Just by seeing Yancy Hastings’ expression, Evelyn Peary knew he had misunderstood. Any explanation would be futile. So she said nothing.
"Big bro, do you want so more dishes?"
Maxwell Peary shook his head. "Your sister-in-law and I will leave first."
Nia Mitchell looked at Maxwell Peary in surprise. His mood has seed off since he returned.
"But you haven’t eaten," Nia said.
Evelyn Peary was sowhat taken aback; she didn’t expect Maxwell Peary would leave without eating.
Such was the CEO’s difficult temperant. Without sparing Evelyn Peary another glance, he took Nia Mitchell’s hand and left Madgar Pavilion.
Once they were in the Rolls-Royce, the atmosphere inside grew oppressive. Maxwell Peary remained silent.
Nia Mitchell sat in the passenger seat, constantly trying to guess what had happened. However, even if she had ten days, she couldn’t figure out what was on Maxwell Peary’s mind.
Before Nia Mitchell could say anything more, Maxwell Peary suddenly got out of the car, leaned against the vehicle, and lit a cigarette.
Nia Mitchell wanted to go out and comfort him, but her phone suddenly rang.
"Hello?"
It was Fiona Sutton.
"Nia Mitchell!!!"
Fiona Sutton scread, startling Nia Mitchell.
"What’s wrong?"
Nia Mitchell was confused. Weren’t they just fine a mont ago when they were talking on the phone?
"Why didn’t you tell ? Nia Mitchell, what the hell do you an?"
Fiona Sutton was standing on the main road outside the school, and next to her stood Charles Northwood.
"What exactly is wrong?"
"Why didn’t you tell you’re married?!"
Fiona Sutton shrieked, her voice so loud that passersby turned to stare.
"You..."
A thousand words suddenly caught in Nia Mitchell’s throat; for a mont, she didn’t know what to say.
"Nia Mitchell! We’re not friends anymore!"
Fiona Sutton, always hot-headed and prone to speaking without thinking, blurted it out.
Both of them were stunned.
An abrupt silence fell over the phone line.
Nia Mitchell panicked. She hadn’t expected such an intense reaction from Fiona Sutton.
"Fiona, listen to , I can explain."
So much had happened, and she couldn’t explain it all at once. She had wanted to wait for the right mont, to get them together and explain everything properly.
But nothing was going according to her plan.
How did Fiona Sutton find out about this? Clearly, Charles Northwood told her.
Nia Mitchell’s guess was correct; the news had indeed been leaked by Charles Northwood.
The reason was simple: just a few minutes earlier, Fiona Sutton had seen him with a student from University A’s Chinese Departnt.
That student was none other than Tara Jason, the one who had taken him ho when he was drunk.
"Charles Northwood!"
Seeing Charles Northwood with soone else, Fiona Sutton had imdiately flared up.
Subsequently, as one might expect, she caused a huge scene and berated Tara Jason until she left.
Even soone as good-tempered as Charles Northwood had his limits. He couldn’t help but rebuke Fiona Sutton.
And so, everything circled back to square one.
"You know I like you! I can accept that you like Nia Mitchell, but how could you hang out with these students?"
"We’re just friends."
Charles Northwood explained patiently, but Fiona Sutton wouldn’t listen.
"Then go confess your feelings to Nia Mitchell! What kind of man are you, being so spineless? If you lose Nia Mitchell because of this, you’ll end up miserable!"
"She’s already married!"
