Ti seed to stand still; even breathing felt heavy.
Shirley Grant clung tightly to Ethan Martinez, trying to draw strength from him.
"I’m sorry." Ethan was still apologizing, his eyes slightly vacant.
It was his fault. It was all his fault. If he hadn’t been so eager to find out, Shirley wouldn’t have said anything. If she hadn’t said anything, Gerry Peary would never have known, and he wouldn’t have collapsed, unable to bear it...
"I knew... I knew... I’ve always known..." Shirley sobbed nonstop, tears streaming down her face as she slowly let go of Ethan.
"I knew that Gerry Peary... Gerry Peary has always desperately wanted to et his father."
He longed for a father. More than anyone, he wanted to et Alan Morgan.Perhaps this is the innate bond between father and son, sothing carried in their very blood and bones; she couldn’t change it.Even if she gave her all to Gerry Peary, he still wanted to see him.
"No, no." Ethan comforted Shirley, gently stroking her back with his hand. "Gerry Peary knows the hardships you’ve endured. He has always been very considerate of you, so don’t overthink things."
Gerry Peary is very sensible; he just couldn’t handle the shock...
"If... if sothing really happens to Gerry Peary... because of this, I’ll never forgive myself."
He hasn’t even t Alan Morgan yet.She had decided: once Gerry Peary was safely out of danger, she would go find Alan Morgan. She would beg him. She was willing to give anything to beg that man, to plead with him to co and see Gerry Peary just once...Just one look...One look would be enough.
This ti was different from last night; they waited for a long ti before the light in the Ergency Room finally went out.
"How is he, Doctor?" Shirley lunged forward, her face full of anticipation.
"There’s no imdiate danger to his life for now, but we still need to observe him closely. The next few days are crucial. You all need to pay more attention to him." The doctor looked at Shirley and sighed.
"His body is currently not fit for surgery. Let’s wait a bit longer and see."
Even if Shirley agreed to the surgery now, no one would dare to proceed, as Gerry Peary’s condition was extrely critical.
"I understand." Shirley nodded, finally breathing a sigh of relief.
"Then where is Gerry Peary?" Not having seen Gerry Peary wheeled out for a long ti, Shirley was starting to get anxious.
"Just a mont, he’ll be out soon." After the doctor finished speaking and left, Shirley continued to stand outside, waiting.
"It’s alright, this will pass." Ethan comforted her. Just then, his phone rang; it was his assistant.
"Hello? I’m at the Hospital."
"Korean Superstar, you’d better get over here quickly! Don’t forget you accepted a comrcial shoot. And let tell you, this comrcial is fantastic—you absolutely cannot stand them up!"
The assistant was genuinely afraid Ethan might find so excuse to back out of the shoot, as such things had happened before. He was a repeat offender.
"I know, I’ll be there soon. Even robots need to eat, don’t they?" Ethan furrowed his brows, his handso face, now creased, taking on an imposing air that was hard to look away from.
"Alright, alright! Two o’clock in the afternoon. This organizer hates tardiness more than anything, so you be careful. You absolutely, positively must be on ti!"
The assistant pleaded earnestly. After all, Ethan was a big star now; being late was almost expected given his incredibly hectic schedule.
