The sounds of birds playing outside, and everywhere is a peaceful feeling.
A deep sleep.
Jasmine Yale moved her arm, and half-awake, she opened her eyes just enough to see the bright sunshine by the window and the clear blue sky.
So beautiful.
Just like being back at seventeen or eighteen, when she would fall asleep doing sumr howork, resting blissfully on the desk.
And now is very much like that ti, she curved her lips slightly and slowly closed her eyes again.
After sleeping for a while, she felt much more comfortable.
But when did a thin blanket cover her legs?
Jasmine Yale felt sothing strange, and then lifted her head.
She imdiately saw Sylvan Cheney sitting across from her, asleep, his face showing signs of tiredness, exhaustion shining in his eyes.
When did he co? She hadn’t noticed at all!
Jasmine Yale’s eyes were filled with surprise, had she slept too deeply?
She stood up, intending to cover him with the blanket.
But as she made a slight sound, Sylvan Cheney opened his eyes.
"Awake?" He looked at her, his voice a bit hoarse.
Jasmine Yale nodded.
She knew that he had been very busy and tired these days, probably not sleeping last night to secure the project.
"Why did you sleep here?" Jasmine asked cautiously.
"Where else should I sleep? There’s a bid eting coming up shortly." Sylvan Cheney glanced at his watch, it wasn’t ti yet.
"Is there anything you need to do? I feel unqualified, everyone’s bustling around while I seem very free." Jasmine felt a bit uneasy about it.
"No need for you to do anything."
"Oh."
Jasmine fiddled with her hands, actually wanting to ask if he was still upset, but she moved her lips and didn’t voice the question.
"I’m treating dinner tonight, seven at Season restaurant, suite 1988, I’ll be there on ti." Sylvan said faintly.
"Ah?" Jasmine was surprised, looking up at him, "Is it to celebrate?"
"Sothing like that."
"Oh, oh, so will everyone be there? Like a gathering?"
"..."
Sylvan gave her a cold glance, and Jasmine shut up, she didn’t say anything more.
Did she say sothing wrong again? But there wasn’t, why did he seem displeased?
"But, Mr. Cheney... I might not be able to make it tonight, I’ve arranged with a friend who’s treating to dinner." Jasmine said nervously.
"What did you say?" Sylvan gave her a cold stare.
"I..." Jasmine’s confidence weakened.
She planned the evening with Yukon Carbon.
Because today is her birthday...
Yukon knew, specially took a day off to co back for her birthday.
Last year, it was Yukon who spent her birthday with her.
Yukon would prepare thoughtful gifts and take her out to have fun.
"Mr. Cheney, I have plans with a friend. Anyway, for a gathering, one less person doesn’t matter... I can’t drink, nor stay out too late, wouldn’t want to dampen the mood. You all have fun, maybe another ti I’ll treat you to dinner."
"Tonight at seven, don’t make repeat it." Sylvan’s tone was commanding and warning.
Jasmine didn’t understand why he was being so unpleasant, but today is an important day for signing the project and she didn’t plan to argue or say much more.
But... she wanted to have a joyful birthday, so tonight, she really didn’t want to gather with people from the company.
She wasn’t very interested in the gathering, it made her feel restrained.
She wanted to celebrate her birthday, to eat the cake Yukon Carbon made himself.
