The beachside barbecue party continued amid laughter and the sizzling sound of charcoal.
Luke himself found it sowhat unbelievable. He, who was used to solitude and even had so social anxiety, was actually chatting so relaxedly and congenially with several foreign girls he had only t for less than half a day.
Perhaps it was the temporary sense of freedom in a foreign land, perhaps it was the confidence brought by his perfect body, or perhaps it was the enthusiasm and straightforwardness of these Arican girls that had a unique infectious power.
Money makes the timid bold?!
Of course, their table also attracted countless passing male gazes.
Four Arican sweethearts with different styles but equally eye-catching, surrounding an seemingly ordinary Asian young man — this scene was enough to make many white and black guys look over with mixed envy, jealousy, and confusion.
A few bold ones even ca over with beers trying to strike up a conversation and join them, but were politely yet firmly rejected by Alexandra in just a few words.
She keenly noticed Luke's slightly furrowed brows and the flash of impatience in his eyes.
Jennifer and Elizabeth, on the other hand, showed so regret toward those rejected, decent-looking "potential prey."
"Hey, you two!" Alexandra reminded them in a low voice, with a teasing tone, "Don't forget, you two already have boyfriends! Parker and Tony are arriving tomorrow. Can't you hold it for one more night?"
"We know, we know, just looking. But seriously, Luke looks really young. He doesn't look like he's almost twenty-six at all," Jennifer pouted.
"You can't judge an Eastern person's age by appearance."
"Yeah," Elizabeth agreed, her gaze lingering on Luke's face. "Eastern people's 'blooming period' is way too long, right? Their skin is so good, you can barely see any wrinkles. Is that why you guys don't know how to seize the mont?"
She blinked, with a mischievous smile.
Although Luke's emotional intelligence was average, his "proficient English" allowed him to understand these bold teases without any barrier and express his own thoughts relatively accurately.
He tried to explain so cultural differences, talked about Dragon Kingdom's customs, and shared his views on various things.
Although the cultural backgrounds of the two countries were vastly different, the girls found his speech organized, his attitude gentle, and possessing a kind of "refined and elegant" Eastern charm — very interesting.
Especially Mia.
She barely participated in the "appreciation" of Luke's body. Most of the ti she sat quietly beside him. Behind her thick glasses, those sapphire-blue eyes almost never left his face.
She was full of curiosity and longing for that ancient Eastern country Luke spoke of, asking about various details in a soft voice.
Ti flew by in conversation. Before they knew it, it was past nine in the evening.
The sea breeze grew cooler, and the party was coming to an end.
The group packed up and prepared to return to the motel.
When Luke followed them to the motel entrance and looked up to confirm the sign, even he was stunned: it was actually the sa motel!
Mia covered her mouth, her blue eyes widening in pleasant surprise as she whispered, "Oh My God! Luke, this… this is really fate!"
Luke smiled without saying much, but he felt this coincidence was a bit too… dramatic.
He said good night to the girls and returned to his own room.
Back in the slightly simple but reasonably clean room, the first thing Luke did was take a hot shower to wash off the barbecue smoke and the slight saltiness from the sea breeze.
The warm water relaxed his nerves that had been tense all day.
After drying off and wrapping himself in a bath towel, he walked to the window and looked at the sparse lights in the parking lot and the flowing traffic on the distant highway, thinking it was ti to "return" to Westeros to check on the situation there.
Although he was in Arica, he returned to Westeros every day.
The two worlds had "inverted day and night," and with his abundant energy, going back and forth ant he had "dayti" for 24 hours…
However, just as he concentrated his mind and was about to activate his traversal ability—
"Knock knock knock."
A knock sounded on the door — neither light nor heavy, carrying a trace of hesitation.
Luke frowned. Who could it be at this hour?
Police?
Motel staff?
Or…?
He walked to the door and looked through the peephole, slightly stunned. Standing outside was Mia.
She had already changed out of her swimsuit and beach dress, wearing a slightly oversized white bathrobe. Her golden hair was still a bit damp over her shoulders, her face flushed red. She kept her head lowered, fingers unconsciously twisting the belt of her robe.
Luke hesitated for a mont, then opened the door, leaving only a small gap and poking his head out while wrapping the bath towel tighter around himself. "Mia? It's so late. Is sothing wrong?"
