Edbert Mitchell furrowed his brows, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly. This Maxwell Peary, he really hasn’t changed. Still so vindictive and capable of such things.
So, he replied with a ssage: "Heh."
Heh, in your face.
Maxwell Peary paid no attention to this, his mood becoming even more cheerful.
Nia Mitchell, of course, knew nothing about all this that had happened in secret. She returned to the Secretary Departnt and quietly continued her work.
Because of the vague relationship between Nia Mitchell and Maxwell Peary, no one in the Secretary Departnt dared to ridicule her now.
After all, even if she was just a lover, she was already labelled as "Young Master Peary’s woman."
Ti ticked by. When it was ti to get off work, not a single person had left the Office Room.
Nia Mitchell’s mouth twitched. Why does it feel like these people are secretly observing ?
She thought for a long ti. Ti seed to pass faster and faster, and soon it was already ten past five. Nia Mitchell reached up and massaged her temples.
Not a single person had left work. It was as if they had all silently agreed to stay, and no one said a word.
The office was eerily silent, lacking any of the usual end-of-day bustle.
Suddenly, Nia Mitchell’s phone rang.
"Hello?"
Maxwell Peary sat displeased in his office. He had been waiting for her for over ten minutes. Why hasn’t she co over yet?
"Where are you?"
Maxwell Peary’s displeasure was evident through the phone, and Nia Mitchell could only lower her voice.
"I’m in the Office Room."
Is there anything to be confused about? Could he possibly think I’ve already snuck off?
Maxwell Peary was taken aback. He furrowed his brows irritably and then glanced at the ti.
"It’s past closing ti."
Is this Rabina Mitchell working overti?
Nia Mitchell was exasperated. Of course, I know that.
"I know, but no one in the Office Room has left yet."
Maxwell Peary looked thoroughly displeased. Just because others haven’t left, she won’t leave either?
"Get over here now!"
The command was abrupt. Nia Mitchell paused for a mont, then nodded and hung up.
After hanging up, she frowned, displeased, and walked towards his office.
Under everyone’s gaze, she entered the CEO’s office.
"Nobody has left work yet." Nia Mitchell pouted her lips, looking sowhat annoyed.
"So, you aren’t leaving work because others haven’t?"
Maxwell Peary shot Nia Mitchell an unhappy glare, then gathered his things and stood up.
"Let’s go, we are leaving work now."
After speaking, holding a docunt folder in one hand, he used his free hand to grasp Nia Mitchell’s small hand.
Nia Mitchell froze, her face turning red.
Seeing her reaction, Maxwell Peary’s lips curled up at the corners, and he leaned his upper body slightly towards her.
"Nia Mitchell."
His voice carried a unique tone—slightly hoarse and deep.
"Yes?" Nia Mitchell’s face was flushed; she had no idea what he was about to say.
"Mr. Peary would like to ask you: how is it that every ti we hold hands, you blush so innocently?"
His voice was teasing, and his words made Nia Mitchell’s face turn even redder.
She flinched, struggled hard, and finally managed to wrench her hand free from the CEO’s grasp, her expression instantly wary.
"I... I did not!" Her nervousness made her stutter. She couldn’t even see her own face, but just from the heat she felt, she knew it must be incredibly red.
