Seeing the Demon King no longer engaging in battle with him and instead retreating into the depths of the high tower, the enraged Lizard Tar Raj initially wanted to continue chasing, but suddenly his expression changed slightly, and he stopped in his tracks.
He could faintly see so ferocious and twisted green veins erging on his body, indicating not only that he was in an explosive state but also that his abilities were nearing their limit. Continuing to overuse them could lead to disastrous consequences.
Realizing that his own life was more important, Raj imdiately turned back and quickly retreated from the entrance of the tower. If he went any further, he might not have been able to leave successfully and would have had to force his way through the tower.
Outside the tower, a large number of high-ranking professionals were waiting in formation at the gateway. They were following the instructions of the Duke Agulas Rod and did not rush blindly into the tower’s interior, but they felt there wasn’t much hope for the Lizard Tar who had gone in alone earlier.
This mysterious professional was known for having average combat power but boasting excessively, seeming not very bright. Normally, they could overlook him, but at this mont, rushing in to rescue him was out of the question. He was left to beco the Demon King’s first al.
However, just as they were thinking this, the Lizard Tar erged from the tower’s gate, seemingly unhard, causing those outside to be incredulous, their attention imdiately focusing on him, trying to find evidence of him being disguised by the Demon King.
"My investigation spell checked out, it’s really the Lizard Tar!"
"Lizard Tar! You didn’t die!"
"What happened to the Demon King! Lizard Tar!"

The crowd quickly surrounded this unassuming yet surviving fellow, giving him a sense of being in the spotlight usually reserved for protagonists.
Under the gazes of the crowd, the Lizard Tar puffed up his not-so-strong chest and said very ostentatiously:
"Everyone! Just now Raj was this close to using a secret technique to kill the Demon King! But it accidentally escaped into the depths of the tower! Rest assured, next ti I see it, I won’t give it a second chance to live!"
His words were filled with a kind of self-assurance that was unassailable, though a bit arrogantly confident, making the surrounding professionals unable to refrain from rolling their eyes.
The reason they didn’t believe Raj’s words was mainly because the first wave of battle had already revealed a lot. The Demon King’s strength was clearly above theirs, charging straight into the tower without hesitation, treating their defensive lines as nothing. If it weren’t in a hurry to enter the tower, there might have been a fierce battle.
And just now, Raj hadn’t really shown any strength to directly confront the Demon King, especially since his summoned beast was instantly crashed through by the Demon King, putting him at a severe disadvantage. That he managed to return from the tower probably ant the Demon King couldn’t be bothered with him and had ventured deeper into the tower.
"Alright, Raj, your strength truly amazes us! If the Demon King cos out, please continue as the vanguard. We’re counting on you to hold the Demon King in this battle!"
So busybody took the opportunity to lavishly praise Raj, mainly to pin him down into the most dangerous team role, since he seed not to mind anyway.
Shifting the perspective to the inside of the tower, the Demon King, having abandoned attacking Raj, advanced at high speed as if it was very familiar with the structure of the tower. At each checkpoint, it could instantly eliminate all monsters as they appeared, occasionally finding shortcuts to further speed up its progress. It didn’t take long to reach the upper levels of the tower, a sea of magma.
Arriving here was intentional; it sought to recruit a capable subordinate, none other than the Magma Dragon that once communicated with Wang Zhifan.
"Cole! I have returned! Conquer this world with ! I shall grant you endless treasures!"
Facing the massive dragon bathing in the sea of magma, the Demon King’s words were alluring. The sa simple reasoning had once recruited this fellow into its ranks. Although it failed in the end, the Demon King felt confident that the dragon would still accept, given its nature—greedy and combative. The Demon King had plenty of experience dealing with them.
As its voice resonated through the bubbling magma sea, a massive head erged from the magma. It found that, over the years, this once-capable subordinate had not only not declined in power but had grown stronger with age, a great delight indeed.
"Demon King, I refuse to join your ranks."
Unexpectedly, the dragon’s response was completely contrary to the Demon King’s expectations, causing its already fierce face to sour further.
"How dare you defy ! Cole! Have you forgotten your place? Before , your only function is to obey! Obedience leads to survival, defiance will bring death!"
The Demon King straightforwardly threatened, knowing that this forr subordinate was no match in strength. It had no grounds to oppose.
This was the Demon King’s way of dealing with matters, where brute force could settle things directly, without needing much reasoning or fuss.
But clearly, this ti the Demon King overestimated its deterrence. It found the creature in the magma unmoved by its words, responding instead with so disdain:
"Demon King! The era has changed! Two thousand years ago, you were the world’s strongest being, but not anymore! Recently, I t a human stronger than you. Unless you can kill him to prove your strength, I won’t join you! You should know we Dragons don’t like following losers! Once is enough for such an experience!"
