Now reading: Chapter 60 - 59: Tell a Story from Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress, a Fantasy novel by Rampaging Laughter.

Shamans are not simply Casters; they are more like keepers of knowledge.

All kinds of knowledge are etched into their bloodline through Magic Power. A Shaman’s successor can acquire the knowledge left behind by their Ancestors through this bloodline. The Shamans of this Otherworld are more akin to Witches.

The strange phenonon in the main hall left Li Ziyu and Liu Xingxing utterly stunned. Their expressions shifted from surprise to a trance-like state as they beca imrsed in the story.

It wasn’t just the two of them; even Mumu had never witnessed such a scene. The Tabu Tribe was too small and had no Shaman. They only knew that Shamans were powerful, but not how magical they could be. So, his state was basically the sa as Li Ziyu’s—shifting from initial shock to a gradually softening expression, and finally, into a trance.

Tas Tuling spoke slowly, drawing upon the knowledge in his bloodline. His voice was deep, heavy, and reassuring.

Li Ziyu had an illusion that he had beco a Minotaur child, sitting around a bonfire with his companions. A kind, elderly man, leaning on a Knobbed Wooden Staff, was telling them mythical legends.

"...Death is never the end, but the beginning, because the Undead exist. They are peculiar. They are not life, for they are already dead. They are not death, for they can still move."

"The Undead detest all living things. They do not represent death; they *are* death itself."

"When they appear in our world, it signifies the arrival of chaos, Darkness, terror, and death, like an unending winter—cold and dreadful."

"Do not look for the Undead, and pray you never see them. Wherever they pass, the land dies. The soil rots from the Power of death, turning a deep, dark color. Flowers and grass cease to exist, trees wither, insects no longer chirp, and birds no longer sing. Everything falls into silence."

"All lives will reach their end, but the Undead... they will be waiting for us at that end..."

As the story unfolded, a beautiful world appeared before Li Ziyu’s eyes. Flowers and grass grew, trees flourished, lush and green. Insects chirped, birds sang—it was a thriving world, full of the beauty of life.

Darkness spread, and dark clouds shrouded the sky. A gloom pressed down on people’s hearts. From so unknown place, at so unknown ti, the Undead ca.

They ca in swarms—a dense, endless, unrelenting tide.

The lands they walked upon turned pitch-black as everything died. When they waded through rivers, the clear water beca utterly foul, turning a murky green, bubbling as a nauseating, foul-slling white gas rose from its surface. When they crossed mountains, the vegetation vanished, leaving only bare stone.

Countless Races wailed and scread. So brave warriors charged the Undead, sharp blades in hand. Their flesh and blood corroded and dissolved, turning them into Skeletons as their souls dispersed. But then the Skeletons rose again, staggering to join the Undead Army. The scattered souls coalesced beneath the dark clouds and let out a piercing shriek.

The sound stopped abruptly. The illusion shattered like a soap bubble, and the surrounding mist dissipated. The main hall ca back into focus. Li Ziyu, Liu Xingxing, and Mumu snapped back to their senses, taking a deep breath.

Mumu looked at Tas Tuling and saw him sway violently, about to collapse. He quickly reached out to support him. "Tas Tuling, are you alright?"

Tas Tuling was breathing rapidly, his face pale. He weakly shook his head. "I’m fine. It just took a heavy toll."

Li Ziyu looked over, his eyes full of apology. He hadn’t expected that simply asking a question about the Undead would completely drain Tas Tuling.

"I’m sorry. My Magic Power is limited. I couldn’t sustain it any longer," Tas Tuling said to Li Ziyu with sincerity.

Li Ziyu stood up, walked over to Tas Tuling, and crouched down, patting his head. ’To be able to do sothing like that is already incredible. Besides, he’s just a kid. What could he have done wrong? He tried his best, which is countless tis better than those troublemaking brats.’ He then comforted him, "You did a great job. I was very surprised. It was beyond my imagination."

Hearing Li Ziyu’s words, Tas Tuling finally relaxed, and a smile appeared on his face.

The pressure on Tas Tuling was imnse. He had traded his own life for the Master of the Undead’s protection over his Tribe. He didn’t know the Master of the Undead’s temperant, so he strived for perfection in everything. Only by satisfying the Master of the Undead could his people live better lives.

Although he had inherited the best traits from both his parents, he was still young and hadn’t fully matured. His internal Magic Power was insufficient. If he failed to answer Li Ziyu’s question properly and brought wrath upon his people, he would beco a sinner.

’Thankfully, it seems the Master of the Undead is satisfied.’

"Mumu, take him to rest."

"Oh, right. Tas Tuling, you don’t need to go to such lengths next ti. You just have to answer my questions."

Li Ziyu gave the order, then added a reminder for Tas Tuling.

Mumu helped Tas Tuling up. Tas Tuling nodded to Li Ziyu and left the main building with Mumu.

After the two Minotaurs left, Liu Xingxing cheered, skipping over to Li Ziyu’s side. "Boss, was that Magic just now? That was so cool!"

Li Ziyu looked at the carefree guy, the corner of his mouth twitching. "Are your priorities a little skewed? Did you think I brought him here just to listen to a story?"

"Uh... Boss, my mistake," Liu Xingxing admitted instantly, without a mont’s hesitation.

Ignoring the guy, Li Ziyu walked back to his White Bone Throne and sat down, pondering the story he had just heard.

’If the Beastman Race’s impression of the Undead is really like what’s in that story, then everything makes sense. Such a terrifying Race, whose appearance ans death... I doubt there’s any Race that wouldn’t panic, right?’

’Back in my previous life, if Humans encountered such a thing, they’d most likely just launch the nukes without a second thought.’

’But what the hell do the Undead of legend have to do with , Li Ziyu, and my Undead?!’

’The Mobile Fortress has passed through plenty of places, and I haven’t seen any land turn black. It’s been near rivers and pools, and the water didn’t turn green. It’s all slander! Nothing like the legends.’

’If my Undead were really like the legends, would I still need to hide away and develop cautiously?’

’I’d just steamroll everything!’

’Unfortunately, I can only think these things to myself. No one would believe if I said it out loud. After all, the legends have been passed down since the ti of the "Ancestors." The Beastn have Ancestor worship; whatever the Ancestors said is law. It’s always right and cannot be refuted. To refute it is a sin.’

’Damn it, it’s a hopeless situation!’

’Since this misunderstanding can’t be cleared up, there’s only one path left: get stronger. Strong enough that the Natives won’t dare to make a move against .’

Thinking of the 2,000-so Undead under his command, Li Ziyu sighed. ’It’s a heavy burden and a long road ahead.’

’I can’t just be lazy and coast along anymore. I have to get moving, have to hurry. I might be unmotivated by nature, but other people are plotting how to kill . My motivation doesn’t co from within; it cos from external pressure.’

’Damn it.’

Liu Xingxing noticed that Li Ziyu was lost in thought again and quietly slipped away. He planned to find Tas Tuling and figure out how that Illusion Realm worked. ’It was so magical!’

After a while of letting his thoughts run wild, Li Ziyu ca back to his senses and opened the system interface. He began checking his buildings and technology. He had already stockpiled a good number of Skeletons, so it was ti to consider an upgrade.
