The reminder ssage faded, leaving the ss hall in tense silence. No one was surprised since they had been warned ten days ago. But now, the countdown was over. The Field Tyrants were active, and they felt a little anxious since they had no idea how dangerous this could be.
Kai stood and looked at everyone in the hall. "It’s begun. Stay sharp. We’ll confirm if any Tyrants are near our zone."
The survivors nodded.
They had drilled for this mont, but being in this situation now felt different... There was a lot more pressure now since any mistake could cost them their lives.
Still, they had made various plans to deal with this problem...
They had enough guns and ammunition. They have enough food and weapons, so they should be just fine as long as they follow Kai’s strategies.
Soon, the scouts led by Russel started checking the surroundings.
For a while, there was nothing. No alarms, no tremors, no sign of chanical giants approaching. The uncertainty gnawed at them.
Then, the radio crackled.
Russel’s voice ca through, and he sounded so urgent.
"Leader... I’ve spotted movents. I didn’t dare get close, their scanners might detect . But I’ve got the general location. It’s near the broken cell tower, northeast. We passed through it when we first moved here."
Soon, the information was shared with everyone...
They all rembered that tower, and it was close! It was only about 500 ters away from them.
Kai’s expression hardened. "Understood. Team A, Team B... with . We’ll check it out."
Ralph’s ranged unit and Claire’s close‑combat squad assembled quickly with their weapons ready. They were the Assault Teams he had arranged before.
Jonas and Wallace, on the other hand, reinforced the periter since they couldn’t just leave this place unattended.
After all, during these tis, the A.I. Army wasn’t their only opponent. They still had to worry about the greedy Survivors lurking around.
"We’ll protect this place, Sir Kai! Don’t worry!" Jonas said after seeing Kai preparing to leave.
"I trust you..." Kai replied with a smile.
Just like that, he ordered Atom to follow him.
Then, he looked at the two teams... Team A, under Ralph’s lead, had 10 people... As for Team B under Claire’s lead, it only had 8 people, but Terrence was included here.
At this ti, Victor, who shouldn’t be part of the Assault Teams, also strapped on his gear, eager to see what kind of machine awaited them. His specialty as a chanic might be needed since they’d be facing a new type of enemy units.
"Let’s go!" Kai said as he confird that everyone was ready.
Just like that, the group moved cautiously as they left the shelter. They then started following Russel’s directions.
After so ti, the broken cell tower appeared ahead of them.
They reached a stretch of collapsed highway that overlooked the ruins of the broken cell tower. The fra of the tower was like a rusted spear. Its bent beams were even creaking faintly in the wind.
Kai crouched, signaling the others to halt.
From their vantage point, they had a clear view of the area.
And then they saw it.
The Field Tyrant stood among the ruins...
"Whoa~"
"That’s huge..."
"How are we supposed to destroy the thing?"
"Sshh... Silence!"
It was a towering ch nearly six ters tall. Its fra was bulky and their revolvers were definitely useless against it!
It had thick armor plates welded together in several layers, as if scavenged from countless other machines.
Thud... Thud... Thud...
Each step it took made the ground shudder, sending vibrations through the cracked pavent.
Still, they noticed that this Field Tyrant seed to be a badly made humanoid ch. It was unlike Atom that looked flawless.
"Probably made by Aria rather than the Anima Civilization," Kai guessed. He rembered that Aria was the human-created A.I. that had rebelled, while the Anima Civilization was the one that ca from another realm and had manipulated Aria into turning against humanity.
Based on their assumptions, the C-Grade or lower-grade enemy units were most likely made by Aria, while the high-grade ones were made by the Anima Civilization.
In short, this Field Tyrant didn’t seem to be that high-grade after seeing its build.
Apparently, its arms were enormous, one ending in a clawed hand capable of crushing vehicles, while the other was fitted with a heavy cannon instead. Along its shoulders were uneven armored plating extended outward like shields, and from its back rose a cluster of antennae and sensor arrays...
Of course, it was still dangerous, but it didn’t look like a polished ch Unit.
"This might be doable..." Terrence muttered.
"It’s huge but...it looked imbalanced," Claire comnted.
The machine moved unevenly since its left leg was shorter as well/.
Still, around the Field Tyrant were Sentinel escorts patrolling in tight formation. There were only nine of them, but they weren’t easy to deal with.
They were still about 2 ters tall after all.
Furthermore, they carried rifles integrated into their arms as if expecting an ambush.
Victor couldn’t help but clench his fist as he saw this...
"That’s it, huh... the Field Tyrant. That thing looked terrifying. It’s also a bit too massive for us... How are we supposed to destroy that thing?"
"I’m curious about that too... I wonder how the others will deal with this."
"Well, they’ll probably think of escaping. Anyway, the mission also ntioned that we can just try and survive for 10 days, and we’ll get a reward."
Many of them had similar thoughts.
Even from this distance, the machine’s presence was suffocating. It wasn’t just its size, it was the way it dominated the ruins, as if the cell tower and the surrounding area had already beco its territory.
Kai then o took a deep breath...
’It moves slowly... It should be possible, right?’
As he thought this, he looked at Atom, which was ready to strike down at his command.
Then, he turned to Russel.
"So... Russel, did you find the Spyder Rangers?"
