Fiona Sutton arched an eyebrow at Nia Mitchell, her eyes filled with implications that Nia couldn’t comprehend.
"What’s up with you now?"
Nia Mitchell felt baffled. Fiona’s deanor was truly unnerving.
"Nia, I ca across so big news this morning."
Fiona Sutton had a habit: the first thing she did upon waking was to check the news.
Consequently, for seven years, Nia had rarely watched the news; she usually just heard about it from Fiona.
"What is it? Did you see so good news?"
Nia Mitchell continued to walk ahead, soon reaching the snack section, where a large array of colorful packaging imdiately drew her attention.
"Hold on, let finish."
Fiona Sutton grabbed Nia Mitchell’s arm. If she didn’t hold her back, Nia would have probably dashed right over.
"Go on."
Nia Mitchell replied absently. This was the potato chip section, filled with many flavors she loved.
"The eternally chaste CEO of MC, the renowned Young Master Peary from Capital Town, has supposedly been snatched up by an absolute hag!"
Fiona Sutton wailed. She genuinely couldn’t accept it.
Nia Mitchell froze. Her hand, reaching for the chips, hung in mid-air as she turned stiffly to look at Fiona Sutton.
Is she talking about... Uncle Peary?
"Maxwell Peary?"
Nia Mitchell repeated, uncertain, and saw Fiona Sutton nod with a woeful expression.
"Where did you see that?"
Nia Mitchell felt a bit awkward. After a long pause, she finally placed the bag of chips she had been eyeing into the shopping cart.
"It’s all over the news! Can you believe it? I never thought Young Master Peary would have that kind of taste!"
Fiona Sutton murmured to herself, still unable to accept it.
"Who supposedly snatched him up?"
Nia Mitchell recalled the scenes at the Royal Dynasty from last night. No way!
But that wasn’t right. If photos of her and the CEO had made the news, Fiona wouldn’t be reacting like this.
"I hear her na is Phoebe Walker or sothing."
Fiona Sutton looked disgusted, not even wanting to utter the woman’s na. "To think soone that hideous was the one Young Master Peary liked!"
Soone like Young Master Peary, at the very pinnacle, should be like an immortal, riding the wind and unconcerned with worldly affairs.
In all likelihood, no matter who he ended up with, it would be a desecration to his status.
"Phoebe Walker?"
Nia Mitchell exclaid in surprise, her voice rising. This news was just too hard to believe.
"That’s right! Young Master Peary, who never attends any banquets, showed up at Phoebe Walker’s birthday party. And Phoebe Walker even poured wine for him! They looked so intimate. You should have seen the photo, TSK TSK! I’ll find it for you."
Saying this, Fiona Sutton took out her phone and quickly found the news article.
"Here, look. Aren’t they incredibly close?"
Nia Mitchell leaned closer and skimd through the news article.
There was no trace of her in it, nor was she ntioned. It was just a brief sentence reporting that Young Master Peary had finally appeared at the banquet.
This was Young Master Peary’s debut at such a banquet, the first ti he shed his mysterious image and openly appeared in the public eye.
In the photo, he was in formal attire, his expression blank, his cold deanor keeping everyone at a distance. His hawk-like eyes were unreadable, betraying no flicker of emotion.
A CEO like him naturally commanded everyone’s attention, as if he possessed an innate aura, instantly overshadowing everyone else and becoming the sole focal point of the event.
Just looking at the photo made Nia Mitchell’s heart pound; one could only imagine the effect on others.
Phoebe Walker, standing beside Maxwell Peary, was instantly outshone. The two of them looked utterly mismatched.
"Looking at her this way, Phoebe Walker really is quite ugly."
