Hearing the sound of footsteps, Nia Mitchell quickly closed her eyes and buried herself beneath the blanket, pretending to be sound asleep.
However, her ears were straining to pick up any sounds around her.
Maxwell Peary walked in and looked at the large lump on the bed. He then placed the milk on the table and sat down in a nearby chair.
"I haven’t eaten dinner yet. I was busy working until now."
He suddenly spoke, his voice sounding a bit pitiful.
Lying on the bed, Nia startled, her small shoulders tensing.
A tense thirty seconds later, the lump under the blanket began to stir.
Nia turned over and looked at Maxwell, whose expression was unreadable.
"Uncle."
Her eyes were slightly red. She hadn’t realized he had been so busy.
"How can you skip dinner?"
als are very important for a person. He had even missed his, and it was already past one in the morning.
"I was too busy."
Seeing the little bunny’s red eyes fixed on him, filled with both concern and bla, Maxwell felt his heart blossom with joy.
Seeing her like this, Maxwell picked up the milk and walked over to her.
"Co, let’s drink the milk."
He handed her the cup of pink milk.
Nia hesitated for a mont before taking the cup.
"I don’t really need to drink it; I’m not hungry. But you should have the butler prepare sothing for you to eat."
Saying this, Nia threw back the covers, preparing to get out of bed.
Seeing her about to get up, Maxwell quickly pressed her shoulder.
"You don’t need to trouble yourself. Just drink your milk and rest."
With that, Maxwell also picked up the other cup of milk, hesitated for a mont, then drank it all in one go.
Watching him finish his milk so decisively, Nia had no choice but to drink hers as well.
Maxwell took the empty cup from her, placed it on the nearby table, and carefully tucked the corner of her blanket.
"I’ll go wash up and be back in a bit."
He said this and then headed to the bathroom.
Perhaps he was too tired today. He rushed through washing up in just ten minutes, then got into bed.
He looped an arm around the woman beside him. A slight smile touched his lips as he closed his eyes.

It felt as if only an instant had passed when the sky was already bright. For once, Nia woke up before Maxwell.
She opened her eyes and looked at the man sleeping soundly before her.
Such a handso face.
A smile touched her lips, and she reached out to poke his cheek lightly.
"Uncle?"
She called out gently, then lay still.
"HMM..."
Groggy, Maxwell mumbled a response but kept his eyes closed, still feeling out of sorts.
Two minutes later, Nia opened her dazzling eyes again.
"Uncle?"
She called out again, then closed her eyes once more.
"HMM..."
Maxwell responded again but said nothing else.
Another two minutes passed, and Nia opened her eyes again.
"Uncle?"
Three strikes and you’re out!
Maxwell finally snapped. His eyes flew open, and in a swift move, he flipped over and pinned her beneath him.
"Speak. What did you call for?"
His threatening tone sent shivers down her spine.
Nia froze, her eyes widening as she felt his weight upon her, her gaze fixed on the CEO’s face.
"I... I just wanted to see if Uncle was really awake."
Nia swallowed, hesitantly uttering the words.
She was afraid the CEO would suddenly transform into a wolf, and then she would have truly woven her own snare.
