Jasmine Yale’s legs felt a bit sore, perhaps from standing too long in the parking lot.
She gripped the umbrella tightly, keeping the rain from hitting her body.
If she got wet, she would catch a cold.
She couldn’t afford to catch a cold.
The roadside green trees rustled in the wind, so leaves falling down at Jasmine Yale’s feet.
Jasmine Yale held the umbrella and wrapped her small jacket tightly around her.
She lowered her head and walked forward, but before she had gone too far, a black Maybach stopped beside her.
Jasmine Yale was stunned for a mont, then quickly jumped aside to make way.
Sylvan Cheney lowered the car window, frowning: "Get in the car!"
Jasmine stood still, her gaze wavering as she looked at Sylvan Cheney.
It was him, indeed.
"Are you getting in or not? I don’t want to say it a second ti."
Jasmine hastily nodded: "Yes, yes."
Her heart leapt, she didn’t expect him to co out, didn’t expect him to agree.
She carefully folded the umbrella and sat in the back of the Maybach.
Sylvan Cheney looked at her disdainfully, his gaze as if he were looking at a bumpkin.
The rear seat was very spacious, he sat on the left, she sat on the right, with a considerable distance between them.
"Thank you, CEO Cheney, thank you, I really appreciate it." She said "thank you" several tis, her eyes filled with lively sparkles.
"What I said earlier was hurtful." Sylvan Cheney apologized to her.
As she left the parking lot, he was caught off guard by her lonely and helpless figure, asking the driver, "Elder Axel, was what I said too harsh?"
Elder Axel paused for a mont, then nodded: "CEO Cheney, it was a bit much. Regardless of her character, she’s pregnant now, and your words may indeed have been very hurtful."
Jasmine shook her head, then regained her smile: "No, I forgot."
Sylvan frowned, uncertain about what to say to her.
She seed as if nothing affected her at all, who knew if it was heartlessness or mindlessness.
All along the way, Sylvan Cheney rested with his eyes closed, leaning against the seat.
Jasmine sat carefully, her unease evident as she glanced between the scenery outside and him from the corner of her eye.
The car drove steadily.
Jasmine’s small hands rested on her stomach.
Once, once is good enough.
At least it wouldn’t leave too many regrets.
The rain blurred the windows, separating the inside world from the outside.
Jasmine wished ti could slow down a bit, so she could have more alone ti with him.
Throughout the journey, Sylvan didn’t utter a word, not speaking to her at all.
As they were nearing the hospital, Jasmine cautiously spoke up: "CEO Cheney, did I delay your ti?"
Sylvan Cheney: "..."
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it won’t happen again. Thank you for accompanying today, I’m really happy."
"Do I resemble your husband?" Sylvan asked lightly, eyes still closed.
"Not exactly, you just look sowhat similar, but your temperants are different. He spoils , treats well, and gives anything I want. In front of him, I can be reckless and playfully ss around, and he would indulge ."
Sylvan let out a cold laugh, scoffing.
How could there be such a useless man, pampering a woman like that?
Moreover, he didn’t see much sadness on Jasmine Yale’s face.
At the bonfire party, he saw Jasmine singing and dancing, passionately interacting with a young man, nowhere showing signs of mourning a recently deceased husband.
Yet, this woman was full of lies, and he had no reason to take her words seriously.
