Shirley Grant hadn’t expected him to suddenly get angry, and she was quite scared.
Not only was she scared, but Gerry Peary also trembled slightly.
"Don’t be scared, Gerry Peary."
Ethan Martinez noticed Gerry Peary’s small reaction right away and quickly tried to comfort him.
"I’m sorry, Gerry Peary. Your uncle didn’t an to yell at you."
Ethan Martinez patted Gerry Peary’s small head. Seeing him sitting on the bed, he couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
"Your uncle has to discuss sothing with your mother. Can you sit here for a while, Gerry Peary?"
He coaxed Gerry Peary gently. No anger could be seen in his eyes.
"Okay."
Gerry Peary nodded obediently, grinning sweetly.
After soothing Gerry Peary, Ethan Martinez turned his head to look at Shirley Grant, who was standing to the side.
"Let’s step outside for a mont."
Stepping out of the ward, Shirley Grant could no longer pretend to be strong. Looking as if she had lost all her strength, she leaned against the wall.
"Tell , what exactly happened?"
Why hasn’t he shown up despite the money being given? Could it be that he had no expectation for Gerry Peary to survive?
"There’s no reason."
Shirley Grant didn’t want to tell him that she had sold Alan Morgan’s house. In any case, it was no longer important.
Alan Morgan wasn’t there. He hadn’t called. This already said everything.
Outside the window, rain fell ceaselessly. Shirley Grant’s face was pale.
"How can there be no reason?"
Is she treating as a fool?
"Don’t ask. Anyway, I have the money, and this money is truly his. Gerry Peary is his son; it’s only right for him to take responsibility, isn’t it?"
Shirley Grant was not composed but weak. She spoke in broken sentences, as if void of emotion.
Pale, with no intention of justifying herself, she stood there, looking as if all life had drained from her.
"Why didn’t he co?"
Ethan Martinez couldn’t believe a man could be so heartless. The person lying in there was his biological son.
"Or you can tell , why did you two break up seven years ago?"
Seven years. Those two words seed like a rusty knife. It might not have been sharp anymore, but it could still hurt.
"It’s nothing. It’s all in the past."
Past matters don’t need to be brought up.
"Then tell , does Alan Morgan know about Gerry Peary’s existence? Has he ever considered fulfilling any fatherly responsibilities?"
Shirley Grant felt a splitting headache. She raised her head to look at Ethan Martinez, who was standing there.
"He doesn’t like , so naturally, he also wouldn’t like Gerry Peary. I told him. I inford him of Gerry Peary’s condition and told him where I was. But he never appeared. Doesn’t that explain everything?"
No matter what had happened before, Gerry Peary was his son. He could be so ruthless. This just showed how much he hated .
"BANG!"
Suddenly, a loud noise ca from the ward. Startled, Shirley Grant quickly ran over.
"Gerry Peary!"
Upon opening the door, she saw Gerry Peary lying on the floor near the doorway. It was obvious Gerry Peary had been eavesdropping.
"Gerry Peary! Gerry Peary!!!"
Shirley Grant yelled, and Ethan Martinez quickly called a doctor upon seeing the situation.
Once again outside the Resuscitation Room, Shirley Grant sat on a chair, her hands covering her eyes, tears wetting her palms.
She was so filled with regret. Why did I say those things? Why didn’t I walk farther away!
"SOB... SOB..."
She could no longer contain her sobs and cried, tears streaming down her face.
"I’m sorry."
Ethan Martinez walked over and sat next to her. If it weren’t for my endless questions...
"Ethan!"
Shirley Grant suddenly turned around, embraced him tightly, and buried her head in his chest.
"What should I do? What should I do? ..."
