Sylas wasn't the patient sort. He certainly wasn't the sort to care very much about the life of someone he had only just met either.
But saying something like this in front of his face, when Cheri was clinging to his arm…
This man had a death wish.
So Sylas would oblige.
"It seems that as long as you lived, you've never honed that sense of fear for death. So I will help you finish digging your grave."
Sylas' Lust Seed bloomed. Violet and dark aura shuddered around him.
Elder Bash looked over toward Sylas and sneered.
"Who the fuck do you—?"
Chi.
Elder Bash's tongue was ripped out of his mouth the instant his body froze, a pain ripping through him. A small, bloody hole was left in the middle of his forehead.
Slowly, he fell from the air. As heavy as he fell, in the eyes of those spectating, it felt to them like they were watching the fall of an autumn leaf. The life that had been snuffed out was no less inconsequential, no less utterly irrelevant.
Cheri's eyes opened wide. Hadn't Sylas said he couldn't handle people this powerful? What just happened?
Her eyes found themselves landing on Sylas' side profile, and for a moment, he felt like the only existence in the entire world, the only being she could have the heart to even look at.
BANG.
Elder Bash's body collapsed to the ground below, and soon after, his severed tongue slapped onto his face and then rolled to the ground by his side.
The audience stood up in horror, their eyes wide with shock.
Sylas didn't say anything more, and he didn't have to. The stark pink and red of the tongue said all that needed to be said.
Elder Bash had survived smacking the ass of the Matriarch, and yet he couldn't survive saying the wrong words to Sylas' woman.
The contrast between the legends and tales versus reality couldn't have been more obvious.
Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi. Chi.
In the air, one powerful existence after another appeared. Amongst the crowd, Ryn and Stone were present, but they were shaken as well.
Elder Bash was stronger than they were by a decent margin, yet he had died instantly.
Stone couldn't help but remember how Sylas had challenged him to battle. If Ryn hadn't stopped it then, would he be dead as well?
But the scariest part of it all was that… none of them could tell just how it was that Sylas managed to do this. How had he attacked? Where did the attack e from…?
In the crowd of experts, two of them stood out.
One was a man, handsome beyond words, and a true silver fox in the truest of senses. His hair swayed between white and silver, a full beard covering what was undoubtedly a chiseled jaw. His eyes were a soft baby blue and his shoulders were broad.
He dressed in white robes, his stance tall and his demeanor confident.
The other… was a woman touched by the elegance of old age. The faint wrinkles around the corners of her eyes did little to detract from her beauty, an intoxicating sort of beauty.
She wore a red dress that clung to her curves, her slender, well manicured fingers holding up a long pipe that sent out wisps of a fragrant lavender scent in plumes of violet smoke.
These two were undoubtedly the Matriarch and Patriarch of the two guilds.
Unlike the Weaver and Seeing Eye Guilds, these two Guilds had just one figurehead at the top and a sea of ancestors behind them. Those ancestors hadn't appeared… yet. But they had brought more than enough elders with them.
And every single one of them was a Legend.
Each group must have had at least 50, and Sylas had a feeling that this wasn't the end of them at all. They most certainly had more.
The Demi-God Plane was simply on another level entirely pared to the Mortal Plane.
If such a group of A-tier Rune Masters came together and started to cast cooperation formations, maybe they could even provide some deterrence to a weakened S-tier.
And yet they had gathered for a boy who was only in the D-tier.
"It seems your favorite has died, Dominan." The Matriarch said with a hint of a smile on her lips.
The Patriarch didn't reply, his eyes still looking at Elder Bash's corpse. None of them expected that things would escalate so quickly that they wouldn't even be able to respond before a life was lost.
Slowly, Dominan looked up to meet Sylas' gaze. Rather than asking about Elder Bash, he asked about a separate matter entirely.
"The two Grimblades. Why is it that you have taken them?"
Sylas stared back at him, seemingly having no intention of replying.
A slight sneer curled Dominan's lips and he looked like he was going to take action, but it was the Matriarch who stepped forward.
"You men don't know how to have a conversation. You use your lapdog to attack him and now you expect him to just answer your questions just because?"
She walked forward with a smile until she stood in front of Sylas. She gave Cheri a small glance.
"You have a good eye for men, Cheri, dear. And here I thought you were just being stubborn. Shooting for the stars, are we?"
Cheri looked down to the ground, not replying. But the Matriarch didn't mind as she looked back to Sylas.
"Now, I must apologize on behalf of the Stormfall Covenant. They are brash and foolish. However, you must understand our situation as well, right? It is hard for us to allow an unknown in to just sweep up our disciples, right? It wouldn't be good for our face or our Karma. And it's especially impossible for us to allow such a deterrence against our abilities to go unanswered. I'm sure a handsome man like you most definitely understands.
"Isn't that right? Sylas Grimblade?"
She smiled a beautiful, alluring smile, revealing large swaths of her swaying, plush breasts as she leaned forward almost as though she wanted him to look.
