Staring at the familiar figure standing before them, Miko felt worry for Kaito grip her without warning. There was every chance Kaito had been right here on this island — and yet the first thing they'd found was Mobius. That alone was enough to make her heart sink.

After giving Mobius a thorough once-over from head to toe, Lumine found herself thinking exactly that.
She knew she was probably letting her mind wander too far right now — but every single girl who had anything to do with Kaito turned out to be wildly extraordinary in one way or another.

Of course, she herself was hardly ordinary either, and she wasn't exactly hard on the eyes. But standing next to Acheron and Kiana... she couldn't help feeling like she ca up just a little short.
"Where is Kaito?" It was at that mont that Miko turned and levelled the question squarely at Mobius.

What had even happened to Kaito? Had he already been captured by her?
The mont Miko spoke, Lumine's thoughts snapped back and she felt the sa spike of worry. She'd let herself get distracted just now.
"How would I know." In response to Miko's challenge, Mobius simply spread her hands with an expression that said she genuinely had no idea.
Naturally, Miko wasn't about to just take her word for it. Mobius had deceived her right from the start — there was no way she'd trust her so easily now.
"Such a naughty little girl," Miko decided to take a jab at her.
She knew full well the other party probably wouldn't rise to it — might even turn it around and call her 'big sis' or sothing — but she wanted to take the shot anyway.
After all, she had zero chance of winning in a fight. So she had to win sowhere else. Besides, stalling for ti wasn't a bad idea either. Mr. Zhongli had been out looking for Kaito earlier — he might very well find his way here. The only question was whether Mr. Zhongli could actually handle this eternal pint-sized nace.
"Not at all — I'm a very good girl. It's Big Sis who never followed through on the promise she made ."
Just as Miko had predicted, Mobius called her 'Big Sis' without missing a beat, completely unfazed by the teasing. What did catch Miko off guard, though, was the part about a promise — she had absolutely no mory of promising Mobius anything.
A promise? What promise?
Had it been about finding Kaito?
No, wait — she didn't think Kaito had even co up during that conversation...
Then what was it?
Turning it over in her mind, Miko genuinely could not rember what she had ever promised Mobius.
Is she just ssing with ?
After going around and around on it, that was the conclusion she kept landing on.
Well — Mobius did seem like exactly the type of person who would pull sothing like that.
"Forgot already, have we? And I already told you I haven't thought of a reminder yet." Seeing Miko with that look on her face — clearly running through possibilities — Mobius gave a small smile and said it lightly.
"Then why don't you tell — what exactly did I promise you?" Miko decided to just ask outright.
She was stalling anyway. Whether what Mobius said was true or not hardly mattered at this point.
What did Miko promise Mobius?
Standing to the side listening to the two of them go back and forth, Lumine found herself wondering the sa thing.
"Why, to take out to play, of course!"
Under the curious stares of both of them, Mobius announced the answer as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Lumine: "???"
That was not the answer Lumine had been expecting. She honestly wondered if she'd heard it wrong. Because otherwise — what on earth was happening? Take her to play?
This...
I think I actually did say sothing like that...
At that, Miko finally rembered what she had once promised Mobius.
How did I manage to forget that...
Though even if I had taken her out in Inazuma back then, it wouldn't have changed anything...
Thinking it over, Miko spoke up: "Ah, that — I was a little busy at the ti. How about I take you now instead? Right here in Liyue."
It felt a bit late to be saying this, but Miko said it anyway. Even if it just bought them a little more ti, it was worth it.

She knew the smart play was to go along with Mobius for now. Who knew what she'd do otherwise.
"Then I'll go wait for you two in the courtyard." With that, a pool of dark greenish liquid suddenly appeared beneath Mobius's feet — and she sank swiftly into it and disappeared.
"She... she's gone?" Watching the whole thing unfold, Lumine was stunned.
"We need to head back quickly. No telling what she'll get up to on her own." Miko was equally thrown, but she knew they had to move. Now.
"But what about Kaito?" Lumine asked.
"We'll have to deal with that little brat first. She definitely knows where Kaito is." As much as Miko wanted to know where Kaito was right now, there was nothing to be done — their first priority had to be keeping Mobius in check.
"Then let's head back."
— Kaito's courtyard. —
"She's not here..."
"She's already inside." Before Lumine could finish the sentence, Miko, who was standing at the entrance to the courtyard, cut in — her eyes on the door, which was already standing open.
"She actually went in..."
At Miko's quiet remark, Lumine noticed the half-open door too.
She found herself genuinely curious about what Mobius would be doing in there. Was she really just sitting and waiting for them?

While Lumine was still wondering, Miko had already pushed the door open and stepped inside. Lumine hurried in after her.
But even once they were in, neither of them could see where Mobius had gone. The courtyard looked completely empty.
"Don't tell she left?" Lumine murmured, looking out at the deserted yard.
And right at that mont, Miko noticed that the door to Kaito's room was open.
