Nia Mitchell walked out of Maxwell Peary’s office dejectedly, visibly upset. When she returned to her seat, she began to pack her things.
That sight left everyone in the Secretary Departnt dumbfounded. Diana Hill looked at Nia with concern; she clearly wasn’t looking well.
"Nia Mitchell, what is..."
Nia paused, forcing a smile.
"Hmm? I..."
Before Nia could finish, Phoebe Walker interrupted her.
"Well, well, reaping what you sow."
Phoebe couldn’t suppress her excitent. Nia had erged from the CEO’s office looking utterly dejected and imdiately started packing her things. Anyone would know what that ant. Packing her things ant she was to get lost! HAHAHA! Did Nia really think she could seduce the CEO? She should take a good look at herself.
Nia frowned and looked up at Phoebe. "Secretary Walker, I don’t understand what you an."
Nia was puzzled. What did she an by ’reaping what you sow’? Did sothing happen out here while I was in the CEO’s office? She glanced around at everyone, still not understanding what was going on.
"Heh, you’re quite good at playing dumb, Nia Mitchell. Oh, Nia Mitchell, you’re still too naive." If only she’d known to proceed gradually instead of being so conspicuous, maybe she could’ve lasted a bit longer. But there were no ’if onlys.’ She was about to be kicked out.
"What ’playing dumb’? That’s absurd." Does she enjoy picking on for no reason? Is this fun for her?
After packing her things, Nia zipped up her bag.
"Nia, are you okay?" Diana looked at her with concern, guessing she must be in a terrible mood.
Nia frowned. Why is Diana...
"I’m fine."
Diana was puzzled. Nia’s expression didn’t seem like an act... unless... "You’re packing your things... Weren’t you... fired by the big boss?"
Nia’s mouth twitched as realization dawned. So, everyone thought I was called in to be reprimanded and then fired imdiately after.
"No, I’m taking leave," she explained with a smile, then looked up at Phoebe. "Secretary Walker, I’m still not sure what you ant by your earlier words." She feigned a puzzled expression, waiting for Phoebe to clarify.
Phoebe clenched her fists. Damn it! She wasn’t fired!
"Hmph! You’ve barely been here a few days, and you’re already taking frequent leave!" she scoffed.
Everyone else in the office nodded in strong agreent. They, the long-ti employees, wouldn’t dare take leave casually, afraid they’d be replaced for the slightest misstep.
Nia Mitchell was apparently setting a new precedent at MC, breaking all sorts of records.
"My leave doesn’t require your approval, Secretary Walker," Nia retorted sarcastically, completely indifferent to whether Phoebe could save face.
Phoebe was infuriated. "I am your team leader, after all! Is this how you speak to ?"
Just as Nia was about to retort, her phone rang—it was Evelyn Peary.
"Hello, Sister-in-law! I’m downstairs at the company. Hurry down, hurry down, I’ll take you shopping!" Evelyn’s voice bood from the phone. Wahaha! This ti, I’m definitely going to fleece Big Bro! she thought with glee.
Nia’s face darkened. Actually, her phone’s volu wasn’t that loud, but did Evelyn really need to shout like that?
The Secretary Departnt was usually quiet, so Evelyn’s words echoed clearly through the office.