Hearing the door open, Mia suddenly looked up. Caught off guard, she saw Luke's upper body still carrying water vapor, only wrapped in a bath towel.
That firm, broad chest, sharply defined abs, and water droplets sliding down from his hair… The visual impact left her brain blank for a mont. Her cheeks instantly turned red all the way to her ears.
She hurriedly looked away, but couldn't help stealing glances. Her throat unconsciously rolled as she swallowed.
"I… I…" she stamred, her voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz. "My room… is too noisy. Alexandra and the others… those three lesbians are playing so 'Fight the Landlord,' and it's really loud…"
She seed unable to find a better excuse. Her gaze wandered, not daring to et Luke's eyes.
Fight the Landlord?
Luke almost couldn't hold back his laughter.
These three foreign girls really knew how to have fun.
But he imdiately understood Mia's subtext. His heart skipped a beat: This girl… couldn't really be interested in him, right? They had only known each other for a few hours? Are Arican girls all this… direct?
"Um… isn't this inappropriate?" Luke said tactfully, keeping his body slightly blocking the door gap. "It's so late. A man and woman alone in a room together — it wouldn't be good for your reputation if word got out."
"I… I don't mind!" Mia blurted out. Realizing how direct that sounded, her face grew even redder, and she lowered her head further.
"But I do, sister!"
"I'm afraid of catching sothing."
Luke spread his hands helplessly, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness and amusent.
"Pfft…" Mia was amused by his reaction. So of her nervousness dissipated.
She looked up, curiously and boldly staring at Luke: "Do all Dragon Kingdom boys… act this shy and… principled?"
She lifted the laptop she had been hugging and continued, "I just… wanted to find a quiet place to watch a movie for a while. I'll go back after I'm done, okay? I promise I won't disturb you."
Luke looked at her pitiful yet slightly cunning expression, then at the laptop in her hands, and sighed.
He couldn't just shut her out.
"Alright, co in and sit for a while. But I need to put on so clothes first." Luke said, quickly closing the door before Mia could respond.
Outside, Mia was stunned for a second, then covered her burning face, lightly stomped her foot, and sighed softly — both disappointed and with a trace of unclear expectation.
Not long after, the door opened again.
Luke had changed into a simple plain white cotton T-shirt and dark sports shorts. His damp hair had been casually towel-dried, reducing the previous sexy impact and adding a refreshing youthful feel.
He stepped aside to let Mia in.
The room was small, with only one double bed, a small coffee table, two chairs, and an old-fashioned TV cabinet.
Luke pointed to the only single sofa beside the bed: "Sit here. What movie do you want to watch?"
Mia sat on the sofa with her laptop, legs together. The hem of her bathrobe spread open, revealing a section of fair, slender calves.
She opened the computer. The screen light reflected on her delicate face.
"What genre do you like? I'm fine with anything."
"You choose. I don't watch many movies."
Luke told the truth. He moved a chair and sat beside the sofa, maintaining a polite distance.
Mia bit her lip, her fingers sliding on the trackpad, and finally clicked on a movie — The Notebook.
Luke's eyebrows rose slightly.
This movie… he seed to have seen clips and explanations of it on Douyin?
A typical romance film.
He suddenly felt a bit awkward.
This was the first ti in his life watching a movie with a girl in a hotel room — and it was this kind of genre… wasn't the atmosphere a bit too ambiguous?
The movie started playing. The lodious soundtrack and nostalgic scenes flowed through the small room.
Mia appeared to be focused on the screen, but her body unconsciously inched closer to Luke little by little.
Her knee, through the thin bathrobe fabric, brushed against Luke's knee.
Luke imdiately felt it. His body stiffened slightly.
He subconsciously looked down and saw that Mia's bathrobe hem had opened even more due to her sitting posture. A pair of straight, long, beautiful legs were almost completely exposed to the air, shining dazzlingly white under the computer screen's glow.
"Cough—"
Luke coughed lightly. He reached out and carefully adjusted her bathrobe hem to cover the tempting view, trying to sound natural: "Be careful not to catch a cold, and… try not to expose yourself."
Mia's cheeks burned even hotter from his action, as if they could fry an egg. She softly humd in acknowledgnt but didn't pull her legs back. Instead, she adjusted her sitting posture and pressed even closer. Her upper body even leaned slightly toward him, carrying the fresh scent after bathing.
