From MC Perspective
Store Backside
Otto is using his magic to eavesdrop on the shop. I’m standing at the back, leaning against a tree. I have confidence in Otto’s magic. I’m interested to find out more about the old woman.
The old woman didn’t show any ill intent earlier; her gaze was filled with curiosity. If she turns out to be a good person, then I will try to make a solid connection with her.
Maybe with her help, I can learn about the city’s power structure.
I could also do it with a little force. As long as I capture soone, they would spill everything. But I don’t want to do that yet.
anwhile
The old woman muttered to herself.
"Is it a visitor or a local?"
"There is no one in this city with such power at such a young age!"
"Which family has raised this monster?"
"He doesn’t look old. The masked man was certainly a youngster," the old woman whispered. "It’s best not to offend the forces behind that young man."
She didn’t know that every word she uttered was being heard right now. Overall, the old woman was a good person. She didn’t have any ill intentions toward the masked young man.
Outside
Otto finished listening to the old woman. He understood the Master’s assignnt. With Master Vincent’s own power and background, there was no need for them to go to such lengths.
Unfortunately, he could only keep these thoughts in his heart.
Otto then explained everything to the Master without hiding a thing. He couldn’t afford to hide anything; his mana core was bound by the Crimson Curse. If he harbored any rebellious thoughts, he would suffer.
A few minutes later
I heard everything from Otto. His assessnt matches mine. I think I can make a connection with the old woman next ti.
I left the place with Otto. Our next goal was to buy necessary items for the mbers from clothes to communication devices, excluding the two monsters.
For the monsters, I have to buy sothing else as compensation.
Shortly afterwards
Otto found a shop that sells these items. I gave mana stones to Otto. He is a Supre Wizard himself; no one would dare ss with him. I waited outside the shop and began to observe the passersby.
None of the people I’ve watched so far were below level 7. I wonder if these people ever allow their low-level wizards to roam the streets.
I don’t know for sure, but I think undercurrents are surging in this city as well.
But they aren’t at my level. It didn’t take long for Otto to finish the shopping. He ca back with a smile on his face.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Master, they gave a discount after learning about my strength," Otto said with a grin.
"Supre Wizards are quite influential in this city," I remarked. "Let’s go. We need to find sothing for the monsters as well."
The smile on Otto’s face disappeared the next second.
"Master, there is trouble. So annoying flies in the shop reported back to their gang higher ups," Otto said. He had just overheard sothing troubling.
I was surprised. I didn’t expect gangs to operate openly within the city. I thought you could only find them in lawless lands. This was new to .
Otto saw through Master’s doubt. He let out a cough before saying, "Master, they call themselves ’associations’ here."
"I know. It’s called the Association in our White Faction," I replied. "Let’s go to the next shop. If they cause any trouble, I’ll start my tally with their so-called association."
We left the shop. Not long after, a group of six wizards dressed in casual clothes walked out of the store.
I sensed their presence and asked the System to mask my strength so they wouldn’t be able to see through .
Otto was not worried; he was simply following orders. He thinks Master Vincent likes to pretend to be weak.
As ti went by, the six wizards followed us. They tried to sense the strength of the person walking beside their target, but none of them were able to find anything. Everyone felt their ntal power run into a thick wall.
One of them was a middle-aged man with long hair reaching his shoulders. He commanded respect from the others. He tried to call the association leader to report, but the call wouldn’t connect.
The middle-aged man was disappointed; he felt this was an important matter. It was rare for a Supre Wizard-level person to roam the city streets without a background.
From the man’s clothes and his behavior inside the shop, it was clear he was new to the city. If he didn’t have a powerful background, then the wealth of this Supre Wizard belonged to their association.
The middle-aged man’s eyes flashed with a glint. His association was called the Infinite Circle. He was one of many Supre Wizards in the Infinite Circle.
As long as there was one more Supre Wizard here, they could capture the outsider.
The other five people followed the middle-aged man. They understood their target was in sight. As long as they captured this person, they would receive a reward.
20 minutes later
Otto and I stood in front of a monster pet shop. Seeing it made curious; I had never seen a multi-floor pet shop before. I didn’t know what level of monsters they hid in there.
Before going inside, I glanced back. I saw the group of six wizards approaching. Otto saw them, too. I nodded to Otto before we stepped inside.
The middle-aged man and his group saw the pet shop as well. They were increasingly shocked. They didn’t know what the outsiders were up to now.
"Let’s go. We should stay right on their heels," the middle-aged man said.
The gang group then rushed into the pet shop. They ca across the busy custors. The middle aged man tried to find the target as soon as possible.
