From MC Perspective
The toxic rain stopped earlier. Now that the old man was recovering, I shifted my body and went inside the cave.
I saw the wandering wizards, bandits, and the flying salamander trembling in fear when I appeared before them. They were shocked to the core.
"The fight is over. The old man submitted it to . Let’s continue the journey now," I said to them.
Gasp!
Hearing that, they gasped in surprise. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing. I looked at them one last ti before leaving the cave. Then, I arrived in front of the old man.
"Tell your people to go back. They are free now," I told him.
The old man understood. When the bandits appeared, he told them to take the airship and leave. They were granted their freedom. Whether they wanted to leave for good or continue living as bandits was their choice.
I told the wandering wizards to go with them as well; I had no further need for them.
Twenty minutes later...
The flying salamander was soaring above the blue clouds. I stood on its head while the old man sat cross-legged on the ground next to .
His injuries were rapidly healing. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any other magic treasures of the Magic Lord level.
As ti went by, I started asking the old man about his life. His na was Rock, and he was from a fallen bloodline wizard family.
He was the last successor and survivor of his lineage. The family had declined due to their failure to awaken the "bloodline wizard seed."
Only Rock had awakened the family’s bloodline power, but that had happened hundreds of years ago.
The sky salamander continued to fly without complaint. From ti to ti, I gave the salamander Grade 10 magic fruits.
It recovered its lost strength and progressed along the monster wizard path. The creature was undergoing a transformation right before my eyes.
"Master, we should rest. It is nightti. The salamander will need this ti to complete its transformation," Rock said.
His chest injury had healed completely, leaving behind only a small scar.
"Okay," I replied.
I signaled the salamander to land.
Swoosh!
The flying salamander was excited. It dived down to find a suitable spot, eventually landing on a patch of vacant land in the middle of a semi-desert area. Rock and I gave the creature space.
Rock’s old eyes flickered. He sensed that the magic fruits consud by the monster had triggered its internal bloodline power.
"The monster’s bloodline power is increasing," Rock uttered.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I used the System Power to check the monster’s condition.
Its strength was reaching the limit of the 9th Order. If it found the right opportunity in the future, it would beco a 10th Order Monster.
Maybe I should keep it as a mount, I thought, my mouth curving into an arc.
I turned toward the old man. "Do you know anything about Dust City?" I asked.
"Dust City?" The old man was taken aback.
He recalled the famous city in his mind. He had never dared to extend his work over there because the place was filled with powerful wizards.
"Master, Dust City is one of the famous neutral cities," he said. "You can find wizards from both sides there. Wandering wizards and others with weak strength wouldn’t dare go near it."
My eyes glead. "What about Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards?"
Rock was dumbfounded again. Who is this young man? He didn’t dare guess my identity, but he was shocked that I was asking about Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards so directly.
He took a deep breath. "Master, I heard there are Magic Lords in Dust City, but I don’t know about Forbidden Wizards."
"Good," I uttered.
If there was only Forbidden Wizard Remi to worry about, I could handle it.
Ti passed...
The flying salamander continued its transformation. It didn’t take long to finish. By the ti morning approached..
Roar!
The salamander let out a furious cry. Its size was now close to fifty feet. The brown scales on its back had hardened into armor.
"Master, this salamander has great potential. It can survive in the wastelands without resources. If you ever want to visit a Forbidden Area, its help will be imnse," Rock said.
I nodded. The flying salamander projected a sense of thanks and gratitude toward . Without my help, it would have taken a lifeti to find the resources for such a breakthrough.
The next morning, we were back in the sky, both of us sitting on the monster’s head.
Old man Rock seed hesitant. He had certain doubts but wasn’t sure if it was okay to ask. He was afraid of Dust City.
He had offended many people in the past, which was why he worked as a bandit on specific routes. If he went to Dust City, people might recognize him.
So of them were evil wizards with notorious backgrounds. Furthermore, he still didn’t know my true background.
I saw through his thoughts. "What’s wrong?" I asked.
Rock snapped out of his trance. "Master, are you going to Dust City? Is soone waiting for you there?"
"Hmmm," I humd.
"I’m going for so work. I see you have so concerns. If you want, you can wait outside the city for . After I finish my business, I’ll take you back to my place," I said to him.
"Phew!" Rock heaved a massive sigh of relief.
"Okay," he replied.
Seeing that I didn’t ask further questions. I guess the old man has offended quite a lot of people. Should I give him a mask? Or should I put him inside the Gregor Mansion.
If soone causes trouble, then it could hinder my work. In the end, I decided to go with the flow.
A few hours later,
The flying salamander reached the city. The city has fortified walls on all sides. The walls have a height of 100ft. No monsters can breach the walls.
I told the Salamander monster to land on the ground.
