Ruan Tianling had his eyes tightly shut, his forehead drenched with sweat, and pained groans escaping constantly from his lips.

Jian Yufei was terrified by how he looked.

"Ruan Tianling, what’s wrong?!" She stood up and shook his body, causing him to suddenly furrow his brows in agony.

Jian Yufei quickly pulled her hands back. Hurriedly, she unbuttoned his pajama top and was shocked to see bandages tightly wound layer after layer across his chest.

Her face went pale instantly, drained of all color—

Not long after, she called Awei and several doctors.

The doctors imdiately began examining him.

The Chinese doctor said, "He has a gunshot wound. The wound has suddenly worsened, and he needs ergency treatnt right away."

A gunshot wound?

Jian Yufei clenched her fists, her heart skipping several beats all at once.

"Then hurry up and save him!" she urged anxiously.

Fortunately, in preparation for treating Ansel, the castle had rented plenty of advanced dical equipnt and stocked up on various dications.

The doctors rebandaged his wound and administered an IV drip, finally managing to stabilize him.

"For the next five hours, soone must stay by his side at all tis. If there’s any sign of his condition deteriorating, he must be sent to the hospital imdiately for surgery," the Chinese doctor instructed.

Jian Yufei nodded. "I understand. Thank you for your hard work."

"You’re welco. Call us anyti if anything happens."

The doctors all left, leaving only Jian Yufei, Awei, and the unconscious Ruan Tianling in the room.

"Sister-in-law..."

"What the hell is going on?! Why was he shot?" Jian Yufei demanded, her voice tight with tension.

Awei bowed his head, guilt written all over his face. "Boss didn’t want you to know..."

"He’s in this condition, and he still doesn’t want to know?!"

"Sister-in-law, Boss wasn’t actually going to find so famous doctor. He was actually..."

"Going to see Nangong Xu?"

Awei looked up in shock. "How did you know?"

"And then?" Jian Yufei dodged his question with another question.

"The truth is, those doctors said there was nothing they could do about the young master’s virus. But the young master can’t stay in a coma like this forever, or it would destroy his body.

So Boss decided to go look for Nangong Xu to demand the antidote... He set up an ambush on Nangong Xu’s route and planned to kidnap him.

But who would’ve thought that the other side was already prepared? And Nangong Xu is incredibly skilled—Boss took a bullet from him. We even lost several brothers.

Luckily, the bullet missed a vital spot, or Boss wouldn’t have made it through..."

Jian Yufei’s eyes began to glisten with tears. "When did he get injured?"

"...It was four days ago."

Four days ago, he nearly lost his life. And four days later, he had rushed back, pretending as if nothing had happened.

Did he think he had skin of steel, an immortal body?

Biting her lip, Jian Yufei felt a stabbing pain in her heart, as if needles were pricking her.

"Sister-in-law, don’t bla Boss. He had no other choice—it’s the only reason he took such a risk," Awei said, his voice heavy with sorrow.

Jian Yufei responded softly, "Just go. I’ll stay here to watch over him."

"Alright. Sister-in-law, I’ll be right outside the door. Call if you need anything."

Awei backed out of the room and closed the door behind him.

Jian Yufei walked to the side of the bed and sat down. Looking at Ruan Tianling’s pale face, two tears silently trailed down her cheeks.

Clutching his slender, well-defined hand, her eyes were filled with sorrow.

How could she bla him? Everything he did was for their sake. What right did she have to bla him?

Her heart only ached because he hadn’t taken better care of himself.

If he were to die, her life would lose all its aning as well...

"Ruan Tianling, am I such a burden to you?" Jian Yufei murmured, lifting his hand and resting it against her cheek.
