Maxwell Peary said nothing further. He reached out once more, took her hand, and they walked out of the CEO’s office together.
Inside the Secretary Departnt, everyone was chattering excitedly, wondering what Nia Mitchell had been doing in there. So were not curious at all and prepared to leave. But before they could, they saw Maxwell erge from the CEO Office, holding Nia’s hand and heading towards the elevator.
This was absolutely groundbreaking news, the kind of thing you only dread about. Everyone in Capital Town knew that Young Master Peary kept to himself and didn’t have a girlfriend. Many won had tried to get close to him, but all had failed. How, then, could a man like him be seen holding Nia’s hand?
Everyone began to speculate, and a flurry of discussion ensued.
"Who do you guys think Nia Mitchell is? How did she get so lucky?"
She was the object of their envy and admiration.
"Who knows? Weren’t they said to be lovers? But sothing about it feels off."
Who in this world had the privilege to just take the CEO’s hand like that? Truth be told, no matter who stood beside Maxwell Peary, people would find it hard to accept.
Nia’s face flushed bright red, looking as if she’d been bullied. Her small hand was held tightly, and she could feel the warmth of the CEO’s palm. Although their relationship was incredibly intimate, they rarely held hands. She felt a tad uneasy, especially in front of so many people.
"Let go of ," Nia struggled awkwardly a couple of tis, keeping her voice low so only the CEO could hear.
Hearing the protest from the young woman beside him and sensing her struggle, Maxwell frowned slightly and abruptly halted. Nia froze, stopping as well. Coincidentally, they halted right in front of the Secretary Departnt’s Grand Gate.
"Wha... What’s wrong?" Nia’s eyes widened, and she looked at him in confusion.
A smirk played on Maxwell’s lips as he forcefully pulled her closer. He leaned down, their faces re inches apart.
"You want to let you go?" His voice was laced with seduction, sending shivers down her spine.
Nia awkwardly tried to push him away, but would the CEO allow her to push him away in front of so many people? Wouldn’t that be too embarrassing?
"You’d better behave. I don’t mind kissing you in front of all these people until your legs give out."
BOOM—
Nia’s mind went blank. Her face flushed so intensely it felt like it might actually start bleeding.
"You... you..." Nia couldn’t find her voice, nor did she know what to say. She could only stand there, stiff as a board.
Seeing her stunned expression, Maxwell shook his head, leaned down, and lightly kissed her crimson lips.
"Let’s go." He continued to lead her forward. This ti, Nia didn’t struggle; she was so disoriented she didn’t know which way was up. Like a robot, she allowed the CEO to lead her on.
"Mrs. Peary, do you realize how adorable you look when you’re so dazed?" His voice was a low murmur, audible only to her. Nia pouted.
"I don’t want to talk to you," Nia huffed, throwing a small tantrum. He’s gone too far, kissing in front of so many people! He actually dared to do sothing so embarrassing! How am I supposed to face my colleagues now?
