Now reading: Chapter 738: The Chase Route from From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals, a Action novel by HambinoRanx.

The passage did not wait for bravery.

It opened between two Lost Property shelves, black and narrow, lined with public crystals that had gone blind. The missing finger pointed into it from Ty's hand. The crystals answered by showing nothing, which felt less like darkness and more like attention holding its breath.

JJ stepped beside Ty. "Please tell the plan is not run into the obviously cursed hallway."

"It points there."

"That is not a plan. That is a bone with confidence."

Omina moved before Ty could. She caught the edge of the nearest shelf and studied the passage like a commander reading a battlefield through smoke.

"Zunoder wants speed. Erebos wants emotional shortcuts. The office wants paynt. So we move fast without being simple."

Yun-Jin pushed herself off the crate with a grimace. "That sounded like yes with extra steps."

"Yes," Omina said.

Heissman tucked the inconvenience form into his coat. "I am bringing this. It may beco evidence, comfort, or kindling."

The clerk behind the counter stamped without looking up.

UNAUTHORIZED PURSUIT NOT RECOMNDED.

Ty looked at the stamp.

"Good."

"Custor misunderstands warning function."

"No."

He entered the passage.

The air cut cold through his bones. Crystals blinked awake one by one as the others followed. Each showed a different angle of the sa chase: Zunoder in the maintenance hall, Zunoder on a stairwell, Zunoder reflected in a phone on Earth, Zunoder walking beside the woman who had carried noodles. She had no bowl now. Her hands were empty, which made her look more vulnerable than fear did.

JJ saw her. "He has a civilian."

"He has a witness," Omina said.

The difference mattered. Ty hated it.

Ahead, the passage split into three routes. The finger in Ty's hand pointed left. His chest fla pulled right. A crystal in the center showed Jade's basent, phones going black one by one while Waddell ordered copies of the witness list made by hand.

Zunoder appeared in the left route reflection and spoke to the woman beside him.

"You should go back."

She stopped. He had known she would. Advice made the right people disobey.

"Are you going to hurt ?" she asked.

Zunoder gave her Ty's tired smile. "I do not know anymore."

JJ's mouth tightened. "That is ugly."

"It is useful," Heissman said. "He admits uncertainty instead of promising safety. So frightened people mistake that for honesty."

Ty stepped left. Omina caught his shoulder.

"Wait."

The right route cracked. A child scread from one of the crystals. Not Earth. Arena. A service balcony above Applause Junction had buckled when the public feeds overloaded. Three people clung to a broken rail while the crowd below kept shouting at screens instead of looking up.

Zunoder saw it too. He looked toward the left route, then the balcony reflection, then the woman watching him.

He cursed in Ty's voice and moved.

For one bright, terrible second, he was fast in exactly the way Ty used to be when soone needed help. He vaulted the broken stair, grabbed the rail with one hand, and pulled the first dangling man up. The woman gasped. The public crystal caught everything.

JJ whispered, "No."

Ty understood. Zunoder was not doing rcy wrong. That was the danger. He did enough of it right.

The office mark under the route flashed.

PUBLIC DOUBT QUALITY: IMPROVED

Ty lunged toward the right route.

Omina did not stop him this ti. "Go."

The passage folded around them. Ty hit the service balcony hard enough to crack tile under his feet. The rail scread. A girl in an arena vendor apron hung by both hands while the tal peeled away from the wall.

Zunoder had already pulled one person clear. He turned with Ty's face and saw the skeleton arrive.

"Late," Zunoder said.

Ty threw a sickle. It did not cut Zunoder. It cut the claim-thread wrapped around the collapsing rail. Blue fire snapped through tal, and the rail stopped falling long enough for Yun-Jin's pink strand to catch the vendor girl around the waist.

Yun-Jin scread through her teeth. The strand pulled against her cracked ribs. JJ grabbed her from behind and braced both feet.

"I have you."

"I hate that," Yun-Jin said.

"Later."

Ty grabbed the last dangling man by the collar and hauled him up. His missing finger burned against his hand. The bone wanted Zunoder. The balcony wanted victims. He chose the balcony.

Zunoder saw the choice and smiled with open contempt.

"Still spending yourself on strangers."

"Yes."

"That is why your body was easy to take."

Ty swung the second sickle. Zunoder moved backward through a blind crystal before the blade reached him. The woman from the stairs followed, eyes fixed on the space where he had vanished.

She looked back once at Ty.

The look on her face was not clean enough to call fear or belief. It was the dangerous middle place where maybe lived.

Then she stepped after Zunoder.

The passage snapped shut.

The rescued vendor girl sobbed against Yun-Jin's shoulder. The public crystals replayed Zunoder saving the first man, then Ty saving the last two. The crowd finally noticed the balcony. Sound changed. Less cheering. More confusion.

Omina arrived last, one hand pressed to the wall until the route stabilized under her.

"We lost him," JJ said.

Ty looked at the blind crystal where Zunoder had gone. The missing finger tapped against his palm.

"No. We found his road."

The crystal flickered once.

At the far end of its black reflection, a red door knocked from the other side.

Nobody moved for one breath.

The rescued vendor girl still had both hands twisted in Yun-Jin's sleeve. Yun-Jin did not pull away. JJ noticed and said nothing, which was probably the kindest thing she had managed all day. The crowd below had begun to argue with itself. So pointed at the place where Zunoder had saved the first man. Others pointed at the rail Ty had held long enough for the last two to live.

That argunt mattered.

Zunoder wanted the public to choose a face before they understood the cost. Ty had forced them to compare choices instead. Friction was not victory, but it slowed a lie.

Omina looked at the red door in the crystal. "We do not open that."

"He is going there," Ty said.

"Then he can arrive first and be punished by his own impatience."

The missing finger tapped twice, sharper than before. Ty knew what it ant without knowing how.

"It is not only his road."

The red door knocked again in the reflection, patient enough to be frightening.
