"Your skills are really impressive, almost as good as what you’d get from the store. No, actually, they’re even better," Flora Sutton praised while eating.
She hadn’t had a full breakfast, and in one go, she ate two durian tarts.
After eating, she even licked her fingers.
"You can tell what you like to eat, and I’ll make more for you next ti. Or, if you have ti, you can co over to my place," Jasmine Yale said with a smile.
"No, no, you’re pregnant. I can’t trouble you. Let’s wait until your baby is born, then I’ll have my fill."
"There are so other snacks. Would you like to try them, or wait until the afternoon?"
"Let’s save them for the afternoon. It’s work ti now, you better hide the snacks before the supervisor sees them," Flora whispered, "Next ti, don’t bring them into the office, or you might get a derit, or even worse, get fired."
"Is there such a rule?"
"Yes, there is. Let help you hide them."
Flora picked up her handbag, ready to stash it under the table.
Jasmine quickly nodded, "I didn’t know that."
"You’ll get the hang of it gradually. I didn’t know when I first ca either. But your snacks are really delicious; you’re truly the perfect wife and mom. I’m quite envious of your husband."
Jasmine smiled gently.
A perfect wife and mother? She can’t even make noodles properly.
Flora poured Jasmine a cup of juice, while she made herself a cup of coffee.
Jasmine was already quite adept at her job, and the people in the secretary departnt took good care of her, giving her tasks that weren’t too tiring.
As soon as work started, the entire office would be in a state of breath-holding tension.
Although Flora chatted and laughed with her, when it ca to work, she was very serious.
Jasmine was also very focused.
She tied her hair up with a black hair tie, looking clean and refreshed.
While organizing so docunts, suddenly, her phone rang.
Jasmine glanced at the flashing screen; it was Yukon Carbon.
She grabbed her phone and sneaked out of the secretary’s office.
Outside was a wide corridor, completely empty, very quiet.
Jasmine stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, sunlight pouring in through the glass, casting a glow on her loose black dress.
The light hit the clean marble floor, reflecting a bright sheen.
Jasmine’s slender figure cast a solitary shadow on the ground.
Outside, the sky was a deep blue under the dazzling sun; there was no wind, and the leaves were still as could be.
Another hot day.
She held the phone, lowered her voice, "Yukon, how co you have ti to call now?"
"Oh, I just wanted to tell you, I’m going to Cakago on a business trip for a few days. It might be three or four days. I could use the business trip as an excuse to take you out for a bit."
"President Carbon, that’s not right," Jasmine joked, "How can you use work ti for personal matters?"
"So tell , do you want to or not?"
"I’ll check my schedule. If there’s nothing special, I’ll go with you. Where to?"
"How about I take you to the lake to watch fireworks? It’s sumr now, the best ti to see fireworks."
"Fireworks, huh..." Jasmine paused, "Let’s go to a bonfire party instead, okay?"
"Alright, you like bonfire parties, then it’s a bonfire party," Yukon agreed with her.
"Great, it’s settled then. Let know when you’re back, I’ll co pick you up at the airport."
