When the Magic Giant Crossbows, etched with Magic Runes, were set up at the main gate of the Moon Elf Main City, one hundred Magic Stone-Throwing Cannons were positioned behind them, all aid at the city gate. Even more, at the urging of the great God of Nature, ten experintal models of Magic Cannons powered by Magic Crystals were also placed beside the Magic Giant Crossbows!
Such a blatant move by the Elf Corps from the Elf Alliance naturally caught the attention of the Elf Guards patrolling the walls of the Moon Elf Main City. When a patrolling Elf saw this scene, he was instantly scared out of his wits!
Where are the reinforcents we sent out? What about the Elf Corps guarding the east and south? How did the enemy Elf Corps get all the way to the Moon Elf Main City without a sound!
But no matter how many thoughts raced through the mind of the patrolling Elf Guard on the walls of the Moon Elf Main City, his instincts guided him to report this intelligence to his superior at once.
When the Defense Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City heard the news, he too was startled. He imdiately dropped what he was doing and hurried to the city wall to see the situation for himself. When the Defense Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City ascended the wall and saw the dense masses of the Elf Alliance army outside, his face instantly turned as pale as a sheet.
"Th-this... How is this possible?!" the Elf Defense Army Commander said, his voice trembling. "The Elf Defense Armies in the two Elf Cities to the east and the two to the south—what are they all doing? Did they just let the Elf Corps of the Elf Alliance march straight through unopposed? Why didn’t they send us any intelligence at all? Surely their cities couldn’t have all been breached, or they’ve opened their gates and surrendered, right?"
Seeing this, the Guard Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City hurriedly told his adjutant, "Go quickly! Inform Moon Elf Prince Sukaman that the army of the Elf Alliance has surrounded the Moon Elf Main City! Hurry and tell His Highness the Prince that the enemy has marched unopposed and is now at our gates!"
The adjutant, also frantic upon hearing the news, acknowledged the order and rushed off. He knew Moon Elf Prince Sukaman had a violent temper and might even strike him down in a fit of rage. However, one matter would rely get him a beating, while the other, more serious one, could cost him his head. He was quite clear on which was more important.
After the adjutant left, the Defense Army Commander continued to observe the situation outside the walls. He saw the sa incredibly powerful Magic Equipnt ntioned in the letters from the other Elf Cities. Behind the Magic Equipnt were the nurous Celestial Rong Tree-man Corps, and two full formations of the Elf Mage Corps, nearly two thousand strong.
Any last shred of hope in his heart vanished.
If it were just an ordinary Elf Corps, he could still console himself, thinking that the walls of their Moon Elf Main City were sturdy and could hold for a long ti. But when he saw that the enemy had more Tree-man Corps and even more Elf Mage Corps than the Moon Elves themselves, his reason wouldn’t allow him to indulge in self-deception.
There’s no other way. We have to face them head-on!
The Guard Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City no longer hesitated. He recalled the first wave of attacks suffered by the other four Elf Cities, as described in the recent letters. He imdiately arranged for the Elf Mages to activate the City Defense Magic Array. At the sa ti, he ordered the Elf Archers and Elf Soldiers to mount the city walls and reinforce the defenses.
After the Elf Mages hastily followed his orders and activated the Magic Defense Array, the Guard Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City finally felt a sense of security.
Those are the Magic Stone-Throwing Cannons ntioned in the letters, and those are the Magic Giant Crossbows... but what are those round, barrel-shaped things?
The Guard Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City compared what he saw one by one with the contents of the letters, but there was one round, barrel-shaped piece of Magic Equipnt that he had never seen before.
However, just as he was pondering this, his adjutant suddenly returned with a group of people behind him.
"Greetings, Your Highness the Moon Elf Prince!"
The Moon Elf Prince waved his hand, indicating that such formalities were unimportant at a ti like this. He didn’t even have ti to get angry; he had rushed over without a mont’s rest the instant he received the news. When he hurried onto the city wall and saw the scene outside, he couldn’t help but gasp in shock.
"The Elf Corps of the Elf Alliance... has actually developed to this extent!"
Even as a prince of the Moon Elf royal family, he was shocked at the first sight of the Celestial Rong Tree-man Corps outside. No matter how many tis he had been told that four Elf Cities were already besieged by the Elf Corps, the Moon Elf Prince had only felt a sense of urgency.
