Genetic Ascension Chapter 2275: Usually

Sylas waved a hand and his mother vanished.

Then he turned around, with the same slow, unbothered steps, he crossed the threshold until he stood before a man who once stood as tall as he had.

His father was 6'3", easily. But Sylas had shot up far beyond that, the changes to his body, bloodline, and his various actions across the universe having fundamentally changed him.

Now, Sylas stood even taller than before, crossing the barrier to 6'10" and seemingly approaching as much as seven feet tall. It wasn't that he wanted to be that tall, but instead that with the potential of his body constantly being leached out, there was a certain point where the power couldn't be contained within himself anymore.

His father, though, seemed to be radiating a deathly sort of aura, so focused and primed he looked like he would kill at the slightest provocation.

There wasn't the slightest scent of fear on his Will, a deep resounding confidence ing from him.

Seeing this, Sylas honestly hesitated. That was twice now. First his mother, now his father.

He wondered if it was a mistake to coddle them. Maybe he should have let them fight their own battles. But their situation now was his fault.

If he had been better, if he hadn't slipped up, nobody would have been able to just take them like this. Sylas stood there in silence for a long while, but in the end, he reached a finger forward, and the same scene played out once again.

With a wave of his hand, his father vanished.

When he was finished, Sylas took a step and began to walk into the skies. He looked like he had no desire to explain anything and no interest in staying here. Whatever these people wanted to do, it had nothing to do with him now.

Sylas' steps suddenly stopped. Elder Bash appeared across from him, a smile on his face. He leaned forward a bit, his hands still clasped behind his back.

"Step out of the way, Elder Bash."

Surprisingly, it was Cheri who spoke, her gaze cold and sharp. There seemed to be a pletely different air to her when she wasn't walking around nearly naked. Even her hair was held back in a single streaming ponytail that followed in a snake-like pattern behind her as though it was just one strand instead of a bundle of countless thousands.

Elder Bash blinked out of curiosity and then looked toward Cheri.

"Oh? You want to stop me? How amusing." Elder Bash said with a laugh. "You know how brash I am, do you think I fear Legacy?"

Cheri's eyes narrowed.

She understood more about the inner workings of the guilds than Sylas did, so when she saw Elder Bash, she knew the purpose of his existence. He was sent as a probe.

Not only was he powerful, standing at the height of Legend, but he was known for always marching to the beat of his own drum regardless of the circumstances.

Logically, no one should have dared to say the words he had just now. That wasn't because of how powerful Legacy was in a general sense, but instead because someone as high up as Elder Bash should know just how tied their organizations were to Legacy.

He should be able to put two and two together quite well.

Unfortunately… the issue with plans that spanned across billions upon billions of years was that often people born in future generations had other ideas for how things should go.

Ryn and Stone had probably not returned because their elders couldn't decide amongst them what to do. So, they decided to wait and observe.

Since Elder Bash was already given the green light to host this year, it was even more convenient for them.

"You know, I've heard great things about you. Cheri, is it?" Elder Bash's smile became a hint lewd. "But you're so hard to get, walking around everywhere with your breasts swaying in those robes and your thighs shining the sun, and yet not sharing at all.

"I ignored it because as your elder, I should let things like this go. How you tease the younger generation has nothing to do with me. But to think that you'd be such a diamond hidden in all the muck. I've never tasted a woman of Legacy before."

He licked his lips.

Cheri's expression became serious.

She was very cautious with how she did things because this was the exact sort of attention she didn't want.

It was rare for elders to pounce on the younger generation, but that was mostly for two reasons.

The first was that they were enemy guilds and most of them were straight. Meaning, Cheri was more in danger of a female elder targeting her than a man from the Stormfall Covenant. Targeting her as a member of the Stormfall Covenant would trigger an all-out war.

The second reason was because the purpose of their lust was power, and there was nothing an A-tier could gain from bedding a C-tier like her other than satisfaction.

And sinking into that satisfaction would only make them less likely to awaken the Lust Seed properly, and more likely to be devoured by it even if they did.

This was why the more powerful of them tended to be far more controlled.

But Cheri, for good reason, knew that since she had stepped out like this, she had definitely lost the protection of the Genesis Concord. Elder Bash could do whatever he wanted to her and they wouldn't stop it.

Also… Elder Bash was exactly the sort of person to not give a damn about future prospects. Why would he? Most of his future path had already been cut off by the Matriarch.

Cheri's mind was spinning, trying to figure out what she was going to do. The very last thing she expected was for someone to stand up for her, she had spent her whole life fighting for herself.

That was why she froze when Sylas spoke.

"Usually…" Sylas said slowly. "… The old are more protective of their lives."
