The next day, Nia Mitchell got into her usual ride to work with Maxwell Peary.
"Uncle, do you know much about your secretary?"
Nia sat beside Maxwell, hesitating for a long ti before finally speaking up.
No, no, no, Phoebe Walker is all I can think about, and she seems rather formidable.
Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow, setting down the file in his hand. Nia’s question intrigued him.
"What’s up?"
Maxwell shifted his position, curious as to why she was being so hesitant today.
Even though he was the CEO of MC and possessed a high IQ, he still couldn’t guess Nia’s little sche.
Nia thought for a very long ti, still unsure how to bring it up.
"That Phoebe Walker... what do you... think about her..."
Maxwell was suddenly interested. Is my little wife... jealous?
No, no, no, I should tease her a bit.
"Are you talking about Phoebe Walker, the leader of the Secretary Departnt’s Group A?"
His mory had always been excellent, though he preferred not to clutter it with unimportant individuals.
However, he did rember this Phoebe Walker; after all, she had worked by his side for several years.
"Yeah, that’s the one, Phoebe Walker."
Nia pouted. Why does he seem so interested in Phoebe Walker?
"What about Phoebe Walker?"
Maxwell put his arm around her. What am I going to do? Once we’re at the company, I won’t be able to hold her openly like this anymore.
Nia squird uncomfortably. The chauffeur is still here! Why is he being so brazen?
"Behave yourself!"
Nia feigned anger, her large, sparkling eyes wide as she puffed out her cheeks, resembling an indignant little lioness.
"How am I misbehaving? Can’t I hold my own wife?"
What kind of reasoning is that?
He stubbornly maintained his embrace. This little bunny of mine must get used to my affections.
Otherwise, how will there be any perks later on?
"I... don’t change the subject."
Nia extended a small hand, poking Maxwell’s cheek.
"Phoebe Walker’s having a birthday next week, are you... planning to go?"
She asked quietly, her head bowed.
Maxwell suddenly laughed, reaching out to pat her head.
"I don’t attend such minor gatherings."
Forget a re birthday party; he wouldn’t even show up for a grand ceremony.
He had always disdained such large, noisy gatherings teeming with idle chatter.
"Really?"
A minor gathering, huh? So that haughty Phoebe Walker is nothing in Uncle Peary’s eyes!
"Yep."
He looked at her dotingly. Seeing her smile inexplicably cheered him up.
"That Phoebe Walker has been harboring improper designs on you."
She pouted. That woman is so arrogant in the Secretary Departnt; it makes one feel really uncomfortable.
"Really?"
Maxwell smiled and gathered the docunts before him. He decided against reviewing them today; company matters were best left for the office.
"Yes, she even invited to her birthday party this Saturday."
Nia nodded fervently. Thinking about Saturday’s party, she broke out in a cold sweat.
"Are you going?"
Maxwell frowned. Is this little bunny of mine planning to spend our first Saturday as a married couple at so blasted birthday party, leaving all alone at ho? Absolutely not!
CEO Maxwell’s resentnt ran deep. He refused.
"Yes, but everyone else from the Office Room is going. It wouldn’t look good if I were the only one not to attend."
Maxwell frowned, holding Nia tighter as he said resentfully, "Who dares to say a single word against you?!"
