Sure enough, the mont she hung up, the office suddenly buzzed with discussion, all centered on Nia Mitchell.
Seriously? Couldn’t they at least wait until I’ve left to start gossiping? she thought, her expression darkening. Oh, CEO, great CEO, you’ve really landed in hot water this ti!
"You actually took leave to go shopping?!"
Phoebe Walker was greatly surprised. Has this newbie taken leave of her senses?
Phoebe Walker angrily picked up the office phone and dialed Alan Morgan, telling him to co to the Secretary Departnt.
Hmph! Nia Mitchell, even if Alan Morgan is your backer, let’s see if he can actually protect you today!
At that mont, Alan Morgan was in Maxwell Peary’s office. His expression shifted slightly when he received the call.
If it were in the past, he wouldn’t have bothered with matters of the Secretary Departnt, letting them fend for themselves however they pleased.
But not anymore. His sister-in-law is over there. What if she’s being bullied...? Would the CEO let him off the hook? COUGH, COUGH. No, that’s not right. Saying that seems a bit irresponsible. It should be said, if his sister-in-law were bullied, his conscience wouldn’t be clear either, right?
After erging from the private elevator, he quickly appeared in the Secretary Departnt.
"What’s wrong?"
Alan Morgan looked at Nia Mitchell, who was standing there with her bag, then glanced around the room with a puzzled expression.
What’s going on? Didn’t his sister-in-law say she was going shopping? Why hasn’t she left yet?
When Phoebe Walker saw Alan Morgan looking at Nia Mitchell with concern as soon as he entered, an icy smirk touched her lips.
"Assistant Morgan, I wonder what reason Nia Mitchell gave for taking leave."
Alan Morgan furrowed his brows and didn’t speak.
"Haha! She’s only been here a few days, and this is already her second ti taking leave."
Phoebe Walker wore an expression of deep concern for the company, her every word enunciated perfectly, brimming with righteousness.
"The point is, she took leave today to go shopping."
She deliberately emphasized the words "go shopping," making it sound like a heinous cri.
Many in the office were displeased by this; so voiced their objections, while others kept them bottled up inside.
And why did Phoebe Walker decide to be the one to stick her neck out?
There were essentially only two reasons.
First, it was her nature; she never suppressed her emotions. If she couldn’t stand soone, she’d try to crush them.
Second, she had the ans, the status, and the background. Tornting Nia Mitchell was rely a pasti to alleviate boredom.
Alan Morgan raised an eyebrow. So Phoebe Walker called over just for this?
She had even specified on the phone that it was related to Nia Mitchell.
Damn, it’s a good thing I didn’t tell the CEO it was about his sister-in-law when I said I needed to step out for a bit. Is this Phoebe Walker seriously trying to play ?
"Taking leave to go shopping?"
Alan Morgan looked at Phoebe Walker with a smile, noting her indignant expression.
"Yes, I was the one who approved her leave."
So what if she takes leave to go have fun? I approved it. What are you going to do about it? What can you possibly do to ? The worst you can do is go crying to Young Master Peary. But she’d have to be a fool to go to Young Master Peary and accuse , Alan Morgan, of abusing my position for personal gain.
Phoebe Walker’s expression instantly contorted, her face a mask of disbelief.
OMG! What did I just hear? Alan Morgan actually admitted, in front of everyone in the Secretary Departnt, that he approved Nia Mitchell’s leave to go shopping! Does he think this company belongs to him?
"Assistant Morgan, it’s one thing for you to casually assign a rookie to the Secretary Departnt, but to also so blatantly abuse your position for personal gain—aren’t you afraid CEO Peary will hold you accountable?"
