Chapter 589: Chapter 297: Soldin, Deal Closed (Part 2)

Maybe about a hundred years old?

For a Dwarf with an average lifespan of 350 years, this could be considered the pri of life.

In terms of profession, it should be a type similar to a Close Combat Warrior.

He was wearing a piece of Light Plate Armor suited for his Dwarf build, which looked much heavier than Xia Nan’s Plate Chain Composite Armor, making his already stump-like body even sturdier;

He carried a broad tal Round Shield on his back, with the emblem faintly visible, though the exact design was hard to discern from this angle. At his waist hung a One Handed Hamr reflecting a tallic sheen, appearing to be of high quality, but likely not an Enchanted Weapon.

It’s worth ntioning that this Dwarf adventurer nad Soldin, like Barn, had nearly chest-length, intricately braided beard.

The dark brown, almost black beard was ticulously braided into several thick strands, interspersed with a few durable copper rings, and at the ends dangled a small piece of polished obsidian. It was evident he spent considerable ti grooming his precious beard, giving it a unique, exotic racial charm.

“An indecisive pickaxe never strikes sparks, ti is precious, shall we start directly?”

Accustod to being straightforward, the adventurer’s lifestyle perhaps taught this Dwarf how to communicate suitably with other races, yet growing up by the forge and anvil, he retained his straightforward and sincere deanor within the clan, disliking evasive and complex rhetoric.

Sitting down opposite the table, Soldin spoke directly.

It wasn’t unexpected or off-putting; after all, compared to verbal wrangling, Xia Nan also preferred a more efficiency-oriented style.

Seeing this, he didn’t say much, just nodded slightly:

“Na your price.”

He already had so understanding of the Flail’s effects from the Association but hadn’t examined it closely.

After asking Xia Nan and receiving his approval, Soldin leaned forward and picked up the Iron Stomach Flail from the table, holding it in both hands to carefully study it.

He examined it very seriously, with the “racial abilities” endowed by his upbringing allowing him to keenly detect the small flaws and outstanding rits on the flail.

Skillfully, his large fingers nimbly brushed over the chain links; he weighed the balance, checked the connection between the handle and the hinge, and occasionally bent his knuckles to tap lightly, focusing on the crisp sound inside.

“Hmm…” A low murmur ca from his throat, a slight gleam flickered deep within his equally dark brown eyes, and he muttered to himself, “The craftsmanship is very unique, probably not made by blacksmiths from the Sevia Kingdom’s Earth Realm, yet of unexpectedly high quality. Even though it has been left idle for a long ti without proper maintenance, the surface is sowhat rusted, but the overall structure remains quite intact, fully usable in battle.”

After a mont of contemplation, Soldin carefully placed the flail back on the table, lifted his head, and locked eyes with Xia Nan.

“I want this flail; how about 125 Gold?”

Hearing this, there was no obvious emotional fluctuation on Xia Nan’s face; he remained expressionless, though inwardly he paused.

This offer… was sowhat unexpected to him.

The equipnt he consigned through the Association finally caught soone’s interest, and he was still carrying a deficit of several hundred gold coins. Naturally, he had done his howork before coming.

Three days ago, after learning from the Association receptionist Moli that soone was seeking to buy the flail, Xia Nan deliberately returned to the “Rock Hamr” Blacksmith Shop and consulted Barn in detail about the flail’s price.

He had prepared a bottom price he was willing to accept in his mind.

Although the Iron Stomach Flail itself couldn’t be called an Enchanted Weapon, and the attribute panel displayed its quality as White (ordinary), it had two additional attributes. Therefore, when selling it as spoils of war, there was no need to apply too much of a discount.

As long as the other side offered a price of 115 Gold or higher, Xia Nan was ready to agree to the sale.

According to past haggling experience, to earn enough profit and make it easier for buyers to bargain down, sellers often initially give an offer several tis higher than the final sale price or even tack on an extra zero at the end.

Similarly, buyers often start with a lower offer and gradually negotiate upwards.

But unexpectedly, the Dwarf before him opened with a price above Xia Nan’s bottom line right from the start.

This wasn’t because the other party was naive about equipnt quality.

Quite the opposite, it was due to their understanding of the item’s market value that Soldin and Barn, despite not having contact with the flail, made the sa judgnt about its price.

Very straightforwardly and sincerely, they directly offered a price close to the flail’s real value, skipping the negotiation back-and-forth.

With such straightforwardness from the other party, Xia Nan’s initial plan of quoting an exorbitant price and slowly working down wasn’t feasible, as it would show a lack of respect or intention to sell.

But having co this far, he certainly wanted to earn a bit more.

After a brief contemplation, Xia Nan slowly spoke:

“155 Gold.”

“Deal.”

Seeing the offer was within an acceptable range, the Dwarf Soldin straightforwardly agreed without further negotiation.

His decisive tone and attitude even made Xia Nan montarily wonder if he had undersold it.

Their hands clasped once more, sealing the transaction.

Thus, from the Dwarf entering the trading room, it took less than ten minutes.

Not even as long as Xia Nan had been waiting there.

Handing over the Crystal Card worth 150 Gold along with five Gold Coins counted from his pouch, the Dwarf’s hearty laughter once again filled the room.

“Hahaha, when I first saw the flail’s effects on the list, I was surprised. In this world, besides those damn Ogres, it seems only Dwarves could use it.”

Hearing this, Xia Nan nodded inwardly.

The main effect of the Iron Stomach Flail is for users with a Body Mass Index (weight in kilograms/height in ters squared) greater than or equal to fifty; it can cause an additional chance of internal bleeding to low-HP enemies during attacks and reduce stamina consumption.

This ant that with the Dwarves’ four to five feet height yet even heavier weight than grown humans, they truly were the best users for this flail.

But…

Xia Nan subconsciously glanced at the hamr hanging from the other’s waist.

Seemingly sensing the confusion in his gaze, Soldin smiled and explained:

“The flail’s quality is certainly good, the craftsmanship alone makes it worth keeping as a collection at ho, but I don’t have such idle inclinations nor do I particularly fancy swinging weapons with chains.”

“I bought it to send back ho for my newly adult nephew.”

“The lad’s got strength in his arms but is a bit clumsy. He can’t aim well with an axe and doesn’t handle a shield steadily. This thing…” He hefted the flail, the chain clinks echoing crisply, “has enough weight! As long as he doesn’t hit himself, swinging it around looks quite formidable.”

“It’s just right for him to practice and endure so hardships, so he doesn’t always think about going out to be an adventurer.”

Understanding internally, Xia Nan couldn’t help but privately lant.

The adventurer profession is indeed peculiar. Outsiders yearn to join, yet even those already established don’t wish their loved ones to tread the sa path.

Every experienced colleague he had encountered felt this way without exception.

It seed there were urgent matters to attend to, as the Dwarf didn’t linger in the room after the transaction, only briefly inquiring about the flail’s origins. Seeing no useful information was forthcoming, he took his leave.

Placing the Crystal Card and Gold Coins into his pouch, Xia Nan let out a slight sigh of relief.

155 Gold, after deducting the Association’s 5% transaction fee, left 147 Gold, 2 Silver, and 5 Copper in hand.

Now he “only” needed to earn another four hundred plus Gold to reach the 3000 Gold required for the recasting.

Encouraging himself, Xia Nan pushed open the door and headed towards the counter on the second floor.

No ti to waste, better see if there are any suitable tasks available.
