Phoebe Walker was taken aback and, for a mont, didn’t know how to respond to Maxwell Peary. How was she supposed to react to his words?
This was clearly a treasured red wine. It was normal that Nia Mitchell couldn’t identify it. She even doubted Nia had drunk red wine more than a few tis in all her years. But how could the CEO not recognize it? That was Young Master Peary, after all! Even if he didn’t attend banquets, his taste in food and clothing was surely top-notch.
When Maxwell Peary took a sip and then asked her to pour a glass for Nia Mitchell, although Phoebe was unwilling, she also knew it was because he found it good that he wanted to share. After all, what he usually handed Nia Mitchell before was fruit juice.
"Young Master Peary, are you joking?" Phoebe Walker tried to find so sign he was joking on his face, but she discovered nothing.
"Do I look like soone who jokes?" he snorted, standing up to straighten his clothes.
"I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now." After saying this, Maxwell Peary looked down at Nia Mitchell. "You co with ."
Nia Mitchell did her best to be invisible, but she still couldn’t avoid him. He was definitely doing this on purpose! Although he hadn’t said anything about their relationship, he still... Darn it! He clearly ca today just to sabotage things!
"Alright, CEO," Nia Mitchell replied, her face wreathed in smiles as she picked up her small bag from the side and stood up.
Looking at all the delicious food spread everywhere, she felt like crying. She hadn’t even started eating yet! This CEO was too heartless!
"CEO Peary, thank you for taking care of today in Alan Morgan’s place since he couldn’t be here. Alan Morgan and I will be sure to thank you personally another day." Special Assistant Morgan, my apologies! I didn’t an to drag you into this.
As Nia Mitchell said this, she deliberately raised her voice; she believed many people had heard her.
Hearing Nia Mitchell’s words from behind him, Maxwell Peary stopped abruptly and turned to stare at her.
Nia Mitchell felt a chill from his stare and swallowed uncomfortably.
"Nia Mitchell, do you have any idea what you’re saying?" That was the last thing Maxwell Peary said at the banquet. With that, he strode off, not waiting for Nia Mitchell at all.
Nia Mitchell just stood there, watching Maxwell Peary walk further and further away. Was he angry?
A smile touched Phoebe Walker’s lips. That Nia Mitchell is such a fool. Of course, Young Master Peary wouldn’t want people to know that his company allows for string-pulling. Yet this Nia Mitchell actually thanked him for his ’care’ in front of so many people, even dragging Alan Morgan into it. The point is, this was clearly a blatant bribe!
"Nia Mitchell, I truly feel sorry for Special Assistant Morgan." Co Monday, Alan Morgan might not even be seen at the company anymore. One doesn’t fear god-like opponents, only pig-like teammates.
"My affairs are none of your concern! You should worry about yourself, lest soone douses you with red wine again." Nia Mitchell glared angrily at Phoebe Walker, her lips pursed as she delivered the biting sarcasm.
"Rest assured, shaless madwon like that Shirley Grant are few and far between in this world." Phoebe Walker crossed her arms. The re ntion of Shirley Grant made her blood boil; that woman had ruined her beautiful evening gown.
It was a sha she didn’t get to show her best side to Young Master Peary today. But no matter, she would have plenty of opportunities in the future.
"Nia Mitchell, don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’d better find a new job soon. Otherwise, when I beco the CEO’s wife at MC Group, you’ll be the first one I kick out." Phoebe Walker smirked coldly, full of triumph; she was determined to secure the position of the CEO’s wife.
