Another arrow ca flying out,t aid at Susan. Roselle acted swiftly. Her blade turned into a blur, cutting it down.

Cain threw a glance at the girl on the ground. Her face wasn't very visible as her long black hair had fallen to cover it up.

Her body was covered in dirt and dried up blood. Her leather armor had been torn in nurous places, revealing all sorts of gashes and wounds ranging from deep to shallow.

One thing was for certain though. She was in critical condition. Her breathing was shallow, and she had already passed out from blood loss.

Cain turned back to face the individuals that were most likely responsible for this.

The one at the head of the group wore a wide grin on his face,

"Well isn't this a wonderful surprise. To think we would et each other again so soon, Cain."

Cain's expression remained the sa.

'They know my na.'

Which ant he knew them from the ti before he had no recollections of.

Judging from their deanor, and the slightly feeling of repulsion coming from his stomach, there was no doubt they were not exactly friendly.

He quickly judged the situation,

'Five of them, four of us. No, three. We are wounded and exhausted. They all seem rather fresh, with no major injuries I can see.'

In other words...

Fighting them would be the absolute definition of a fools errand.

His eyes narrowed,

'In the first place, they don't seem to interested in a fight either.'

He paused then looked down at the girl Susan was trying her best to heal.

So of her dark hair had fallen to the side, revealing her beautiful features and splendid bosom.

Cain didn't think he knew her. But there was sothing.

It was an austere feeling. It was sothing he didn't know.

But it was there.

'Could this be fate?' he thought to himself.

It was no coincidence that this had happened.

Sothing had definitely pushed for this to occur.

Cain had been silent for too long.

The long-eared humanoid just a few ters away from him chuckled,

"Are you that confused? Well, that would make sense, seeing as you all are in quote the predicant, it would seem."

His eyes narrowed, and his grin beca dark and sinister.

Three of the five Elves dashed forward. The remaining two at the back lines began chanting whilst drawing on their bowstrings.

Cain thought fast.

There was no longer any room for dialogue, it would seem.

These people... no, they weren't people. They weren't humans. They were sothing more.

{Eye of Clairvoyance} told him so.

The mass of swirling mana around them was richer, greater in both volu and quality, compared to what humans could control.

His mind spun.

How had they managed to avoid his gaze for so long? Whatever abilities they were employing could not only dampened his sight, it could also misdirect it.

They had been hiding under his nose all this ti.

If they had choosen to assassinate them, there would have been nothing they could to avoid it.

His eyes narrowed.

But these creatures were far too arrogant to take such an approach.

He could see it on their faces.

Their grins were overbearing and confident.

They had absolutely no fear whatsoever.

They completely understood their opponent. However, their opponent didn't know a single thing about them.

By all forms of reason, they had no reason to fear.

Eziel was born with prestige flowing through his veins in the form of blood.

The bloodline of the High Elves was sacred, a thing of legends and epics.

They were a glorious race scattered across the universe, appearing in many worlds both in the Mortal and Godly planes.

High Elves and Elves in general were beings with incredibly long lifespans. A single elf could live for five hundred years of need be.

This gave them more than enough ti to beco powerful, albeit not as powerful as the true mbers of the celestial race.

Not only that, but they were once of the races that were fully backed and supported by the Heavenly Emperor himself.

To say they didn't have any enemies would not be an understatent.

And because of this, their very nature was one of arrogance.

Their egos loved and breathed with them. It was a part of their essence, of their blood.

And for a race as lowly as the humans, beings who could only crawl around in their excrent, to drawn breath from the sa air as they did, was unforgivable.

But that was not what had gotten to him .

As the leader of his squad, Eziel has a cool head on his shoulders compared to most other {High Elves}.

So, the foolishness of a few lesser beings would not affect him too much.

Instead, what has really ticked him off,

Was that one human.

It was also the one human that was staring him right in the eye in this mont.