Luke felt a bit restless from the soft touch and alluring fragrance, but he forced himself to restrain it. His body instinctively leaned back, trying to create distance.
But he was sitting on a chair with a wall behind him. He soon had nowhere to retreat and was "pressed" into the corner by Mia.
"Mia…" Luke helplessly called her na, his voice sowhat dry. "Don't do this…"
Mia's movents stopped.
She looked up. Those sapphire-blue eyes, which looked exceptionally bright in the dim light, instantly beca watery.
She bit her lower lip. Her voice carried thick grievance and self-mockery: "Why… why am I always so unlucky? Even when… even when I throw myself at soone, no one wants ?"
Before she finished speaking, crystal tears rolled down her cheeks.
Luke imdiately panicked. He was most afraid of girls crying.
"No, Mia, don't misunderstand. I didn't an it that way…"
He clumsily tried to explain but didn't know where to start.
At that mont, Mia suddenly leaned in. Her soft, slightly cool lips, still carrying the saltiness of tears, pressed against Luke's without warning!
Luke's mind buzzed. His body instantly tensed.
The sensation was unfamiliar yet soft, carrying the salty taste of tears and the girl's unique fragrance.
He subconsciously wanted to push her away, but his arm froze in mid-air.
Feeling Luke's stiffness and resistance, Mia's tears flowed even harder. The kiss beca clumsy and desperate, like a lost little animal seeking comfort.
Luke's heart softened. The hand that was about to push her away ultimately turned into a gentle embrace.
He wrapped his arms around her slightly trembling shoulders and responded awkwardly, then slowly ended the tearful kiss.
Mia buried herself in his arms, sobbing softly. Her warm tears soaked the front of his T-shirt.
She spoke intermittently: "What they said… is all true… I was born unlucky… Before I was even born, my dad died in a car accident… From childhood, no girl wanted to truly be my friend… Boys… boys who got close to would have bad luck… At the graduation prom… the boy who invited is still lying in the hospital… I really… I really am such a failure…"
Luke listened quietly, his arms gently around her, his palm clumsily patting her back like comforting a frightened child.
He could feel the girl's fragility and helplessness in his arms — that sense of loneliness as if abandoned by the world seed to touch so mories he himself once had.
After who knows how long, the sobbing in his arms gradually weakened into even, long breathing.
Mia had actually… fallen asleep.
Luke himself was also drowsy and nearly fell asleep with her.
He suddenly jolted awake, shook his head, and checked his phone: it was past midnight!
The "elf-like girl" in his arms was sleeping soundly. Her long eyelashes still had undried tears, and her delicate face was flushed from crying and sleep, looking especially lovable.
Luke tried gently pushing her and patting her cheek: "Mia? Mia? Wake up. It's ti to go back to your room."
Mia only humd vaguely and buried her head deeper into his chest, showing no sign of waking up.
Luke felt helpless. He couldn't let her sleep here all night.
He sighed, carefully adjusted his posture, slipped one hand under her knees and the other around her shoulders, and gently lifted her in a princess carry.
The girl was lighter than she looked, and with his 11 Strength, she felt almost weightless.
Carrying the sleeping Mia, Luke walked out of his room and went to Room 302 across the corridor.
He listened at the door. Inside, he could vaguely hear so… unusual sounds and suppressed laughter?
He couldn't worry about that now. He lightly kicked the door with his foot.
"Knock knock knock."
The sounds inside abruptly stopped.
A few seconds later, the door was yanked open a crack.
Alexandra poked her head out, wearing only a loosely draped bathrobe, her hair ssy, her face still flushed with lingering color… and a trace of displeasure at being disturbed.
However, when she saw Luke standing outside holding Mia, her expression instantly froze, turning into extre shock. Her mouth opened into an O shape:
"Oh My God! Luke?!"
Her exclamation startled the other two in the room.
Jennifer and Elizabeth, also wrapped in sheets or bath towels, curiously poked their heads over.
When they saw the soundly sleeping Mia in Luke's arms and his awkward, helpless expression, all three pairs of beautiful eyes widened at the sa ti, revealing looks of disbelief as if they had seen a ghost.
Luke's gaze subconsciously glanced at Alexandra's bathrobe collar, which wasn't properly tied due to haste. That patch of snow-white skin and deep cleavage made him quickly look away.
