He chuckled softly.

"So even if soone decides at the age of twenty that they don’t want to join a governnt organization, they might still change their mind one day."

His gaze rested on Lana for a brief mont.

"I’m not in a hurry to recruit you."

Lana simply nodded politely.

After that short exchange, she waited until both the Celestial Master and the priest had completely left before she walked over to Monica.

Soon afterward, Monica also finished confirming several matters with the two experts before preparing to leave.

As they stepped out of the church, Lana could not help but turn around for one last glance.

The church had already been completely exorcised.

She knew very well that no malicious ghosts remained inside.

And yet...

An uneasy feeling still lingered faintly in her chest.

Lana’s gaze slowly moved upward toward the top of the church.

Then suddenly... Her eyes froze.

At the edge of the roof, she saw a faint figure.

It was a spirit.

Its form looked strange, almost transparent, as if it existed halfway between visibility and invisibility.

Lana’s eyes widened.

She imdiately raised her hand and pointed toward it.

But before she could say anything more, the spirit quietly dissipated into the air.

The entire encounter lasted less than two seconds.

Still, that brief mont was more than enough.

"I saw a ghost!" Lana imdiately called out.

Everyone turned to look at her.

The Celestial Master raised an eyebrow.

"You an a spirit that looked slightly visible but also slightly invisible?"

Lana stared at him in surprise before nodding quickly.

"Yes! That’s exactly what I saw!"

Freddie chuckled softly.

"If you had looked a little more carefully," he said casually, "you might have noticed that there were actually several spirits in this church."

Lana looked at him with confusion.

Freddie continued calmly. "Those spirits are different. They aren’t resentful ghosts released from ghost portals."

He folded his arms slightly as he spoke.

"Sotis, ghost portals release spirits as well."

Lana frowned slightly.

"But how can we be sure that those spirits won’t beco resentful later?"

The mont those words left her mouth, both the Celestial Master and the priest exchanged an appreciative glance.

Even Monica looked a little surprised by the question.

Freddie smiled faintly. "There is no guarantee."

He spoke gently.

"From a certain perspective, these spirits can indeed beco dangerous. But there is sothing else that cannot be ignored."

He continued slowly.

"Throughout history, these spirits have often protected humanity."

Lana narrowed her eyes slightly as she listened.

Freddie continued speaking.

"Sotis, when exorcists fail to notice certain ghosts, these spirits intervene and help eliminate them."

The priest nodded and added calmly,

"In Country J, there is a specific na for such spirits. They are called Shiki. When a Shiki forms a contract with a human, it becos a spirit companion."

He smiled slightly.

"The contracted human can command them freely, and most Shikis are known to be obedient... and quite cute."

Lana nodded slowly.

Mr. Crow had agreed with their explanation, so she knew that what they were saying was true.

Seeing her obedient nod, both Freddie and Ethan felt their hearts soften.

Both of them had daughters back ho.

Unfortunately, their daughters were mischievous little troublemakers who behaved like energetic monkeys every single day.

Compared to them, the girl standing in front of them looked so calm and well-behaved.

For a brief mont, both n even had the strange urge to adopt Lana imdiately.

Completely unaware of the thoughts running through their minds, Lana simply returned with Monica.

The following day, Monica arranged another appointnt.

At first, Lana felt slightly confused about the purpose of the eting, but she still agreed.

Soon, the two of them sat inside a private room.

Monica leaned forward slightly and spoke in a serious tone.

"We should buy the land around the church where we perford the exorcism."

Lana blinked in surprise. "Will the governnt even allow that?"

Monica smiled faintly.

"Because of the kidnapping case we solved earlier, we were granted certain privileges."

She calmly explained further.

"Each mber of our group is allowed to purchase up to twenty acres of land within the jurisdiction of the police station. And up to ten mbers can apply for this privilege."

Lana’s eyes instantly sparkled with delight.

’So that case really did bring us so benefits...’

Monica continued speaking.

"There are restrictions, though. This privilege can only be used once per year."

Lana nodded thoughtfully.

She understood the governnt’s intention clearly.

They wanted to protect their own interests while still rewarding the people who had helped them.

Although Lana still had a slightly negative impression of governnt systems, this particular arrangent made her feel sowhat better.

Monica looked at her seriously.

"I’m planning to expand our operations beyond just the police station."

She paused briefly before continuing.

"I’m thinking about entering the rcenary industry as well."

She leaned back in her chair.

"I’ve recently recruited a large number of police officers under my command, and with the manpower increasing so quickly..."

Her voice turned slightly heavier. "I’m starting to struggle to maintain profits."

Hearing those words, Lana slowly nodded.

Compared to how a normal police station operated, Monica’s private police station functioned quite differently.

Regular police stations usually received governnt grants to support their operations, but Monica’s organization relied entirely on the cases they accepted every single day.

Each mission and each investigation task brought in money.

At the end of every cycle, a detailed tally would be made.

The profits were then distributed according to the amount of ti and effort each individual had contributed to the cases.

Based on that calculation, salaries were issued.

’So if Monica is saying she’s having trouble making a profit...’

Lana leaned back slightly in her chair, her fingers lightly brushing the smooth wooden surface of the table.

’...then it definitely doesn’t an she lacks cases.’

From what Monica had previously told her, the police station had already received more than a hundred pending cases.
