The elevator quickly reached the ground floor.
The parking lot was even quieter, with Sylvan Cheney’s Maybach parked not far away.
As soon as she exited the elevator, Jasmine Yale leaned against the wall, looking at Sylvan Cheney, her eyes glistening with a watery sheen.
She rubbed her ankle and said, "Mr. Cheney, I can’t walk anymore. I’ve walked a lot today, been delivering docunts to various departnts all afternoon."
"What does your inability to walk have to do with , hmm?" Sylvan Cheney stopped and turned to look at her.
They stood facing each other, only a step apart.
"That’s why you should wait for ." Jasmine Yale pouted, as he walked so fast, she couldn’t keep up with him.
She rubbed her ankle and was just about to put her foot down when Sylvan Cheney threw the things in his hand into her arms and lifted her up.
"Hey!" Caught off guard, Jasmine Yale felt a bit dizzy and quickly hooked her arms around Sylvan Cheney’s neck.
He picked her up in a standard princess carry.
Jasmine Yale clung tightly to his neck, just like in countless days and nights before, when she would nestle in his arms playfully.
She never imagined that one day she could hold him again, so close, so very close.
Close enough to clearly see his long, thick eyelashes, his handso eyes, and the darkness of his pupils.
In the tiny reflection of his pupils was her silhouette, the light in his eyes undulating like ripples in water, yet also like tumultuous waves, a depth she couldn’t fathom.
She looked at him, holding him tightly, warmth surging in her heart.
Her heart was pounding loudly.
This kind of thrill was like the spring breeze blowing cherry blossom petals, softly and beautifully.
From her angle, she could just see his tense jawline and chiseled features, endearing and elegant, with an unfathomable gentleness buried within his aloofness.
His unique scent lingered at her nose, and she took it in greedily.
She just looked at him like this for a long while.
The elevator entrance wasn’t far from the Maybach.
Soon, Sylvan Cheney reached the car while holding her and opened the passenger door, placing her inside.
However, Jasmine Yale’s hand didn’t release him.
"Am I heavy?" she asked, looking at him.
"What do you think?" Sylvan Cheney raised an eyebrow.
"Heavy, aren’t I? You’re not just carrying , but also my precious."
"Your precious... Always on your lips, never tired of ntioning it."
"You don’t understand, my baby is my dearest, watching him grow day by day... It’s a feeling you wouldn’t get."
"..." Sylvan Cheney didn’t try to understand, nor could he even if he wanted to.
Jasmine Yale gave him a smiling glance and let go of his hand.
Sylvan Cheney shot her a glance filled with deep helplessness.
He reached over to fasten her seatbelt and shut the car door.
The rain outside was still falling.
As the car drove out of the parking lot, the fine rain pattered against the windows, blurring them, and turning the world outside misty.
Due to the rain’s haze, the amber light from the street lamps beca much softer, no longer glaring.
The rain wasn’t heavy, but it was dense, like a net cast over the whole city.
The ground was already wet, reflecting the lights on the road like a mirror.
The black Maybach sped through the rain.
Just then, Jasmine Yale’s phone rang, it was Butler Santana.
"Hello, Butler Santana."
"Miss Yale, will you be coming ho for dinner?"
"Yes, I will. I should be ho in about twenty minutes."
"Didn’t bring an umbrella, did you?"
"Well... Soone’s giving a ride ho."
Butler Santana imdiately understood; who else could it be, definitely that Evan.
