Though Lian Mengzhu’s change made her uneasy, Ye Wanwan’s top concern was still her own health. Even though she knew she should show weakness to gain Lian Mengzhu’s sympathy, she couldn’t help but urge.
After hearing Ye Wanwan’s words, Lian Mengzhu looked conflicted. She sighed and sat down on the chair by the bed. “Your father knows what to do about this. You don’t need to worry too much.”
Ye Wanwan wanted to say more, but seeing Lian Mengzhu’s troubled expression, she dared not press further, fearing she’d provoke resentment.
After a while, she cautiously asked, “Mother, is something happening outside? It feels chaotic today.”
This wasn’t just a feeling; it was real.
She had wanted to go out, but her body wouldn’t allow it. She couldn’t even get out of bed, let alone go outside.
Lian Mengzhu paused, then shook her head. “Nothing. You don’t need to worry. You just need to rest.”
