For a mont, the hospital room was left with just the three of them.
Jesse Rowan deliberately moved closer to Joan Harry, his fingertips gently brushing her chin: “Joan, taking care of your father is my responsibility. Why aren’t you letting worry about it, hmm?”
Joan Harry despised his insincere expression and turned her head away: “My dad isn’t in serious danger.”
“Look at you, so unfilial. He’s still not discharged, yet you say he’s fine? I brought so fruits and supplents for him.”
Joan Harry’s lips moved slightly, about to say “Take it back,” but she swallowed her words.
When it ca to Jesse Rowan, she could never gain the upper hand.
She was always the one losing.
Jesse Rowan’s finger was still lifting her chin. Noticing her pale expression, he smirked and said, “What’s the matter? Don’t like ? Or is it that you don’t want to see ?”
“No,” she denied flatly.
“Look at you, you won’t even et my eyes when you speak. And you say no? Aren’t you being guilty? Guilty people have to be punished, you know.” As he spoke, Jesse Rowan poked her chest lightly with his finger.
“This is still a hospital room. Don’t touch .”
“Joan, give a smile, will you? I’ve never seen you smile before.”
Jesse Rowan fixed his gaze on her eyes, his voice low, his lips nearly brushing her ear.
An itchy sensation fluttered around Joan Harry’s ear, like tiny ants scurrying back and forth.
How could she possibly smile?
Joan Harry’s face grew paler, her eyes becoming a vacant fog.
Every ti Jesse Rowan got close to her, she felt uneasy.
Even here in the hospital room, he showed no inclination to keep any boundaries.
“Not going to smile? I really don’t like disobedient girls,” Jesse Rowan’s fingers applied a bit more force, pinching her chin and forcing her to et his gaze.
He turned her head toward him, their eyes locking.
Jesse Rowan’s gaze carried a hard-to-decipher intent, while Joan Harry’s eyes were filled with cold indifference, like frost.
“Joan, acting like this makes it very tempting for to commit a cri.” Jesse Rowan’s fingers slid down from her throat, slipping inside her sweater.
His hand was icy cold.
Joan Harry shivered in fear, grabbing his hand. “Stop it. This is a hospital room. If you have sothing to say, let’s talk outside.”
“Fine, I’m reasonable.”
“Then let’s talk outside.” Joan Harry hurriedly attempted to stand up.
Although her father had just fallen asleep, she feared he might wake up.
But Jesse Rowan remained motionless, watching her with a playful expression: “Going outside is fine, but on one condition—you have to smile at . A beautiful smile. Yes, just like the one you give Sylvan Cheney.”
Joan Harry froze in place.
Her hands pressed firmly against her sides, almost clenched into fists.
Her chest felt heavy, as though struck by a mallet—an aching sensation, seeping into every nerve and vein.
Her entire body, ice cold.
Over these past days, she had co to know Jesse Rowan well.
He was nothing but a childish, cruel demon who wouldn’t hesitate to do anything.
“Not going to smile?” A dark glint flashed in Jesse Rowan’s eyes. “I’ll count to three. If you still don’t smile, don’t bla for doing sothing to you right in front of your father. I imagine, if he were to wake up, it would be… quite stimulating.”
“No!” Joan Harry’s face turned a deathly pale, her spine cold and her hands trembling.
She dared not imagine.
“Jesse Rowan, you’re nothing but a beast!” She clenched her teeth tightly.
Such beastly actions—only he could be capable of them!
“A beast?” Jesse Rowan’s gaze turned icy cold.
