It wasn’t until they reached the MC Group’s surface parking garage that Nia Mitchell rembered she still didn’t know the answer to her question. Ugh, I’ve been completely sidetracked by the CEO.
"Is Mrs. Peary planning on going to the office with Mr. Peary today?"
The car had already parked, and Nia was still sitting in it, which Maxwell found odd. Normally, she would ask to get out of the car as soon as it reached the garage, then rush to the elevator and get into the Office Room ahead of him. What’s going on today? The car is parked, yet she’s still sitting there so calmly. This is unusual.
"Huh?" Nia finally snapped back to her senses.
"Oh! I’ll go ahead. Uncle, you wait a minute before you follow." With that, Nia hurriedly dashed out of the car. Damn it, I might be late today! No, no, no. If I’m late, Phoebe Walker will nag to death! Anyone who didn’t know better might think Phoebe owns the Company.
Precisely as the clock struck nine, the elevator doors opened, and the first person she saw was Sierra Wright at the front desk.
"Am I late?" Nia panted, clocking in and glancing at the ti.
Nine o’clock!? This shouldn’t count as late, right?
"Um... I don’t think so," Sierra Wright said, looking at Nia. How would I know if this counts as late? After all, all the employees at MC Group usually arrived early, so even half an hour beforehand. She had never seen anyone like Nia who clocked in right on the dot.
Okay, I don’t think I’m late either, Nia thought, heaving a sigh of relief. It was best not to be late.
Pushing open the glass door to the Secretary Departnt, Nia carefully walked in.
"Well, look at you, coming in later each day," Phoebe Walker said with a smirk. This Nia seems brainless. Isn’t she just asking for trouble? If this continues, I won’t even have to lift a finger; Nia will screw herself over.
"Today was an exception. Besides, I wasn’t late," Nia insisted. She was not late.
Phoebe Walker sneered. Just as she was about to give Nia a hard ti, she spotted Maxwell Peary walking past. This Nia is really lucky. She ca in late today, and Mr. Peary happened to be a bit late too. Otherwise, he would have caught her red-handed. Consequently, she held her tongue, ensuring the Secretary Departnt maintained a peaceful atmosphere to leave a good impression on Maxwell Peary.
Nia returned to her desk. Yesterday, Uncle had told her that she was on sick leave the previous afternoon.
Once Maxwell Peary had left, Phoebe Walker imdiately stood up.
"Nia Mitchell, I recall you ntioning you worked at Star dia, right? So you should be quite capable. Here, work on this file." Phoebe Walker handed her the file. Hmph, let’s see how she handles this.
Nia’s expression soured. I’ve only been working here for a few days, haven’t I? And they’re already assigning this kind of work!
"I don’t know how," Nia stated bluntly, her face stern.
So what if I worked at Star dia before? Are they not going to provide any training here and just expect to handle this kind of thing right away?
"You don’t know? Nia Mitchell, are you seriously telling you don’t know? Then what did the Company hire you for?" Phoebe Walker scoffed. Nia Mitchell is the first person to ever so brazenly tell she doesn’t know how to do sothing. "I’m genuinely curious, how did a rookie like you, who doesn’t know anything, get into the Secretary Departnt?"
