I get up after reassuring the girls that I’m okay and make my way over to the Lord laying on the ground. I check for any possible pulse that he could have since information would’ve been helpful.
No luck as he is definitely dead already. The damage inflicted was way too much for him to bare.
"So I take it we are back to searching?" Velia questions with disappointnt in her voice.
"There isn’t much of a choice otherwise," I answer with a calm tone.
Finding this king is the only way to handle the darkness within this realm so we can continue moving forward. I have a feeling that I’m going to be in here for quite a long ti.
Nothing is ever easy so it only makes sense for how much ti I’ll be wasting. Eventually we’ll find out the location of the king.
"We’ll just have to head out of here and see what we can find outside," Eliza speaks up with so positivity in her voice.
"Yeah. I’m sure we’ll find sothing," I respond with a bit of hope in my voice.
We get our bearings and begin to find our way back out of here since we’ve got a lot to get done. The girls all seem to be keeping positive about this, even though we gained nothing.
The path forward is only going to get worse as we continue so I’ll take this for the ti being.
I lead the way out of the hallway and eventually after so ti we make it back to the festival where everyone is. People don’t seem to be curious in the slightest about us coming out of there.
Tap. Tap.
Slight tapping on my shoulder takes my attention for a second as I turn to see who it is. To my surprise it is just Lust making her appearance once more.
"What could you possibly want after giving such a dead lead," I say with a bit of irritation.
"I’m going to help you this ti, just have so trust in . I really thought you could get sothing from him," Lust replies with a small chuckle afterwards.
I am starting to think she really is just wasting my ti so that we continue to fall behind the monarchs. The chaos monarch is probably manipulating the situation here to get what he wants.
She doesn’t have intentions of helping in the slightest... Just I don’t know if I have the strength to fight against a monarch yet.
I feel my fist clench as I start to feel the anger forming within .
"By giving another dead lead?!?!" I shout with anger in my voice.
"Let’s all just go sowhere out of the publics view," Lust suggests.
"Is that really a good idea?" Aria asks with concern in her voice.
"We’ll be fine Aria, don’t worry. It’ll work out just fine," I assure her.
We all follow lust through the crowd, eventually reaching another building for us to discuss things in. Nobody really seems to be around this ti either; it is like an old tavern without any of the custors to keep it in business.
I can’t see a single person here besides us so maybe we do have sowhere private to discuss everything now.
Everyone takes a seat as she locks up the door behind us.
"You’re looking for the king and that’s fine. I don’t care about what you intend to do or not do, I’ll give you the best lead I can give," Lust says with a smirk on her face.
"What’s the lead?" I question while trying to keep a calm tone.
"There’s a small castle a bit away from here that is said to be a decoy but it isn’t. They’ve been playing coy for quite so ti so that no one bothers wasting their ti," Lust answers with a serious tone.
"I know exactly what place she’s talking about," Eliza chis in.
"Seems we know where to go at the very least," I respond while staring back at lust.
"It’ll be a lot more dangerous than the Lord you faced, they will probably have quite the power against you," She warns.
That Lord really did do a number on but we have soone capable of healing our wounds. I think with our current group we should be able to handle whatever cos our way if we play it smart.
I also need to start using more than just my raw power against the enemy since it won’t always be enough. There’s a lot I’ve learned, especially from Alarion.
Maybe it is about ti I put so of that to use against the enemies at this castle we are heading to.
"What kind of defense are we talking?" Velia asks with a serious tone.
"10 A rank guards that probably guard the king who is also capable of fighting with so strong power himself," Lust answers with a calm tone.
"We should definitely be able to handle this," Aria says with confidence.
Aria isn’t wrong since we are all pretty high ranking at this point. Aria also has so skills that I don’t know about so it’ll be quite an interesting ti.
Her nullification technique will also be quite powerful against any enemy we face if she does use it.
I still can’t believe their family has such a powerful thing at their disposal. A war against them could end badly if you get hit by the nullification.
Would it work if I ever reach the full potential of my dragon powers?
"At that point you’d be a full dragon so I don’t know if it would work," Rika speaks up.
Full dragon would probably be hard to counter with that power since I’m no longer human. It stopped back in Elyndra though so that’s why I’m not entirely sure about it.
I don’t intend to make enemies of them anyway. The Variseth family has done good by so far and I don’t have any reason to fight against them.
Alarion even let his sister join which I didn’t expect with the way they are.
"You do have quite a bit of girls by your side nowadays," Rika says with a bit of jealousy in her voice.
Sounds like you are a bit jealous of them.
"I’m jealous that I’m not able to be there in person yet," Rika replies.
I’m sure you’ll be here soon enough, when the ti is right at least. It’s not like I’m really going anywhere.
I’ll be traveling through these realms for who knows how long until I get to the sovereign in the last realm. Along that path is also going to be a lot of bloodshed that I can’t help.
Eventually it is probably going to get even worse with the pressure of the monarchs tightening.
"You okay Rokuro?" Rika asks with concern.
I’m just starting to understand the clear picture of things. I think I’ll give the girls a good ti soon since I have been thinking for so ti now.
I’d like to get closer with them before there’s no opportunity to do so.
It just takes finding the right mont now since we are traveling through so of the worst places. After the king is dealt with that might be the best opportunity I get.
"Rokuro are you listening?" Lust asks while standing right in front of .
"No. I was thinking about so stuff," I answer bluntly.
"I told you about how many guards are at the castle and what to expect," Lust says while looking closely at .
"Thanks for the help. I’m sure we’ll do fine now," I reply coldly before standing up.
"Are we leaving?" Aria asks.
"Yes. Let’s go," I answer without wasting any ti.
We leave the building behind before Lust can even try to say anything else. It is ti for us to find this scumbag of a king before he realizes what’s up.
It takes us a little while though...
Mostly to get away from the festival itself since it is very crowded but eventually we do make it out. The path towards the castle she told us about is a long one but it gives so ti to prepare.
"He felt a bit different there didn’t he," Aria says quietly.
"Rokuro has been through a lot," Velia replies while keeping her voice down.
"Do you think he’ll be cold like that towards us too?" She asks quietly.
"Rokuro cares about all of us a lot so I don’t think that’s sothing we need to worry about," Velia assures her.
I don’t think they understand that I can hear them whispering but I don’t really care. Velia is right about how much I do care about them or else I wouldn’t give it my all.
They’ve all given more of a purpose in life since they joined on the journey. It’ll be interesting to see where it all ends.
