Wen Ran answered with a smile, “How could I not welco you, Sister Ting, Brother, have you both had dinner yet? If not, please sit down and join us, Mo Xiuchen and I have just finished cooking.”
Gu Kai glanced at soone in the dining room sitting unmoved, frowned, and said, “Ranran, Mo Xiuchen seems unwelcoming to Shen Yuting and . It seems we’ve co at an inconvenient ti. Although I’ve been standing at the operating table all afternoon and am starving, to avoid being annoying, I’ll leave.”
“Brother!”
Wen Ran smiled and gave him a reproachful look, then turned to look at Mo Xiuchen.
The latter, upon receiving her gaze, reluctantly cracked a smile and called out to Gu Kai and Shen Yuting, “Since you haven’t eaten, please sit and join us. However, Mo Xiuchen and I didn’t know you were coming, so the portions we prepared are a bit small.”
The implication being, don’t eat too much.
Gu Kai pretended not to understand the subtext in Mo Xiuchen’s words, smirked triumphantly, pulled out a chair, and sat down. He glanced over the dishes on the table, directly grabbed the bowl of rice in front of Mo Xiuchen, and commanded, “Mo Xiuchen, go get another pair of bowls and chopsticks.”
Mo Xiuchen frowned, noticing Gu Kai’s ravenous behavior as he snatched his food and started eating greedily without any self-consciousness, let alone maintaining an image. He really wanted to kick him out.
But then he thought about him being Ranran’s brother, and purportedly, they had been close as brothers for thirty years, so he restrained himself.
Wen Ran smiled helplessly, knowing Gu Kai was deliberately provoking Mo Xiuchen. She invited Shen Yuting to sit, then turned and went to the kitchen to get another pair of bowls and chopsticks. She returned and served two more bowls of rice, one for Shen Yuting and one for Mo Xiuchen.
The cooked rice really wasn’t much; after serving those two bowls, only one bowl’s worth was left in the pot.
Mo Xiuchen eyed the unabashed Gu Kai and pushed the bowl of rice Wen Ran handed to him toward Gu Kai, saying gently, “Ranran, I’m not hungry.”
“Mo Xiuchen, you’re not saving it for , are you?” Gu Kai imdiately asked with a chuckle when he saw Mo Xiuchen pushing the bowl toward him.
Wen Ran looked at Gu Kai, then said to Mo Xiuchen, “Mo Xiuchen, even if you’re not hungry, eat a little. If it’s not enough, we can cook more later.”
“I’m really not hungry.” Mo Xiuchen’s face held a gentle smile. Seeing that Gu Kai’s bowl was nearly empty, he picked up the rice Wen Ran had served him and poured it directly into Gu Kai’s bowl, then handed it back to Wen Ran. “Ranran, serve so soup.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran softly agreed, took the bowl, and served him soup.
Seeing her and Gu Kai’s arrival made Mo Xiuchen skip his al, Shen Yuting, without a second thought, took her bowl of rice and put it in front of Mo Xiuchen, smiling, “Mo Xiuchen, I ate before I ca, you have this bowl of rice.”
“No need, I’m not hungry, you eat it.” Mo Xiuchen refused with a slightly indifferent tone, his handso face also growing colder by the degree.
Compared to the tenderness he showed when talking to Wen Ran, his attitude toward Shen Yuting could already be considered indifferent, let alone courteous and warm toward a guest.
Shen Yuting’s expression slightly changed, her heart a bit hurt.
Seeing this, Wen Ran hurriedly smiled at Shen Yuting, “Sister Ting, you and my brother are guests, how can we let you go without eating? Mo Xiuchen isn’t hungry right now, so he can have so soup first. If he gets hungry later, I will make sothing else for him to eat.”
“Yes, Ranran, make sothing else for later.” Mo Xiuchen, when Wen Ran’s gaze ca over, slightly eased his expression and curved his lips symbolically.
Wen Ran then handed the bowl of rice back to Shen Yuting and placed the bowl of soup in front of Mo Xiuchen.
Mo Xiuchen didn’t look at Shen Yuting again, and smiled gently at Wen Ran, “Ranran, thank you.”
Shen Yuting observed the interaction between Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, her eyes dimd, and without another word, she bowed her head and quietly ate her rice.
“Yuting, why aren’t you eating? You shouldn’t be so polite with Mo Xiuchen and Ranran. Didn’t Ranran just say that we are the guests and they are the hosts? We must make sure the guests eat well, right, Mo Xiuchen?”
“Yes, you must eat well.”
As Mo Xiuchen was picking slices of fish for Wen Ran, upon hearing Gu Kai’s words, he glanced at him lightly and then placed a boneless fish slice into Wen Ran’s bowl, “Ranran, eat a bit more.”
Letting the guests eat well was fine, but that didn’t include his Ranran.
He resigned himself to giving his portion to Gu Kai, but Ranran definitely needed to eat well.
Seeing Mo Xiuchen continuously add food to Wen Ran’s bowl, Gu Kai’s lips curled into a satisfied smile—it seed that he and Ranran were getting along very well.
“You should eat so too,” Wen Ran said softly.
Although the food they cooked wasn’t enough for four people, it was still okay for him to eat a little. Seeing that he only drank a bowl of soup and neither ate the rice nor the dishes, she felt a pang of sympathy.
Mo Xiuchen shook his head with a smile, “You can make so more for later.”
“Mo Xiuchen, considering you gave your portion of food to , when you marry Ranran in the future, I won’t make it difficult for you,” Gu Kai said.
“Why should I marry Ranran in the future?” Mo Xiuchen asked indifferently.

“Who said Ranran and I are divorced? I didn’t sign, that divorce paper doesn’t count.”
Mo Xiuchen looked at him with mild indifference, as if to say, how could you be so foolish.

As he spoke, both Wen Ran and Shen Yuting turned their gazes towards Mo Xiuchen.
Ignoring Gu Kai and Shen Yuting, Mo Xiuchen tenderly looked at the woman he loved, reached out his hand, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as he spoke in a gentle tone that seeped from his thin lips, “Ranran, the previous divorce doesn’t count, we are forever legally married under the protection of the law.”
“Really?”
Wen Ran stared at him, how co she didn’t know?
The smile at Mo Xiuchen’s lips grew deeper, “I was planning to tell you tonight, but just now Ah Kai ntioned remarrying you, so I had to say it earlier.”
“Mo Xiuchen, even if the previous divorce doesn’t count, you can’t mistreat Ranran like this. When you originally married Ranran, you just registered, there was no wedding ceremony, and no dowry…”
