Sylas didn't say anything in response. The answer to that question was obviously no, and Fanelei definitely knew that. He didn't really see the purpose of the question.
Honestly, he had gotten really used to Gralith, who was quite similar to himself. Because of that, there weren't monts like this between them at all. In fact, the only ti there had been the smallest bit of contention had been when Gralith lost his temper, but by this point, Sylas understood where those emotions had been coming from.
What he didn't understand, though, was what Fanelei was trying to do here. If she had sothing to say, then she should certainly just say it.
Fanelei shook her head.
"I don't know what's wrong with your Spark Seed, but it's not going to be long before they realize that it isn't normal. I used the system to destroy the Rune network, but they are smart, and they will be able to reverse engineer at least so of what happened. At that point, I'm sure you can guess so of the trouble, even if it isn't all of it."
Sylas could. He imagined that he would be exposed as a person from a Summoned World-if he hadn't been already, that is. But also, they would know his Spark Seed was very strong?
But this still didn't explain things. He didn't know what Fanelei was trying to get at.
It seed that all of these things were still within a manageable range.
No matter how Sylas thought about it, the entire reason for Fanelei's panic was related to how it affected her. She didn't want others to know that she had a pawn like himself, or an advantage in him, so she wanted to keep it a secret.
People this powerful didn't do things out of the kindness of their hearts, and one shouldn't mistake the fact Sylas had chosen to take a chance on her as aning that he trusted her.
As far as he was concerned, he was very much still in enemy territory, and none of this was going to change that.
That said, he had apologized to her not long ago for two reasons.
First, there was still a small chance that he was wrong. He could feel what he would call sincerity coming from her Will. But the problem was that with such a large gap between the strengths of their Wills, Sylas had no way of confirming or denying whether he was correct.
He trusted in his own assessnts, but he wasn't arrogant to the point of being blind. What F-tier could ever perfectly read an A-tier?
The second reason he apologized was because it was the smartest thing to do. Even if he was wrong, it was better to appease this powerhouse.
It could be said that his pressing Fanelei and threatening to, well, threaten her was a probe that ca back with a small bit of information, but not enough. Since he was too weak to press further, it was smarter of him to pull back.
But now... Fanelei was still being so dodgy and vague. It made Sylas wonder if he was correct in his initial assessnt and if his Will had been fooled by what was ultimately a Will just far more powerful than his own.
He honestly couldn't tell.
And that uncertainty was nothing short of troubling.
All he wanted was a chance to kill a Cryst Emperor in a short enough ti span that he could return to Earth before their Summoning was truly complete. But now he felt like he was entangled in quite a bit of trouble.
'In that case...'
Sylas' body seed to relax. He had already known that he would never be able to trust Fanelei with 100% certainty. If playing a ga was going to have to be what he did, then playing a ga he would.
Fanelei, who had been seemingly lost in thought for a mont, looked over at Sylas with a raised brow. She looked him up and down as though trying to see through sothing.
"You are quite peculiar."
"I would like information about the Cryst Emperor, please. I am on a ti crunch, as you probably know, and I'd like to kill them as quickly as I can."
"You know, if anyone else heard what you have to say, they'd stick you in a ntal ward. Do you think a Cryst Emperor just walks around without protection? The ones that do could kill you with a fart. And the ones that do have protection have guards that could do the sa. Just because you're in the sa general area as one doesn't an that you'll be able to kill them."
"I'm aware," Sylas said.
"And even if by so miracle you did manage to find one that was there on their own, what do you think you'd be able to do? Do you understand how big the gap between your Sector and theirs is? An F-tier of the Seeing Eye Guild could kill most C-tiers you've ever t with a snap of their fingers. What do you think an E-tier could do? Are you racing yourself off to your death?"
"These are things I will handle myself," Sylas said.
His aning was clear. He had only needed help to get here in ti; he hadn't co here asking for her help.
Fanelei's eyes narrowed. "Then one more thing. Do you know what it costs to take on a Legacy Disciple? What do you think I should think if soone I've invested so much in goes off and gets themselves killed before I can even benefit? Why should I let you go anywhere?"
"Because I'm sure if you were soone who liked to avoid risks, you wouldn't be making soone from a Summoned World your Legacy Disciple in the first place."
"There's a difference between smart risks and stupid risks. I'm not going to let you go off and get yourself killed. You have two options. Either I send you back to the Sanctum, or you listen to and train properly. Whatever has your pants on fire isn't going to disappear anyti soon."
