Chapter 4: Sleeping Next to CEO Su, A Thrilling Sensation
The air inside the soft sleeper compartnt seed to freeze for a second.
In the darkness, Chen Man was practically hanging onto Jiang Chen.
The impact at that mont was not small, but what was more astonishing was the touch that followed.
The tight leopard-print slip dress she was wearing was too thin, so thin that Jiang Chen could clearly feel her rapid heartbeat from the shock, along with that softness and warmth that made his scalp tingle.
"Sister Man, are you alright?"
Jiang Chen's arms firmly supported her waist and back, trying his best to keep his hands stiff like a piece of wood, avoiding any movent of his fingers.
"Ouch... That scared to death."
Chen Man gasped twice, still shaken, before finally realizing how intimate their current posture was. Instead of rushing to get up, she leveraged his chest for support. In the darkness, her cat-like eyes seed to gleam.
"Little brother, you reacted pretty fast. If it weren't for you, my butt would have been smashed into two pieces."
"Cough."
A cold, clear cough sounded from the side.
Su Qingge maintained the posture of gripping Jiang Chen's wrist, her tone carrying an indescribable aning: "How much longer do you plan on hugging her? The train has stabilized."
Chen Man chuckled, then slowly moved away from Jiang Chen, rewrapping the fallen military greatcoat around herself, but her teasing didn't stop.
"Is CEO Su worried already? I wanted to get up quickly too, but my legs are weak."
Jiang Chen let out a sigh of relief, returning to sit beside Su Qingge.
After that sudden harsh braking, the train had completely stopped deep within the Qinling Mountains.
Outside the window, thick snowflakes fluttered everywhere. The fierce wind whipped the snow against the glass, making a crackling sound, like an urgent summons.
If it had only felt cold before, now it was bone-chillingly frigid.
In less than ten minutes, the thermoter in the compartnt had dropped to single digits.
Even wrapped in the greatcoat, the damp cold seeped into every crack of their bones.
"This is too cold..."
Lin Wan huddled in the corner of the lower bunk on the right, her teeth beginning to chatter. "This is a magical attack that Southerners really can't handle."
Su Qingge was also struggling to bear it. Although she was wearing a thick military greatcoat, her long legs, clad only in thin black stockings, had almost lost all feeling through the open gap in the coat.
She unconsciously leaned closer to Jiang Chen—a primal instinct for a living being searching for a heat source.
Jiang Chen felt the woman beside him trembling.
"This won't do."
Jiang Chen frowned and broke the silence, "We don't know when the heating will be fixed. The temperature in these mountains can drop below negative ten degrees at night. If we sit separately, heat will dissipate too quickly."
"Then what should we do?"
Chen Man sniffled, her voice losing its previous playfulness and gaining a touch of genuine fear. "Squeeze together."
Jiang Chen's tone was calm and resolute.
The three won looked at him simultaneously.
"I'm sitting on the left bunk too, Sister Su is here as well."
Jiang Chen pointed to the bunk beneath him. "This bunk is about eighty centiters wide. Although it's narrow, it can fit two people without a problem. Sister Man and Sister Wan, can you squeeze together on the opposite side? We should lean back-to-back or huddle together so we can lock in body heat."
Silence hung in the darkness for a few seconds.
Such a suggestion would normally be considered outright hooliganism. But in this extre environnt where breath turned to ice, no one thought he was taking advantage.
"I agree."
Su Qingge was the first to speak. She was too cold; her legs, accustod to sitting in an office, felt like they were soaking in ice water. She was an extrely rational person, and face was worthless compared to life.
"I have no objections either, as long as Wanwan doesn't mind that I toss and turn in my sleep."
Chen Man, wrapped in her coat, hopped onto the bunk opposite Lin Wan.
The sound of fabric rustling lightly echoed in the compartnt.
Jiang Chen placed the still quite warm hot water bottle back into Su Qingge's arms, then shifted inward, leaning against the carriage wall to leave the outer space for Su Qingge.
"Sister Su, you sit inside. The wall panel is cold."
Su Qingge paused for a mont.
But she imdiately understood: the carriage wall was made of iron sheeting, leading directly to the wind and snow outside, making it truly piercingly cold. Jiang Chen was using his back to shield her from the coldest wall.
"No need, you sit there."
Su Qingge refused quite bluntly. She turned sideways and took off her high heels that had been precariously close to falling off all along.
The next second, Jiang Chen felt sothing burrowing under the hem of his greatcoat.
It was a pair of feet.
Su Qingge's feet, encased in delicate, smooth stockings, were like two blocks of ice due to the cold. They now pressed unceremoniously against Jiang Chen's calf, even searching for a warr spot, attempting to burrow into the bend of his knee.

Jiang Chen tensed up, his voice even slightly distorted.
"Don't move."
Su Qingge's voice was right by his ear, carrying an unquestionable command, yet also a trace of imperceptible weakness. "My feet are cold. I'm borrowing your legs to warm them up."

Jiang Chen took a deep breath, forcing himself not to think about the position of those beautiful legs under his coat.
"Open your coat a little more."
Su Qingge spoke again.
Jiang Chen obediently undid the buttons.
Su Qingge leaned sideways, spreading the military greatcoat she was wearing over his, overlapping the two.
The two of them looked like two penguins huddling for warmth in a blizzard. The two heavy coats rged into a temporary, sealed little nest.
In this suffocatingly narrow space, their bodies were pressed together with almost no gap remaining.
Jiang Chen could clearly sll the crisp, clean scent of shampoo in Su Qingge's hair, mixed with the old cotton sll of the military greatcoat. It wasn't unpleasant at all; rather, it carried a sense of reassuring solidity.
"Xiao Jiang."
Su Qingge rested her head lightly on Jiang Chen's shoulder, her voice very soft, the warm breath she exhaled brushing against Jiang Chen's neck.
"Hm?"
"Thank you."
Jiang Chen smiled. Although his body was tense, his heart felt very steady. "Why be polite? I'm a man; it's what I should do."
On the opposite bunk, Chen Man and Lin Wan were also huddled together.
"Tsk tsk tsk..."
Chen Man looked at the two rged green shadows opposite them and muttered softly, "Wanwan, look. Sister Su seems unapproachable usually, but she made a move faster than ."
Lin Wan's face flushed slightly, and she pushed the hot water bottle into Chen Man's arms. "Just say less and save your energy to keep warm."
The snow outside the carriage grew heavier, the howling wind sounding like wailing ghosts.
But in this small world, because they shared body heat, the originally unbearable long night didn't seem so terrifying anymore.
