He once again found a safe location in the core region and settled into seclusion.
Lin Tang could fly. He had no need to traverse mountains and ridges, nor did he care for the natural traps of the wilderness. He descended directly from the sky, landing on the roof of a fortified building.
"Is this the place?" he asked Zhao Xinghe.
Zhao Xinghe was on the verge of vomiting, his head spinning. Seeing Lin Tang's impatience, he quickly suppressed his nausea and nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes! This is it! I'll go down and knock..."
"No need for such trouble!"
Lin Tang threw a punch. The building opposite him exploded into a shower of splintered wood, which burst into roaring flas from the intense friction. A deafening boom spread out, waking everyone inside.
"An earthquake?"
"Or a landslide?"
"Run!"
They scrambled outdoors in a panic. So were buck naked; others clutched their pillows. As they gathered in an open area and stared at the flas, they were completely bewildered about what had just happened.
"What are you panicking for? Calm down!" Zhao Xingyun, the patriarch of the Zhao Family, strode to the front with a dark expression.
Just as he was about to order an investigation, his vision blurred. An instant later, he found himself being choked by Lin Tang, who had appeared out of thin air.
"It's you?!" Zhao Xingyun's expression changed dramatically.
The people around him were also shocked and instinctively attacked.
"How audacious!"
"Where did this blind assassin co from, daring to attack our patriarch?"
"Die!"
"Stop!" Zhao Xingyun shouted frantically, but he was too late.
Lin Tang didn't even move. All those who had lunged at him were sent flying backward, spitting blood, and crashed to the ground, instantly dead.
"All of you, back off!" Zhao Xingyun shrieked, his eyes bloodshot. The dead were his closest relatives!
The survivors complied, staring at Lin Tang with a mixture of terror and dread.
Zhao Xinghe rubbed his nose and walked to Lin Tang's side. Looking at Zhao Xingyun, he felt none of the pleasure he had anticipated from his revenge. He had always dread of returning, of making Zhao Xingyun grovel at his feet.
"Zhao Xinghe, you traitor! Not only did you break your promise, but you brought him here yourself! You just want to see the Zhao Family wiped out, don't you? You're so vicious!" Zhao Xingyun said through gritted teeth.
The crowd looked closer and saw it was indeed Zhao Xinghe. They stared at him with anger and disappointnt.
Zhao Xinghe gave a bitter smile. "I only promised I would do my best to persuade my master. He wouldn't listen to , so what could I do?"
"Hmph!"
Zhao Xingyun opened his mouth to curse again, but an impatient Lin Tang simply twisted his neck, snapping it.
He then surveyed the crowd. "From now on, Zhao Xinghe is the head of the Zhao Family. Who is in favor, and who is opposed?"
"Dad!" A figure scrambled toward Zhao Xingyun's corpse, weeping in agony, his eyes filled with seething hatred. "I oppose—"
BANG!
Lin Tang swatted him dead with a casual wave.
"I also oppose!"
"And !"
So stubbornly protested. Others attempted a sneak attack.
BANG! BANG!
Lin Tang killed them one after another without the slightest effort. He stopped only when the remaining survivors were all kneeling and begging for rcy.
"Anyone else? No one? Good."
He didn't even need to interrogate them. A single sweep of his Divine Sense was all it took to locate the Zhao Family's secret vault. The vault door was extrely thick. Without a key, even explosives might not have been able to breach it.
But this posed no challenge for Lin Tang.
With a single stroke, his flying sword sliced through it as if it were tofu, easily splitting the massive door in two.
Upon entering, he discovered several types of materials containing Spiritual Energy. One of them was a painting. The canvas was made from the chest hide of an Exotic Beast Sky-reaching Ape.
The painting's content was, of course, the visualization diagram for the Heart Monkey Nine Calming Techniques. Its chaotic lines ford the image of a roaring, savage ape. On closer inspection, however, the ape no longer seed to be roaring. Instead, it sat serenely like a ditating Buddha, peaceful and tranquil.
Lin Tang gladly helped himself to all these spiritual materials. He also randomly selected a few dicinal herbs and ores that he deed sowhat acceptable. As for the gold and jewels, he had no interest whatsoever, not even bothering to give them a second glance.
"Hm? What's this..."
With a flick of his wrist, a book landed in his hand. He flipped through it and saw it was a ledger. Lin Tang didn't care for the specific figures, but the exact addresses of several reclusive families recorded within certainly caught his attention.
I wonder if their secret vaults also have so spiritual materials tucked away?
With that thought, he went back outside. After randomly questioning a few people, he issued an order to Zhao Xinghe.
"Leave the old, weak, sick, and disabled behind. Take all the remaining able-bodied n to the Heavenly chanism Martial Alliance and await my orders." He stared directly into Zhao Xinghe's eyes, his voice dropping to a low tone. "I have morized the face and number of every person here. When I return for a headcount, for every person who has fled, I will kill ten."
Zhao Xinghe's scalp went numb. He kowtowed frantically. "I swear I will watch them closely, Master! If anyone escapes, I am willing to accept death as my punishnt!"
"Very good." Lin Tang patted him on the shoulder. "Handle this matter well, and I can help you reach the Great Master realm."
"Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master!" Zhao Xinghe was instantly overco with joy.
He watched in awe as Lin Tang soared into the sky and departed. Seeing that this terrifying man could fly, the other clan mbers were so astonished that they extinguished any remaining thought of rebellion.
They cautiously asked around, trying to learn the identity of this god of death. When they discovered he was Long Tianji, it all made sense.
No wonder Zhao Xingyun was killed. He must have been completely deluded to have provoked Long Tianji in the first place! Now, not only was he dead, but he had also dragged the entire Zhao Family into slavery...
「Yunng Marsh.」
The terrain here was also complex and fraught with danger. The Feng Family, another reclusive clan, was entrenched here. After many years of consolidation, the area surrounding the Feng Family's territory was fortified like an iron fortress.
Furthermore, because the location was so remote, it was far beyond the reach of any governnt, becoming a paradise for criminals. People from all walks of life, both savory and unsavory, followed specific routes to co and go, engaging in all kinds of trade. The Feng Family grew obscenely wealthy just by collecting fees from the trading grounds.
Several SUVs ca to a stop at a specific point on the outermost edge of Yunng Marsh.
