Maxwell Peary smiled suggestively, nodding in agreent after receiving Nia Mitchell’s hint. But as soon as the words were spoken, an ambiguous atmosphere filled the air, enough to make one blush uncontrollably.
CEO! SNIFFLE, how could he be... be so impudent?
Frederick Goldsmith didn’t linger, to avoid making Nia Mitchell feel uncomfortable. After putting down the fruit platter, he exchanged a few words and then departed.
In the vast living room, only the two of them remained. The heat on Nia Mitchell’s face hadn’t subsided as she awkwardly reached for the fruit platter. "Uncle, do you want so?"
Nia Mitchell generously offered him so, reaching out with a small piece of kiwi.
Maxwell Peary frowned. There were so many toothpicks by the fruit platter; why did she have to grab the fruit with her bare hands?
Nia, oblivious to what the CEO was frowning about, continued to bring the kiwi close to his mouth. "Taste it, it’s really delicious! Open your mouth, ah—"
An exasperated Maxwell Peary, finding it hard to refuse her enthusiasm, had no choice but to open his mouth and eat it.
Ti flies, and in the blink of an eye, it was Monday again.
As always, Nia Mitchell appeared at the Secretary Departnt one minute before the CEO arrived at the Company.
Forcefully pushing open the Grand Gate of the Secretary Departnt, Nia Mitchell caught her breath from her run.
"Nia Mitchell, you’re finally here!" Diana Hill, upon seeing Nia, shouted excitedly.
With Phoebe Walker’s absence from the Secretary Departnt, the whole atmosphere had improved significantly, and everyone was much more active. Even Diana Hill mustered up the courage to yell boldly.
"What happened?" Nia Mitchell was taken aback. What was that expression on Diana’s face?
"Quick, check our company’s Forum! Look at the hottest post on the first page."
Nia Mitchell started her computer, and while it was booting up, she leaned over to Diana’s computer to look at the company’s Forum.

The corner of Nia’s eye twitched. She could perfectly imagine how the CEO would react upon seeing this post. Of course, he would be... expressionless. Oh well, it’s not like he had any other expression, always as steadfast and unmovable as Mount Tai.
"Who wrote this?" Nia Mitchell asked. The click count was quite high, and there were many replies.
"Who knows who wrote it? The account is newly registered, but it must be an Employee from our MC Company," Diana Hill mused for a mont before drawing her conclusion.
Nia Mitchell raised an eyebrow. Anyway, it wasn’t true and didn’t concern her much.
"What’s this post?" Nia Mitchell suddenly pointed to another equally popular post. "Shirley Grant Publicly Admits to Using ’Unspoken Rules’ to Get Ahead!"
"It’s about the incident between Shirley Grant and Mo Special Assistant last Friday; the whole company’s been buzzing about it."
Just as Diana Hill finished speaking, Maxwell Peary happened to pass by the Secretary Departnt. He paused montarily, then turned the corner and walked in.
"Convene a eting with the Finance Departnt Director at 9:30."
Having said this, Maxwell Peary left.
Nia Mitchell let out a silent breath of relief. She had initially thought the CEO was looking for her; it seed she had been overthinking things.
Damn it, it’s working hours; I can’t let my mind wander!
After the CEO left, a sudden buzz of discussion erupted in the Secretary Departnt.
Gossip filled the air, but everyone was essentially saying the sa thing: Shirley Grant, who had worked for years without ever taking a day off or being late, hadn’t shown up yet today.
The CEO was going to hold a eting, and they needed to prepare the docunts. But with Shirley Grant absent, who would do it? Who *could* do it?