His gaze then shifted and happened to catch a glimpse inside the room… Jennifer and Elizabeth seed… not wearing much?
The bed was a ss, and the air seed to carry a certain ambiguous scent.
Elizabeth's whole body was flushed red, her eyes seductive, still in the afterglow!
He felt even more embarrassed. Not knowing where to look, he quickly used his chin to point at Mia in his arms and awkwardly explained:
"She… fell asleep while watching the movie. I thought… it was ti to bring her back to her room to sleep."
With that, he almost fled as he carried Mia into the room, gently placed her on the only relatively neat bed, and carefully tucked her in with the thin blanket.
Throughout the process, he didn't dare look back at the three stunned girls.
"Well… good night. Sorry for the disturbance."
Luke left those words and quickly walked out of Room 302, gently closing the door behind him as if there were flood beasts chasing him.
"Bang."
The sound of the door closing finally snapped the three girls out of their daze.
Alexandra slowly closed the door, turned around, and looked at the equally stunned Jennifer and Elizabeth.
They stayed silent for a full ten seconds.
"Damn!"
Jennifer was the first to curse. She tugged at the sheet around her body, her expression like she had seen an alien. "He… he just brought Mia back like that? Without doing anything?"
Elizabeth also looked like her worldview had been shaken: "He… he couldn't be gay, right? Mia was like that…"
"No, he's not."
Jennifer's eyes were sharp. Recalling so subtle reactions and body language from when Luke entered, she said with certainty: "I noticed — he had a reaction. He just… held it back."
"God, he brushed against ! I felt electrocuted…"
Alexandra quickly walked to the bed and carefully checked her sleeping sister.
Her clothes were intact, no suspicious marks or scents on her body, and she was sleeping quite sweetly.
Her expression beca even more colorful — a mix of disbelief, admiration, and a trace of frustration: "Shit… are all Dragon Kingdom n's… self-control this terrifying? The reincarnation of Liu Xiahui?"
The "mood" that had dissipated earlier because of Luke's interruption was now replaced by an even more absurd and curious emotion.
The three quickly gathered around the bed and vigorously shook and patted Mia's cheeks.
"Mia! Wake up! Wake up quickly!"
"What happened? What exactly did you two do?"
"Tell us! How did he bring you back?"
Mia was roughly woken up. She rubbed her eyes drowsily and looked at the three faces full of question marks in front of her, completely confused: "What's wrong? I… I was watching a movie in Luke's room… then… I think I fell asleep?"
"Then what?!" the three asked in unison.
"Then… I think I cried… then… I fell asleep in his arms… it was very warm and comfortable…" Mia tried to recall, speaking intermittently. "After that… I don't rember…"
After listening, the three girls collectively collapsed, powerlessly sitting on the edge of the bed or the floor, looking at the still-confused Mia with the sa expression one would give a lost cause.
"You just… fell asleep like that?!" Alexandra facepald.
"God, Mia, you really are… hopeless!" Jennifer rolled her eyes.
"You were given the chance and didn't take it…" Elizabeth sighed.
Only then did Mia fully wake up and realize what she had missed. Her little face imdiately fell. She curled into the blanket, feeling wronged: "I… I don't know how I fell asleep… His arms were really comfortable and gave a strong sense of security…"
The sighs and complaints in Room 302 were naturally unheard by Luke outside the door.
He returned to his room, locked the door, leaned against the cold door panel, and let out a long sigh of relief.
The "sensual" yet "thrilling" experience just now left his heart still racing.
Mia's enthusiasm and tears, the "chaotic" scene in the three girls' room…
All of it reminded him that this was Arica — a place completely different from the culture and environnt he was familiar with.
"What a… stimulating night."
Luke shook his head, walked to the window, and looked at the still-flickering lights outside. His eyes regained their calm and determination.
The brief interlude was over. As for tonight's unexpected "peach blossom tribulation"… he would treat it as an amusing, exotic little episode in this Arican trip mainly aid at making money and acquiring guns.
He stopped thinking about it and turned toward the bed.
It was ti to "return" to Westeros, check on the situation there, and calm himself down as well.
The familiar feeling of weightlessness arrived as scheduled. The scene of the motel in front of him was replaced by the familiar sight of the study in his estate on Rhaenys's Hill.
