"Mr. Shane!"

Fern cried out in alarm.

No one had expected Eisen to suddenly launch an attack.

Not even Frieren had any ti to react—when Eisen brushed past her and charged forward, she didn't respond at all.

Boom—

A deafening explosion shattered the stillness of the forest.

Eisen's fist slamd rcilessly into Shane.

A powerful, invisible shockwave burst outward, instantly blasting the two mages away.

Frieren stabilized herself midair with [Flight Magic], staring in surprise toward Eisen and Shane.

Fern's back crashed into a nearby tree. Before she could even steady herself, her staff had already appeared in her hand, aid at Eisen—but she hesitated, unsure whether she should cast a spell.

That was Eisen…

Why would this happen…

At the center of the disturbance—

Shane's face had turned green.

Looking at the fist pressed against his chest, he felt imnse relief that he possessed the [Nurical Mirroring] attribute.

Just monts ago, the instant their eyes t, his brain hadn't even had ti to process anything. Acting purely on instinct, he had activated [Nurical Mirroring]. Thanks to the boost from [Great Luck], the mirroring had successfully taken effect.

That instinctive reaction had just saved his life.

In that instant, his physical stats had matched Eisen's.

The fist that struck his chest now felt like nothing at all…

"Oh?"

Eisen let out a puzzled sound, then lifted his head and carefully examined Shane.

"So this is the effect of [Nurical Mirroring]? Just as Heiter said, the [Sage] class really has been underestimated."

As he spoke, he withdrew his fist.

"Sorry. Heiter asked to test your abilities. That just now was a little joke."

There was nothing funny about that!

If it was a test, why not give a warning first?!

If he hadn't gone through several life-or-death situations before—if his body hadn't reacted on its own—he would already be on his knees…

"Shane, are you alright?"

Hearing Frieren and Fern's imdiate concern eased so of the frustration in his heart. But when he spoke to Eisen, his tone still carried a trace of irritation.

"Well, thank you very much for that, Mr. Eisen."

Eisen showed no particular expression. "Reaction speed is the key to survival on the battlefield. Experience in situations like that will be useful to you."

"..."

That teaching style—identical to Frieren's—was honestly infuriating.

Beside them, Frieren looked at Eisen with so confusion.

"I didn't expect you to know about Shane."

"I exchange letters with Heiter quite often."

"That's surprising. I didn't know your relationship had beco so close."

"That's because you're too cold and indifferent."

After a brief exchange—

They entered Eisen's small cabin.

Frieren and Fern fit perfectly inside, but Shane had to lower his head just to stand, risking bumping into sothing at any mont.

Watching Shane's awkward posture, Eisen couldn't help but think of Heiter.

That tall priest had been far less polite the first ti he stepped into this cabin—he had loudly complained without restraint.

Compared to that, Shane was much better.

At least he wasn't complaining.

"This is for you."

Eisen took a book from the cabinet and handed it to Shane.

"Heiter asked to find it for you. I hope it helps."

Shane was tilting his head to avoid the ceiling beam. The mont he saw what Eisen was holding, his whole body jolted—

Bang!

With the enhancent from the [Iron Head] attribute, Shane's skull was now practically as hard as a hamr… and the beam above him dented inward slightly.

At the sa ti, a flood of information appeared before his eyes.

Looking at the dense information, Shane could barely contain his excitent.

He hadn't expected Heiter to be this generous!

During the ti he had lived with Heiter, the priest had analyzed his strengths and weaknesses in combat. With [Nurical Mirroring], he could match any opponent in raw stats—but combat wasn't determined by numbers alone.

Combat skill proficiency, tactical thinking, and adaptability in the mont—all of these could influence the outco of a battle.

Because of that, Heiter had suggested he learn a sword style.

After so effort, the two of them had found a traditional sword technique from the southern nations. It didn't have high technical requirents, focused entirely on practicality, and offered a significant boost to attack speed—perfect for Shane.

Unfortunately, the sword manuals had been scattered during years of war in the southern nations.

And yet, Eisen had managed to find the improved version created by the Southern Hero!

All the earlier frustration vanished in an instant.

Shane's gaze toward Eisen imdiately beca much warr.

...

Seeing the atmosphere between Eisen and Shane improve—

Frieren seized the mont to invite Eisen to join their party and explained everything about the "Saint of the End."

"Fern and I are both mages. In battle, relying on Shane alone to draw the enemy isn't enough. We need a strong vanguard."

Eisen stroked his beard, thinking for a mont, before ultimately shaking his head.

"I'm old now. I can't swing an axe like I used to."

"I see…"

Frieren looked a little disappointed, but she didn't press further.

"Don't make that face, Frieren. Life after growing old is longer than you'd think. You've seen Heiter, haven't you? You should understand by now."

At Eisen's words, a flicker of mory seed to pass through Frieren's eyes.

"Heiter asked to pass on a ssage. He said he won that bet from before."

"I didn't expect you to take on a disciple, or to travel with companions. Even if you hadn't said anything, I'd know he won."

Eisen's gaze swept over Fern and Shane.

The two of them were sitting at the other end of the table, heads close together, studying the [Southern Hero's Swordsmanship Insights].

Frieren looked at them as well, her expression softening.

"Heiter encouraged to begin a new journey."

"I see."

"Hey, Frieren… I have a request too. Will you hear out?"
