Chapter 345: The Unlucky Cicin Mage

"Lord Ausbilder!"

During this period of ti, Luke had been flattering Bai Luo to the extre.

After all... this was his only hope for a promotion.

What disappointed him sowhat was that the Ausbilder didn’t seem to care much for his flattery.

Aside from rembering his na, Bai Luo showed no particular appreciation.

"Mm."

After nodding to Luke, Bai Luo walked straight into the Goth Grand Hotel.

Ever since the Goth Grand Hotel had been fully booked by the Fatui, all of the logistical staff—except for the nominal owner—had been replaced with Fatui personnel.

So for the Fatui, this place was the safest location in Mondstadt.

After greeting the receptionist, Bai Luo planned to return to his room.

However, when he reached the corridor, he noticed a Fatui subordinate bent over on the floor, searching for sothing.

"Hm? Oh, thank goodness soone finally ca. Could I trouble you for a favor?"

Bai Luo’s arrival caught the attention of the female Fatui.

She squinted her eyes, seemingly trying to make out who had arrived.

But her eyesight appeared worse than Bai Luo had imagined. Even when she nearly pressed her face up to his, she still couldn’t tell who was standing before her.

"What is it?"

Bai Luo glanced at the mask hanging at her waist. Although she wore the standard Fatui uniform, that specially crafted mask... was sothing only a Cicin Mage was qualified to wear.

In other words, this seemingly ordinary Fatui soldier was actually a mber of the elite forces.

"Well... I accidentally dropped my glasses. Could you help find them?"

Scratching her head awkwardly, the Cicin Mage said.

For soone who was nearsighted, losing their glasses was extrely inconvenient.

Especially for soone as severely nearsighted as her. Without her glasses... she could barely tell whether soone was approaching, relying only on her hearing to detect this stranger’s presence.

"Is this it?"

Bai Luo picked up the glasses lying not far from her feet and handed them to her.

After fumbling around to take them, the Cicin Mage put them on and was just about to thank him when her expression froze.

"Lo—Lord Ausbilder!!"

In truth, the glasses didn’t restore much of her vision, but compared to before, she could at least recognize who stood before her.

And the Ausbilder was definitely one of the last people she wanted to run into.

Given her visual impairnt, she originally wouldn’t have qualified to beco a Cicin Mage.

But through sheer effort, she had been exceptionally admitted with outstanding results.

Yet the reality of the battlefield was far more brutal than she had imagined.

After mistakenly reporting false intelligence once due to her eyesight, she had been temporarily stationed at the Goth Grand Hotel.

If training a Cicin Mage hadn’t required such ti and effort, she might already have been punished.

Even so... as a Cicin Mage, her status was now lower than that of so ordinary Fatui.

The last ti she had been demoted was because she ran into The Fair Lady.

And now she had embarrassed herself in front of the Ausbilder...

"Go get a bowl of plain noodles. Extra vegetables, less oil."

Bai Luo did not make things difficult for her as she had imagined. After giving her a simple instruction, he returned to his room.

As far as he was concerned, unless soone betrayed Snezhnaya, he rarely went out of his way to make things hard for them.

As for why he wanted a bowl of plain noodles...

Last night, he had just finished a drinking contest with Mondstadt’s "Four Heavenly Kings." Even though the Reverse Blade Sword had purified his drunken state, the alcohol he drank had still physically gone into his body.

With his stomach full of liquor, he felt a bit uncomfortable and wanted sothing light to eat.

"O-Okay!"

Realizing that the Ausbilder hadn’t made things difficult for her, the Cicin Mage imdiately perked up.

An order from a Harbinger was, to her, a chance at regaining her promotion. She had to complete this difficult task strictly and seriously.

The Cicin Mage moved quickly. In just a little over ten minutes, she returned with a steaming bowl of plain noodles and knocked on the Ausbilder’s door.

"Lord Harbinger, your plain noodles."

"Mm. Thank you for your hard work."

After handing the noodles to Bai Luo, she didn’t linger.

She knew very well that Harbingers were different from ordinary superiors.

Excessive flattery might backfire.

So after giving a respectful salute, she tactfully left.

Bai Luo carried the bowl of plain noodles to his desk.

Casually pushing open the window beside it, he rolled up his sleeves and lifted the lid covering the noodles.

"???"

How should he put it...

Judging from the rich aroma, the Cicin Mage’s cooking skills were probably not bad. But the appearance was sowhat...

Let’s put it this way, this bowl of plain noodles looked as if it had been made from purple sweet potatoes. From the noodles to the broth, everything was purple. Even the vegetable leaves were purple.

It made Bai Luo seriously question whether this bowl was even edible.

"Hey, you!"

Bai Luo tried to call for the Cicin Mage, only to realize he hadn’t asked for her na.

Temporarily covering the bowl again, he left his room and headed toward the kitchen.

Since breakfast ti had already passed, the kitchen was mostly empty.

However, the sound of crying caught Bai Luo’s attention.

If he wasn’t mistaken... that sounded like the Cicin Mage who had just delivered his noodles.

Following the sound, Bai Luo arrived at the storage room.

When he opened the door, he saw the sa Cicin Mage squatting on the floor, crying.

"..."

Unbelievable. You made a bowl of culinary dark matter, and before I even said anything, you’re already crying?

"What’s wrong? Why are you crying here?" Bai Luo asked as he stepped forward.

"Waaah... They’re dead. They’re all dead."

Perhaps because of her crying, the thick lenses of her glasses had fogged up completely.

She raised her hand. In it was sothing like a small cage.

Inside were several tiny cicins.

A Cicin Mage’s cicins were either tad from the wild using Mist Grass Pollen, or raised from infancy in cages like this.

Wild ones were more aggressive, but less loyal.

Raised ones might be less aggressive, but they would follow their master through life and death.

So unless under special circumstances, most Cicin Mages would raise so cicins themselves.

But the cicins belonging to this Cicin Mage... seed to be in a rather tragic state.

Judging from their condition inside the cage, the cicins she had raised for several months were already on their last breath.

Clearly, they wouldn’t survive much longer.

Wait a second...

Why did the cage sll like pepper powder?

Don’t tell ...

"You used pepper powder instead of Mist Grass Pollen?!"

. . . . .
