"SCREECH—"
The deafening sound of brakes echoed throughout Capital Town as Yancy Hastings’s military vehicle halted steadily in front of Fiona Sutton.
The security guards, seeing the military vehicle stop, felt sowhat afraid. In Capital Town, you could probably hit soone influential with every swing of a stick. They were just working for others, earning a hard living, and couldn’t afford to offend anyone with status and prestige.
"What’s going on!?" Yancy Hastings got out of the vehicle. His figure in a camouflage suit under the heavy rain beca even more imposing and stern. The soldier’s iron-blooded aura seed to perate the air, lending a grim intensity to the heavy rain. Water dripped down his resolute, wheat-colored face, tracing the sharp angles of his cheeks. So drops fell directly to the ground, while others trickled past his Adam’s apple and onto his chest.
Fiona Sutton had to admit, At this mont, this crude man is incredibly handso.
"This girl has been causing trouble and assaulting people," one of the n in security guard uniforms spoke up.
Yancy Hastings frowned, only then looking at the woman who had stopped his vehicle. After a glance, his mouth twitched, thoroughly exasperated. Isn’t this Fiona Sutton?
"Are you causing trouble again?"
Again!? Hearing this word, Fiona Sutton wanted to curse him out and then slap him hard across the face. But... no. I can’t.
"What do you an by ’causing trouble again’? I’m being bullied! Are you going to help or not?" Fiona Sutton blinked, grabbed his sleeve, and shook it relentlessly.
Yancy Hastings was left speechless.
"Don’t go running around outside on a rainy day," his resolute voice cut in.
Fiona Sutton looked up in surprise. Is this soldier actually falling for this act? Is he concerned about ?
"So your brain doesn’t get waterlogged and you don’t do sothing that asks for a beating."
Fiona Sutton was rendered speechless.
PFFT—
She felt like she was about to cough up blood from frustration. "You... you..." Damn it, when you’re under soone else’s roof, you have to bow your head. I’ll endure it.
Yancy Hastings pulled her to his side with one hand, then looked at the group of security guards. "How are you planning to handle this?"
HISS—
The security guards all sucked in a sharp breath. They looked at the insignia on Yancy Hastings’s shoulder, then at the military vehicle. Who knew that girl actually knew such an important person?
"It was all a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!" they chorused, faces plastered with smiles, and then quickly dispersed one after another.
In just a few minutes, Yancy Hastings had caused a traffic jam, with many vehicles backed up behind him. People are more prone to irritability in heavy rain, yet no one stuck in the queue honked their horn to urge him on. This alone spoke volus about Yancy Hastings’s status.
Among those caught in the long line of traffic, a few recognized Yancy Hastings. They had initially wanted to get out of their cars to greet him, but the rain was too heavy. Seeing that Yancy Hastings wasn’t using an umbrella either, they realized the timing wasn’t right and could only watch helplessly as he drove away.
Now in the passenger seat, Fiona Sutton was busy wiping herself dry with a towel. She turned to look at Yancy Hastings, whose face remained expressionless.
"You can just drop off at University A," she said, feigning calmness as she noticed the route they were taking seed increasingly off track.
"What do you think would happen if I took you to the Police Bureau instead?"
Fiona Sutton froze. Yancy Hastings’s slightly mocking voice echoed in her mind.
She sat there, her mind racing. Yancy Hastings seems to hold a high rank, and he’s a special forces soldier. The kind of people he’d send to the Police Bureau would either be heinous criminals or people he has a grudge against. And to make matters worse, the Police Bureau has already issued so notice to various corporations, making it impossible for to find work. If I’m sent to the Police Bureau again, judging by how those people operate... I’d most likely be tornted to death in there.
