At MC Group, Sophia Moore’s face turned beet red when she heard Maxwell Peary’s words.
Sophia Moore felt awkward and unsure what to do, as if everyone’s gaze was like sharp needles, pricking her all over.
Just monts ago, Sophia Moore had been telling Nia Mitchell how angry Maxwell Peary was. She never imagined he would show up right afterward.
She wasn’t even sure if he’d heard what she said.
"Mr. Peary..." Sophia Moore said, her face still burning as she glanced at Maxwell Peary, her voice lacking confidence.
Maxwell Peary didn’t even look at her.
"Effective today, you are no longer the Head Secretary."
Sophia Moore froze, looking at Maxwell Peary in disbelief.
"Mr. Peary..."
How... how could he remove her from her position over such a trivial matter?
"No need for further discussion," Maxwell Peary interrupted before Sophia Moore could say more, turning his gaze to Nia Mitchell.
"From now on, you’re transferred to be the assistant to the Special Assistant. Pack your things and move to the Special Assistant’s office now."
After saying this, Maxwell Peary turned and left.
Nia Mitchell blinked, finding it hard to believe what she had just heard.
She was being transferred? Suddenly? Since when did a Special Assistant need an assistant? Was this a promotion or a demotion?
Sophia Moore bit her lip and stamped her foot. She had been demoted out of the blue, and yet this Nia Mitchell...
"Nia Mitchell! You’re pretty pleased with yourself, aren’t you?" Sophia Moore roared, shoving Nia Mitchell aside and storming back to her own seat in a huff.
Nia Mitchell swallowed awkwardly. She herself still had no idea what was going on.
"Sophia Moore, congratulations."
In Sophia Moore’s eyes, she was no good anyway, so she might as well say sothing to irk her.
After saying this, Nia Mitchell began to pack her things.
The CEO’s mind was beyond her comprehension; no point wasting brain cells on it.
"Hmph, you think you’ll be safe and sound? Be careful, you might get demoted even faster than I did!" Sophia Moore snapped, then ignored Nia Mitchell.
Nia Mitchell, in fact, didn’t have much to pack. She quickly tidied up and went to the Special Assistant’s office.
"AH!" Nia Mitchell exclaid as she pushed open the door, startled to see Maxwell Peary standing inside the office.
"Why are you here?" she asked, frowning as she patted her rapidly beating heart.
"Why can’t I be here?" Maxwell Peary asked, his expression unchanging as he walked to the sofa and sat down.
"You were just..." Nia Mitchell started to say he had just returned to his own office, but stopped mid-sentence, rembering his office had an elevator connecting to this one.
"Fine. What are you doing here?" Nia Mitchell pouted, placing the items in her hands where Alan Morgan’s desk had been.
Looking around, the room’s furnishings were exactly as before; there was no desk for her at all. It was clear how rushed Maxwell Peary’s decision had been.
"It’s much better here," Maxwell Peary said. "You won’t be squeezed in with so many people in one office, and you won’t have to face so many of them."
The main point was, if he wanted to see her, he just had to take the elevator. In the Secretary Departnt office, he hardly ever saw her during work hours.
"Is that really the reason?" Nia Mitchell couldn’t believe such words had actually co from the CEO.
She flopped onto the sofa as if she had no bones.
"What, you don’t accept this reason?" Maxwell Peary turned to look at Nia Mitchell beside him, gently adjusting her hair.
"Okay, I accept!"
