"There has to be sowhere specific we can go," lody said. "The Le Fay family governs this city. They’ll have a headquarters or an administrative building sowhere. Since we’re here for official business, we simply have to go to their official location or sothing."
"And what if the guards turn us away at the door?" Akira chuckled. "We don’t exactly have an appointnt."
"We have a contract," Lukas said. "That’s better than an appointnt."
"Aw, man." She grinned. "I was hoping for soone to stop us, then I’ll do sothing cool, then they’ll allow us in just because of how cool I was."
Lukas chuckled at that, before turning serious. As funny as Akira’s face slapping fantasies were, they had to solve the problem at hand.
"The more imdiate problem," he said, "is figuring out where to go in the first place."
He looked around for one of the workers, catching the attention of a young man clearing a nearby table. He raised his hand.
The worker ca over.
"Could you clear ours as well?" Lukas asked. "We’re done eating."
"Of course."
As the worker gathered the plates and cups, the door to the breakfast place opened.
Lukas glanced at it to see a couple, dressed for the morning, heading to the counter to order. He watched them for a mont, then looked back at the table.
The worker finished, gave a brief nod, and moved on.
Lukas reached into his spatial ring and retrieved the sector three map, unfolding it across the now clear table.
There were a lot of details on the map, all labeled in small text with the important locations highlighted.
lody leaned in from one side, Akira from the other.
"The Le Fay family governs the city," Lukas said, running his finger along the map’s legend. "Which ans they have an official presence sowhere in the sector."
"So we need to find either a governnt building or an administrative center. Sothing that functions as their seat of power at the city level."
"There," lody said, pointing.
Lukas followed her finger to a highlighted area near the top edge of the sector, closer to the center of the city.
He frowned, pulling the map closer.
The label read: Administrative Hall — Sector 3 Governance. City Lord’s Sector Three Office.
"Wait a minute." He looked up. "Is our contract with the City Lord’s office?"
lody shook her head. "No. We signed the contract directly with the Le Fay family. So, our matters don’t involve the city of Salaria itself."
"So since we’re not exactly governnt contractors, then this might not be the right place." Lukas mused
They went back through the map carefully, working through every highlighted landmark in sector three.
They found governnt buildings, transit hubs, comrcial centers, and two more Adept spatial gate facilities.
But even with all their searching, they found nothing with the Le Fay na attached to it. It was as if the Le Fays didn’t exist on paper in Salaria.
"Have we been scamd in so way?" Akira asked with a frown.
"How would they possibly have scamd us?" lody asked. "They didn’t even take anything from us. Do we even have anything worth taking? Maybe we’re missing sothing."
Lukas looked up and caught the sa worker passing nearby.
"Excuse ," he said. "One more question."
The young man stopped.
"We’re looking for the Le Fay family’s office. Not the city administration, the family itself. Is there sothing like that in this sector?"
The worker looked up, thinking about it. "The Le Fay family doesn’t operate out of offices, exactly."
He tilted his head slightly. "They have residences. Mansions spread across different sectors of the city. Each one serves a different branch of the family or a specific individual."
"There’s the Sunflower hall, the Wisteria hall, and the Foxglove hall in sector three." He paused. "Who are you looking for?"
’Oh.’ Lukas made a sound of realization. The Le Fays don’t put their nas on their mansions. No wonder they had a hard ti finding it.
"We’re looking to et Morgana Le Fay," Lukas said. "Is she in sector three?"
The worker’s eyebrows rose slightly, coughing in surprise. Of all the nas he’d been expecting, it wasn’t the princess of the Le Fay family.
"Errr... Lady Morgana’s residence is at the main Le Fay family mansion," he said. "That’s the Lotus hall."
"You’ll have to head over to sector seven. It’s not the closest journey, but the hall isn’t at the far edge of the city. It’s near the center, so the travel ti is manageable." He thought for a mont. "A few hours by tram, with one transfer."
He described the route, telling them which stop to board at, where to switch lines, and which stop to alight at.
Lukas listened carefully, committing it to mory while lody traced the rough direction on the map with her finger. The final part of the journey existed outside the map, but at least, they knew where to go.
"Thank you," Lukas smiled at the man, passing him a tip.
The worker gave a small nod and returned to his work.
Lukas folded the map, tucked it away, and looked at his wives.
"So, sector seven. That’s where we’re starting from."
"Sector seven indeed." Akira grinned. "I hope the guards turn us away. Then I do sothing cool. Then they try to attack. And Morgana appears out of nowhere, saying "Stop!" And they all stop and bow. Then we enter like heroes."
lody was shaking her head, a smile on her face. "Just from the way you described it, I’m already sure it won’t happen."
"But the chance of it not happening is not zero." Akira replied.
"Alright." Lukas stood. "We have sowhere to be."
lody stood, folding the map up. Akira sat there for a mont before standing, stretching and yawning loudly.
And with that, they left the breakfast place, stepping back out into the morning streets of Salaria.
It was ti to fulfill their contracts.
