quiet, and even the drops were filled with tranquility.
Outside the window was the deep night; it was so dark that you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, and the bustling city had fallen completely silent.
But Ann hadn’t fallen asleep; her temples throbbed continuously.
Her head was still spinning, and on top of everything, she felt utterly powerless.
She didn’t want to be here with Zaiden Santos; he had only dragged her along because he couldn’t find anyone else. The person he truly wanted to see wasn’t her.
Seizing the mont while Zaiden Santos was asleep, she quietly lifted the blanket and placed it over his body.
She saw that Zaiden Santos was sleeping deeply; under his eyes was a shadow of gaunt fatigue—he looked very tired.
Seeing that he hadn’t awakened, she tiptoed toward the door of the infusion room and headed ho.
