Sylvan Cheney drank quite a bit; Lucy indeed could hold her liquor well. After drinking for a while, both of them felt varying degrees of tipsiness.
Sylvan’s cheeks were slightly flushed, his eyes dazed and sparkly, as he pressed his lips tightly, the wine’s influence growing stronger.
His slender fingers still held the wine glass, half-filled with wine that resembled Ruby, its luster enticing.
Jasmine Yale eagerly eyed the fruit but felt embarrassed to get up and grab it impulsively.
Sylvan had long arms, and she was hoping he’d fetch so for her.
But he told her not to eat.
Fine then, Jasmine continued eating the dishes in front of her.
As she ate, she felt the burning, disapproving gazes on her, pausing her hand while she looked up, only to find Sylvan staring at her.
"Why are you eating so much?" Sylvan complained vigorously.
"..." Jasmine’s mouth twitched, "Eating a lot," that term probably doesn’t sit well with anyone, "I’m pregnant, eating for two, isn’t that little?"
"..." Sylvan sneered, "Such an appetite."
"!!!" Jasmine was furious.
Not bothering with him, she bowed her head, enduring his dismissive yet disdainful look, and continued eating.
As she ate, a few slices of waterlon and cantaloupe, along with so bright grapes, suddenly appeared on the plate in front of her.
Jasmine’s hand paused, looking up to see him; he had fetched them for her.
"..." Sylvan’s gaze shifted elsewhere.
Jasmine’s lips curved upward, creating dimples that seed infused with a hint of mischief.
She finished all the fruit he picked for her, feeling quite full. The dinner was sumptuous, and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mr. Dick looked at Jasmine, chuckling as he asked, "Miss Yale, was the dinner to your taste? Did you enjoy it?"
"It was delicious, thank you, Mr. Dick. It’s the most delightful dinner I’ve had since coming to Cakago." Jasmine squinted with a smile.
Sylvan said coolly, "Not bad at coaxing people."
Mr. Dick was indeed pleased, "You’re welco to visit anyti again. Lucy should have given you her business card? Feel free to contact her directly."
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Dick."
Night had fallen.
The mansion was ablaze with lights.
Under the chandelier, the atmosphere was lively.
After dinner, Sylvan took another walk with Mr. Dick.
The evening breeze blew gently, accompanied by the delightful scent of flowers everywhere.
The mansion was vast, like a fairytale world, complete with cabins, smoke curls, palaces; it was crafted with intriguing designs.
Jasmine sighed, truly worthy of an entertainnt company’s president, with ticulous detailing throughout the mansion.
As they walked, Sylvan glanced at Jasmine hugging her arms: "Cold?"
Jasmine shook her head: "Not cold."
Sylvan stopped walking and reached out to Mr. Dick: "Mr. Dick, thank you for today’s invitation. A very interesting eting and looking forward to our cooperation. Shall we et in the conference room next week?"
Mr. Dick shook hands with Sylvan and nodded, "OK, OK, head back. I’ll have soone escort you, and it was lovely eting Miss Yale today."
"eting Mr. Dick and Miss Lucy is the highlight of my day," Jasmine smiled, squinting.
"Brown-noser, let’s go." Sylvan whispered in Landon’s dialect.
The mansion’s servants escorted Sylvan and Jasmine all the way to the parking lot.
Sylvan’s driver had already arrived.
Jasmine cautiously placed the rose inside the car, sitting beside Sylvan.