As a three hundred years old {High Elf}, Eziel has hunted down thousands upon thousands of creatures ranging from small lesser dragons, all the way to creatures of the depths, to eldritch beings that crawled out of the void, to magnificent beasts that ruled the skies.

He had also hunted down quite a few humans in his ti.

Humans were found on many worlds within the Mortal Realm. Most of the ti, the worlds they ruled over were under servitude to a Celestial Deity or maybe even a Celestial Beast. Under the laws of servitude, he couldn't touch them.

However, there were nurous other worlds with wild humans that were free for the taking.

Hunting them down was a fun sport. They were not the strongest, or swiftest, or most agile.

Their physical capabilities were so of the worst.

But they were cunning...

They made use of everything they could to struggle and try to seek hope.

But of course, absolute strength crushed their hopes, turning it into a despair fueled nightmare.

There was no salvation for wild ga. They existed only for amusent.

So for one of these things to make such brazen eyes at him was a shocker.

Then he had learnt that the human possessed so strange Demonic strains within his blood, which didn't say much.

Perhaps it was the bastard kin of a Demon that had crawled out of the Hell Realms to cause havoc in the world of mortals, he thought to himself.

But it had gotten him curious.

Demons were a peculiar race, one he had not co across often despite his many crusades as the son of a noble elf family.

He has silently observed this damned abomination of a human. Thanks to the charms he has acquired from the treasury, he and the other Elves were completely unaffected by the enchantnt within the Trial of Slaughter.

They remained their mories and completely had their wits about them.

They held the sole advantage here.

However, he was no fool. After observing Cain and his pack of humans, he had also co to the conclusion that this group of humans was not the least bit normal.

They constantly defeated creatures that were theoretically more powerful, faster, more keen, more agile.

It made hi feel uneasy.

And so, when the Trial of Slaughter has begun, he tracked down one of the humans he had seen with Cain. While he could have killed them before hand, for so reason, he had bid his ti. Discover more stories at My Virtual Library Empire

Ignoring Vlad's constant pushe, he had waited.

Waited for when the despair would be at its potential highest.

And seeing a sliver of that emotion creep onto Cain's face sent him over the edge.

He felt ecstatic.

He felt thrilled.

'Yes! Fall! Fall even more! Let be the orchestrator of your despair!'

He turned into a blur, then disappeared.

Cain took a deep breath in and imdiately closed his eyes.

'I can't rely on my eyes.'

He had learned the hard way. Illusions and enchantnts worked only on those that used their senses to try to break them. It was a fruitless endeavor.

So he decided to get rid of his senses all together.

Instead, he would rely on sothing more.

{Eye of Clairvoyance} had failed him once.

It was an incredible skill, but it wouldn't be very useful right now.

And so, instead, Cain decided to call upon sothing different.

'There is sothing I can use...'

Although his mories had been tampered with, there was only so much that could be taksn away. Sothing already imprinted up on his spirit was not easy to wipe away.

The nacing figures of the {High Elves} had disappeared, replaced with fading eerie laughter.

A bead of sweat rolled down Roselle's forehead.

"How's she holding up?" She couldn't help but ask.

Susan frowned, her brows furrowed as the light beneath her fingers intensified,

"Not good. She's lost a lot of blood. Unless I find so to give her, her condition will remain the sa, or worse."

Roselle gritted her teeth as she replied,

"That would be impossible."

'Considering the fact that we are also about to suffer a similar fate...' She thought to herself.

The mont she lost sight of all the {Hugh Elves}, she knew their lives were no longer in their hands.

Although the Elves had decided to confront them head-on, they weren't going to make things easy and simple.

No, sothing told her they would rather love to torture them before releasing them from their despair with death.

She smiled grimly.

It was a sad fate.

To co this far, only for it to end in such a manner.

She clenched her fists.

It would change nothing.

In the end, she loved by sword, so it was only fitting for her to end the sa way.

'I just wish I didn't have to die in the hands of these cowardly bastards.'

Just then, the world seed to co to a halt.

Then...

She heard a word.

"Seal."
