The commander of the Defense Army anxiously asked the Moon Elf Prince, "His Highness the Prince, what should we do now?"
Hearing this, the Moon Elf Prince was unable to respond. He carefully observed the enemy’s formation, trying to find a weakness, but no matter how he looked at it, the opposing Elf Corps seed well-trained and well-equipped. They were by no ans inferior, even when compared to the Elf Corps in their own Moon Elf City. This was nothing like the kind of Elf Corps that could be haphazardly cobbled together from a dozen or two small Elf Tribes and a few mid-sized ones from the south.
After another mont of silence, the Moon Prince Sukaman finally gave his answer, "What you did just now was right. Prioritize activating the Magic Defense Array! This is no ti to conserve Magic Power! As for how we should respond... Do you have any good ideas?"
Hearing Moon Prince Sukaman’s reply, the commander of the Defense Army froze for a mont before schooling his features and burying his shock. He cursed inwardly, Aren’t you the Elf Prince? You’re the one with the highest authority here! Why are you kicking this problem back to ?
But faced with Moon Prince Sukaman’s gaze, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse. He racked his brains and finally ca up with an idea. "Your Highness, could we use our Moon Elves’ ace cavalry—the Shadow Claw—to shatter their formation and buy ourselves more ti?"
Upon hearing this, a flicker of hesitation crossed Moon Prince Sukaman’s eyes. He seed to recall sothing, then said, "What about the Elf Corps we sent out to support the other Elf Cities? Can that Elf Corps be recalled now?"
In response to Moon Prince Sukaman’s question, the Guard Army Commander shook his head, indicating that he didn’t know the status of the Elf Corps that had been dispatched to support the other Elf Cities.
Seeing the Guard Army Commander shake his head, another of Elf Prince Sukaman’s hopes was dashed. "But if we send out the Moon Elf Cavalry Corps, the city will have no defenses left, aside from the other Royal Mage Corps and the remaining Tree-man Corps!
"The remaining Tree-man Corps can’t defend from atop the walls. The city’s defenses are already stretched thin. If we also send out the Moon Elf Cavalry Corps, I... I’m afraid... the Moon Elf Cavalry Corps might fall into an enemy ambush and never return!"
Hearing this, the Guard Army Commander of the Moon Elf Main City said, "His Highness the Prince, you are the highest-ranking Elf present. We will all obey your command. If the Prince decides not to dispatch the Moon Elf Cavalry Corps, then we won’t. If the Prince decides to dispatch them, then we will! But regardless, we are running out of ti." As he said this, the commander of the Elf Guard Army glanced back over the wall at the movents of the opposing Elf Corps.
Seeing the Elf Corps outside the wall poised for attack and nearly finished with their preparations, Moon Prince Sukaman grew extrely anxious.
At that mont, so wise-ass in the group piped up, "If we really can’t hold them off, can’t we just call upon the great Moon God? Would the great Moon God really stand by and watch our city fall and all the Moon Elves be wiped out? If that happens, wouldn’t the Moon God lose the very source of his worship?"
At these words, the eyes of both Moon Prince Sukaman and the Guard Army Commander beside him lit up. That’s right, how could they have forgotten? The biggest difference between the Moon Elf Main City and the other four cities under Moon Elf control was that the Main City had the ultimate trump card—the great Moon God! As long as the Beast God, the God of the Sea, or the previously grievously wounded Elf God didn’t show up, who else could possibly stop the great Moon God?!
Instantly, all the Elves present, from Moon Prince Sukaman to the Elf Guard Army Commander, heaved a long sigh of relief. The anxiety they had felt monts ago was completely replaced by a potent excitent! With the great Moon God ready to intervene, what did it matter if they faced an Elf Corps or a Tree-man Corps? All would fall before the Moon God’s imnse Power!
The thought of having the great Moon God as a safety net emboldened Moon Prince Sukaman. "Since we have the great Moon God, does that an that even if the enemy Elf Corps manages to break into our Moon Elf Main City, the great Moon God’s appearance will be enough to turn the tables?"
"Of course! The great Moon God is omnipotent! Of course that’s possible!"
Before the Elf Guard Army Commander beside him could answer Moon Prince Sukaman’s question, his adjutant gave a firm reply. The Elf Guard Army Commander’s adjutant was a Moon Elf, and he was extrely proud that his Moon Elf bloodline alone had granted him such a high position. Ordinarily, the words most often on his lips were thanks to the great Moon God. Therefore, when he now heard what he perceived as a slight against the great Moon God, he answered without hesitation, even though the person asking the question was Moon Prince Sukaman himself.
Fortunately, Moon Prince Sukaman didn’t notice his tone, because he had already lost himself in an excited fantasy.
Since the Moon God is our ultimate safety net, then if I issue the right orders now and turn the tide, all the glory will be mine! As long as my achievents are great enough, I can secure my claim to the throne! After this, not even my younger brother or sister will be able to take this position from !
The more Elf Prince Sukaman thought about it, the more excited he beca.
"Good! "Even if your decision proves correct, you won’t be around to claim the credit! Everyone will know the order ca from you, and the victory will be yours. Isn’t that enough? No one would dare steal your glory! We only ca up with this plan under your leadership!"
Left with no other choice, and seeking to dissuade Moon Elf Prince Sukaman from this "dangerous" idea, the Guard Army Commander summoned every ounce of his sycophantic skill, praying the Elf Prince would change his mind.
After hearing the Elf Guard Army Commander’s speech, the Moon Prince was reminded of his wonderful life from before: food served to his open mouth, clothes brought to his outstretched hands, and even elven maids to warm his bed at night.
How could I ever leave a life like that behind?
At this thought, the Elf Prince abandoned his original idea. However, the Moon Elves’ ace cavalry still had to be dispatched, and the Royal Elf Mage Corps still had to ascend the walls to provide cover.
"Alright, in that case, relay my command! Have the Moon Elves’ ace cavalry corps prepare!"
The next mont, one of Moon Prince Sukaman’s guards took the prince’s orders and headed for the barracks of the Moon Elves’ ace cavalry corps.
The Moon Elves’ ace cavalry was called the Shadow Claw. The male Moon Elves ride Shadow Tigers, and the female Moon Elves ride black panthers. They represent the fangs and claws of the Moon God’s hunt. Their strength, tested and proven through countless trials, was undeniably imnse.
