Hearing her narcissism, Naina couldn’t help but laugh.
"Also, we aren’t going to break off our friendship because of this, I hope. I believe we could beco good best friends, and that in the future, you would find soone who genuinely loves and not just likes."
Naina stared at Lana and asked, "Aren’t you afraid that I might end up harboring so... inappropriate thoughts about you again?"
Lana laughed and replied, "I believe in your character. It’s better than any gold on this entire earth."
Naina let out a quiet sigh of relief.
’Thank goodness... I was scared she would distance herself from .’
The fear that Lana might abandon their friendship slowly began to fade.
The truth is sotis, rather than the fear of rejection, what haunts a person is... fear of distance.
Lana then said softly,
"I believe we’ll beco best friends and soday talk about the people we like. And right now, I also have soone I like. I hope I can get together with that person."
When Lana said this, she subtly observed Naina’s reaction, waiting for her to slip and reveal sothing.
In truth, she was indirectly probing to see whether Naina liked Lucian or not.
Mr. Crow couldn’t help but shake his head and asked through the spiritual link,
’If you suspect Naina likes Lucian, then why do you think she likes you too?’
Lana rolled her eyes.
’There’s a term called bisexual. And it’s completely normal to like two people at the sa ti if they’re of opposite genders.’
Mr. Crow felt Lana’s thoughts were far too modernized compared to others and simply snorted without replying.
Naina, on the other hand, asked, "Is it Lucian?"
When Lana nodded firmly, Naina imdiately showed a disgusted expression and muttered,
"That guy doesn’t even have much to offer."
Lana couldn’t help but laugh.
’If I had any doubts before that she liked Lucian, they’re gone now.’
Naina’s eyes were clear, and that disgust definitely wasn’t sothing she could fake.
With a grim expression, Naina added, "In the future, if you think about changing your decision, you can always co to ."
Hearing that, Lana laughed and nodded.
After chatting a bit more, Lana returned to Lucian’s mansion, and once she arrived, she fell straight onto the bed.
In truth, she had been feeling exhausted ever since she had used her mystic energy in Ezra’s house. Now, as she lay there, her phone suddenly started ringing.
Seeing it was an unknown number, she was about to hang up when she paused, rembering she had given her number to gan’s father.
After hesitating for a mont, she made a decision and picked up the call.
Once the call connected, she heard a familiar masculine voice introducing himself.
"Hello there, my na is Mario. I’m gan’s father. My daughter is preparing to enter Shadow Ridge University, and she’s one of the most talented weapon designers. I received this number from a student there, and I heard... that I could apply for so kind of funding. I wanted to ask if there are any scholarships or temporary funds available for her."
Hearing this, Lana lowered her voice slightly to mask her gender and replied,
"Yes, your daughter can receive funds. But she needs to submit her marksheet and prove she has scored a high rank. She also needs to present her identification docunt directly to this number."
Mario hesitated before asking, "Will the docunts or ID be forwarded sowhere else?"
Lana imdiately understood... he was worried their data might be misused.
She reassured him, "The ID is only for security purposes. You just need to submit one, and it doesn’t need to be linked to any phone number."
Hearing that, Mario finally relaxed and said he would submit the docunts imdiately.
Lana nodded. "Once the docunts are submitted, the funds will arrive by tomorrow morning or the day after."
Hearing this, Mario responded almost too loudly, clearly excited. "Yes! Yes! I will wait for you then! And do you need any bank details?"
Lana tapped her forehead.
’I forgot to ask for his account number.’
Quickly, she added, "Yes, please send your account number so I can forward the funds."
Mario agreed.
After the call ended, Mario looked at his daughter, gan, who stared back at him with a told-you expression.
From her perspective, the student who had given her father that number clearly had questionable intentions.
How could soone be so generous as to share the number of a charity fund and even claim that simply submitting a marksheet and ID could grant them ten million dollars?
It was simply too good to be true.
’Ah! My naive father... how can he trust anyone? Does he truly think there are good people in this world?’
With the arrival of ghost portals, scams beca very frequent. Though mostly all of them were physical rather than digital, she was still wary.
She looked at her father, convinced he was walking straight into a scam.
But Mario was filled with confidence. He was sure they had finally found a legitimate foundation and a legitimate opportunity.
Without hesitation, he urged gan to hurry and bring her marksheets.
Under the flickering lamp of their small ho, gan sighed and went to retrieve the marksheet from the old wooden cupboard.
The entire room slled of aging wood, and it was easy to tell their living conditions were far below average.
The room they lived in was cramped, barely enough for two people to walk freely.
There was a small cupboard for their clothes and a single bed that could only fit one person.
The bed was obviously gan’s, while Mario usually slept on the floor.
Even though she repeatedly insisted he take the bed, he never listened. In the end, she simply gave up.
’Let it be... if doing this can assure him, then I will entertain him.’
A rattling fan spun above them, groaning loudly as if warning that it was reaching its final days.
