Aunt May glanced at it briefly, furrowing her brows slightly, struggling to recall.
“Lana? Which Lana are you? Are you one of my patients?” Aunt May asked in confusion.
“It’s normal if Aunt May doesn’t rember , I haven’t stayed in Landon for long. I’m Lana Fern, Yolanda’s younger sister.”
“Oh!” Aunt May suddenly understood.
She didn’t have a strong impression of Lana Fern, but her mory of Yolanda Fern was exceptionally vivid.
Although Aunt May hadn’t t Yolanda many tis, the reason she rembered her was entirely due to that sensational tragedy in Landon.
The Cheney Family had concealed the fact that five-year-old Yolanda had been assaulted, but Aunt May knew.
Similarly, she knew that Qiana fell into depression because of that tragedy and Yolanda’s ordeal, leading to her prolonged illness, endless suffering, and eventual suicide by jumping into a river.
Aunt May, being a doctor, understood that if it hadn’t been torture beyond endurance, Qiana would never have chosen to take her own life.
Qiana had been such an optimistic and strong-willed girl…
Thinking back on it, Aunt May sighed with emotion.
“Co in and have a seat,” Aunt May greeted her.
She had very little connection with the Fern Family and wasn’t very familiar with Lana Fern.
“Thank you, Aunt May.” Lana didn’t stand on ceremony and entered the office, setting down the fruit basket. “Aunt May, I brought you so fruit. It’s not much, I hope you won’t mind.”
“Lana, how did you know I was here?”
“Aunt May’s reputation is so prominent, who doesn’t know about you? You’re practically the miracle doctor in our eyes.”
“You flatter , you flatter .” Aunt May gave Lana a few aningful glances. Compared to the Jasmine Yale she had seen earlier, Lana Fern was a completely different type—one was bright and vivacious, the other gentle and serene.
“I think I just saw Mr. Cheney. It seed like he was with his girlfriend, but they left in a hurry, and I didn’t get the chance to greet them,” Lana said with a laugh.
“Hmm, Sylvan was here to see ,” Aunt May corrected. “But that wasn’t Sylvan’s girlfriend; it was his wife.”
“His wife?” Lana’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise. “Really, I wasn’t aware!”
“What work are you doing now, Lana?”
“Just so ordinary work, basically assisting people. I’ll be returning to Lonton in a few days.”
Aunt May had heard bits and pieces about the Fern Family, but since she didn’t have much interaction with them, she wasn’t overly concerned.
Aunt May poured Lana a cup of hot water: “It’s thoughtful of you to co by and rember .”
“You’re an elder, so of course I’d rember. My mom used to often talk about you, saying you were a great beauty. I’ve always wanted to et you, and it turns out hearing about you doesn’t compare to seeing you in person.”
“Your mother exaggerated; I’m old now.”
“Aunt May, you’ve kept up so well—you look just like soone in their thirties or forties, so youthful.” Lana praised with a cheerful smile. “Being able to co visit you and reminisce today feels like such an honor for as a junior.”
“It’s my honor to have soone rember .”
“I just saw Mr. Cheney’s wife earlier; she truly is very beautiful.” Lana comnted with a smile, her diamond earrings swaying lightly as she spoke.
“She’s indeed beautiful, and her personality is lovely as well. She’s a perfect match for Sylvan.” Aunt May had nothing but praise for Jasmine Yale.
